Aeon Chronicler

Creature — Avatar

Aeon Chronicler's power and toughness are each equal to the number of cards in your hand.

Suspend X—. X can't be 0.

Whenever a time counter is removed from Aeon Chronicler while it's exiled, draw a card.

PPS: An Aeon Chronicler could be good here.

As a fan of Blue-counter decks I like the cards you are putting in there. I am wondering what the win conditions are (obviously besides Jace's last ability). Some of your creatures require a lot of mana for blue control (such as: Aberrant Researcher  Flip, Advanced Hoverguard, Aeon Chronicler, Aquamorph Entity, Aven Surveyor, and Lorthos, the Tidemaker). The problem with having high mana cost is that when you play them, you will be tapped out of mana and you will have no protection whatsoever.

Brazen Borrower is a favorite of mine. As is Augury Owl. Both can be played early on. The scry 3 ability is great if you can flicker or bounce the owl.

I like Blink of an Eye. I think it is a very versatile card in both the early game and late game. Honestly, bouncing your own creatures is just as useful sometimes, as you can then reuse a creature ability.

With so many creatures I recommend having more creatures with triggering abilities for when they come into play, and then maybe add more bouncing and flickering spells. I would recommend Ghostly Flicker, my favorite flicker card. It is amazing with cards like Archeomancer (you can flicker Archeomancer and when when he comes back, you can return Ghostly Flicker back from the graveyard back to your hand. Un-killable blocker plus the flickering of another creature with triggering ability. Works on a similar level with Mystic Sanctuary.

Cards I would recommend: Ghostly Flicker Archeomancer Cryptic Command Mystic Sanctuary Cackling Counterpart Peel from Reality

playing more Augury Owl and Blink of an Eye might be good as well.

I'm not sure if you realize, but many of your non-creature spells are not modern legal. Just wanted to make sure you knew.

Either way, I like where your head is at. Good start. I always appreciate when someone decides to make a blue deck. It's hard to make a creature heavy blue deck based on dealing damage. This is because blue is the color that is more focused on non-creature spells. Blue also doesn't have much in the way of kill spell and destruction. So bounce and counter are really only the ways to keep threats off the board. Blue invokes a challenge in the players capabilities to think about the long term plan. I am always happy to suggest cards and/or combos, although ultimately the decisions are up to you as it is your deck. Good luck with your deck.

Alright. 4 More potential cuts: Mind Stone , Sturmgeist , Aeon Chronicler & a 3rd Handsize Matters creature. This is it. Whateven I can manage to cut here, I'll offer a suggestion for stuff that does deserve Garruk's Deathblow Chop to the point of getting to the Promised Land of 100 Cards. Also, as for Finale of Devastation I'll just ask: does it also apply to stuff w/ Variable Power and/or Toughness? In this case, Hands Matter Stat Creatures. If not, I guess it's okay to cut? I'm just wondering from you, bushido_man96...

Hi there, concerning the "time manipulation" ( Clockspinning and the like) you've already got everything in here as far as I know. One thing I find myself always happy with is the two rare suspend creatures from Planar Chaos, Detritivore and Aeon Chronicler , since they both offer a pretty usefull effect while they're ticking down in exile. Also Deep-Sea Kraken will enter the battlefield in no time when suspended with Jhoira, although maybe a bit underwhelming when compared against other stuff. I like to keep it in my build to take care of opposing planeswalkers though. You can check it out if you like to. Cheers! When Worlds Collide (EDH)

Please link your cards using double brackets--it makes it a bit easier to see what cards you're discussing:

[[chamber sentry]]

[[Walking Ballista]]

[[Tempered Steel]]

Chamber Sentry

Walking Ballista

Tempered Steel

As a general rule, when a spell or ability asks you to pay , and you get to decide what is, you can choose to pay 0.

Exceptions, such as Aeon Chronicler's suspend ability, will be specifically stated on the card.

Here, you will be able to cast both Chamber Sentry and Walking Ballista for . If you cast them for and do not have Tempered Steel in play, they will die as a result of having 0 toughness.

It's important to note, Tempered Steel does not give either +1/+1 counters; it's a static ability increasing power and toughness. As such, both Walking Ballista and Chamber Sentry will be 2/2s without any counters with which you could activate their abilities.

Didn't want to include Aeon Chronicler? That's pretty much the only budget card I can think of for this deck.

And you'll need to forgo Bringer of the Blue Dawn; it counts as a five-colour card, so it cannot be in an Izzet deck.

If you want to view a very mean, not at all budget, Jhoira deck, please check out mine.

I somehow missed that you already had curiosity in the deck but another card I find amazing is Aeon Chronicler. It has won me so many games with Niv and flied under the radar.

Also as mentioned above, Psychosis Crawler is amazing with Niv.
