Description

This cube is designed for the EDH/Commander format. Cards in the cube are generally good in the format or synergize well with one or more of the selected generals (in many cases both). There are 20 generals in the cube. The generals in the cube can be classified into a few major categories based on the interactions and synergies: artifact, enchantment, graveyard, token and other. Each general fits in to one of these categories with many fitting multiple categories. While the first four categories are rather specific the generals belonging to the "other" category do share a theme, they are non-combat generals that facilitate through card advantage and other resource advantages. The generals are as follows:

Bruna, Light of Alabaster, Ghave, Guru of Spores, Glissa, the Traitor *oversized*, Hanna, Ship's Navigator, Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord Jhoira of the Ghitufoil, Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer, Karador, Ghost Chieftain, Mayael the Anima, Nath of the Gilt-Leaf, Rhys the Redeemed, Riku of Two Reflections, Sedris, the Traitor King, Sek'Kuar, Deathkeeper, Sharuum the Hegemon, The Mimeoplasm, Thromok the Insatiable, Uril, the Miststalker, Wrexial, the Risen Deep, Xira Arien, Zur the Enchanter *f-etch*,

Every general in the cube is either two or three colors. To prevent three color generals from having a significant advantage, and to promote creative deck building, players selecting a two color general may choose a third color if they desire. The rules for this can be found at the bottom after the drafting rules are described.

The cube is meant for 2-6 players to draft, the draft method for the cube is:

Generals are drafted first through any method desired (traditional magic draft, randomly pick, snake draft, etc...). The cube is divided randomly into 36 piles of 19 cards (for 2, 3, 4 or 6 players, in the case of 5 players it should be divided into 35 piles of 19 and 20 cards). The number of rounds will depend on the number of players. For a four player draft there will be nine rounds. At the start of each round each player will get a pile of cards. They will select 3 cards from that pile and pass (alternating left and right each round). Each player drafts from each pile once each round. So in the four player case after each player drafts the fourth pile of the round the remaining seven cards in the pile are placed into the unused pile. After drafting all 36 piles, claiming three cards a pile, each player will have 108 cards (or 105 cards from 35 piles). These cards along with any number of basics lands can then be used to construct a normal commander deck with the commander chosen at the beginning. If multiple commanders were drafted at the beginning one should be selected as the general and others can be used as normal cards in the deck if they fit the generals color identity.

Rules for selecting a third color for a two color general are as follows. If a third color is selected for a two color general then that player must have the third color of mana available to them at any time they wish to cast their general.

For example if Rhys the Redeemed is chosen as general with blue as a third color then a player with only a Forest in play would not be able to play him on their first turn. If however a Breeding Pool was their first turn land they could play him.

Choosing a third color for a two color general also means adding this color to his color identity. So Command Tower would still produce all three types of mana, but protection from the third color would work against the general.

So from the example previously, Rhys the Redeemed with blue as a third color would be blue creature, in addition to being a green and white creature for the game, with all the rules that are entailed with being all three colors. He would get +1/+1 from Sunken City, +2/+2 from Murkfiend Liege, +3/+3 from Knight of New Alara and would be unable to block Bloated Toad (these cards mentioned are just for example and not actually in the cube).
