wolf_man007: I love Niv-Mizzet, but he didn't do enough as a hard-to-cast six drop to warrant inclusion in the Izzet section. Although the Izzet section is nothing to write home about (some efficient burn + card drawing, cool but not altogether exciting, and I'm really hoping for something more from future sets), Niv-Mizzet has no protection and doesn't just basically win the game when he comes down. His mana cost is too restrictive and he doesn't flat out win the game when he comes down, which are big strikes against him. Maybe if the multicolored section expands I will look at him again, although that's something I really do not want to do, since cubes with too many multicolor cards suffer.

He does win the game if you have Curiosity or Ophidian Eye .

That combination is an instant-win if they don't have removal or a counter, but overall cards like Curiosity and Ophidian Eye just aren't powerful enough for the cube, especially in a color that is already packed with powerful cards.
