Jilt

Instant

Kicker {{1,R}} (You may pay an additional {{1,R}} as you cast this spell.)

Return target creature to its owner's hand. If Jilt was kicked, it deals 2 damage to another target creature.

Grixis is always fun.

You are running a few sub-optimal cards that have strict upgrades. Quench could easily be Mana Leak. Shock could be an extra copy of Lightning Bolt and maybe a Firebolt or Flame Slash. I personally recommend Firebolt.

One of the greatest strengths of Blue is its cantrips. I would cut the Faithless looting to have a full playset of Preordain and even add Ponders to the list. This gives you a lot to do to fill out your curve every turn and can help prepare a Delver to flip.

One of the cool things about being Grixis is being able to play cards like Terminate, Jilt and Probe all in the same deck. The last two are for a more controlling approach, but Terminate fits in your tempo deck very well and could take the place of some of your burn and/or Edicts.

If ever you want another good, flexible creature to play, Mulldrifter is great for this kind of strategy. It draws you cards for cheap in the early game and is also a great threat in the late game.

You are playing a very balanced mana base that doesn't quite reflect your deck's colour composition. You have very few red cards. You probably don't need any Swiftwater Cliffs and could be playing more basic islands to speed up your deck instead. Rupture Spire is also unnecessary fixing. It could easily be more copies of other duals or just more basics.

I think some improvement could be made in your mana base. You are running the gain lands which is great, but there are other great duels. The bounce lands Dimir Aqueduct, Izzet Boilerworks and Rakdos Carnarium are very powerful because they can allow you to basically have an extra land drop with just one card (makes opening hands more keepable) and it can also let you reuse ETB effect lands. You could also be running Bojuka Bog, which I jam in every Black deck. Terramorphic Expanse and Evolving Wilds are better at fixing your mana than regular dual lands. I also wouldn't mind seeing some cycling lands like Forgotten Cave, Lonely Sandbar and Barren Moor at a minimum. You could be running up to 9 cyclers in your mana base alone.

Almost every single one of your creatures has an ETB. You should really think about including the cheese package of Ghostly Flicker and Displace(and maybe Merchant Scroll). You're already running Archaeomancer and Izzet Chronarch for infinite value loops. You could add even more creatures like them to really take advantage of the engine. Add in Peregrine Drake and Cloud of Faeries and you could be looking at infinite mana and blink effects as a secondary win condition. It's hard not to include this combo when you're playing Blue because it's such a great way to end the game.

In terms of your creatures, I like where it's going. I would swap out Sibsig Icebreakers for Dinrova Horror, who's a massive beater with a great abusable trigger.

I think Death Denied would be a better choice over Stir the Grave or Wander in Death. If you absolutely want a reanimation spell Unearth would probably be a better choice.

I like all your reomval spells except for Terror. Wouldn't Doom Blade be an upgrade, or are you playing against regenerate? You could also run something cool like Jilt instead, or perhaps Edict effects to go along with your board wipes, like Chainer's Edict.

Spook9MM on Do copied spells include kicker …

Using Primal Wellspring  Flip for example, I cast Jilt paying its kicker cost. Does the copy also have kicker added? Or can kicker cost be applied somehow to copies, if not?

I'm trying to optimize my list and would like to bounce some ideas of you all and see if you have any opinons as well.

Sudden Demise. Is this card better than Fall of the Titans or Comet Storm? I think i like the instant speed options of the other two.

is Arcane Denial worth it's price$ tag? or should i just run Deprive or Delay for hard counters or even go for some soft counters like Mana Leak, Miscalculation or Logic Knot

Whir of Invention is only hitting mana rocks, Tormod's Crypt, Elixir of Immortality and Aetherflux Reservoir. I'm not really a storm deck so really breaking the reservoir is kinda hard but it's a good polictical tool i think (hope) lol.

Rise from the Tides puts a target on my head if i don't flash it out with Quicken, still worth it? or should i run somthing like Diluvian Primordial?

Would adding Cackling Counterpart for a copy of Young Pyromancer or Docent of Perfection be too cute?

should i take out a one mana cantrip like Mental Note for Impulse? Impulse is a stronger effect but costs more making it harder to combine with another spell to draw a card with jori

Retraced Image is cool cause you can reveal a land a put it into play, making it a ramp spell kinda like a mana rock. so with that in mind is it better than a actual mana rock? like Star Compass or Fellwar Stone?

Jilt or Into the Roil? if i'm running primarily against other budget decks i think jilt is better because there will be more X/2's running around, agaisnt the general field though drawing extra cards can't be too bad

Psychic Spiral I think could be hillarious, maybe i run that as a secondary(teriary) wincon instead of Aetherflux Reservoir

If anyone has more cool ideas I'm definitly open to exploring new areas, thanks for any input!!!

is Altar of the Brood nessary?

seems like Vapor Snag and Disperse could be upgraded. maybe Into the Roil, Snap, or Jilt?

do you really need Take Possession?

You have like 5 mana rocks, might be worth adding some. especially if you want to run 9 cards that cost more than 5.

has Spirebluff Canal been good? seems like if it's not early it's a guildgate

Thanks Kawstik :)

Back in the day my buddy played the blue red Tim deck with Prodigal Sorcerer, Razorfin Hunter, Sigil of Sleep, Jilt, Lightning Bolt, Shock, Counterspell, Syncopate, Capsize and other similar cards and it was the most annoying deck to play against because anything you played would just get bounced, pinged, burned, or countered.

I hated it.

This is in homage to that deck and I can finally see the allure...

Thanks again, hope it works out for you :)

Some cards to consider:

Miscalculation instead of mana leak late game cycling is BIG game

Deprive If efficiency is your no.1 aim, just have more hard counters as bouncing the land won't really hurt a deck like yours

Preordain is functionally better than brainstorm in most pauper list as it doesn't warp deck construction(aka lessens the need for "fetch lands") and is just a good cantrip

Ponder- see above

Kiln Fiend-extremely fragile, but extremely efficient beater

Elusive Spellfist-good creature in UR decks

Frostburn Weird- the best creature available for a deck like this IMO

Jeskai Sage-Value card

Jilt-Aggressive card that could regain you tempo; I wouldn't run more than two

Razorfin Hunter-kinda a SB option, maybe mainboard

Stormbound Geist-SB card

Hoped This has helped
