The deck is in dire need of mana rocks like Dimir Signet, Talisman of Dominance, Mana Vault, Mana Crypt, etc., to help you establish your board presence quicker.

I also think you should cut down on high cmc counterspells and focus a bit more on efficiency. You can probably throw in Training Grounds to help with the activation cost of your commander and Duskmantle Seer.

Overall, I like the direction of the deck but I think you can streamline it a bit more to make it faster.

Thanks for the suggestions gdm1989. I have considered a few of the new Ixalan cards, but really only Dowsing Dagger  Flip, Search for Azcanta  Flip, and maybe Dire Fleet Ravager seemed like potential adds.

The problem with cards like Boneyard Parley and Sepulchral Primordial is their cmc. This deck relies heavily on Duskmantle Seer when I can't attack, so anything over 4 cmc has to be in the deck for a very specific reason. If I do add in a re-animator package I would be considering much cheaper cmc options (though Boneyard Parley will likely be finding its way into my Gonti, Lord of Luxury deck The Sting).

Polluted Bonds seems like an intriguing option, but I'd have to see where/if it fits into the deck.

Least favorite were Entreat the Angels, Bonfire of the Damned, and Sphinx's Revelation when they were in Standard. They were just dumb "lol oops I win gg" cards that put people too far ahead.

Baneslayer Angel was dumb just because it forever changed Mythics from "These are cards you don't want to see too many of in Limited or require you to build around them" to "You need these $30+ cards to be decently competitive in MtG." Then came Primeval Titan and its cycle.

In terms of how playable they are, Beguiler of Wills, Devout Invocation, Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded, Duskmantle Seer, and Archangel's Light usually send me into a fit of rage whenever I saw them opened.

Flavor wise, Descent into Madness and Startled Awake  Flip are my two favorite.

Play-wise? Wurmcoil Engine, Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, Liliana of the Veil, Past in Flames, Angel of Serenity, Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver, Garruk Relentless  Flip, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth, and Karn Liberated.

Cards to take out:

Indentured Djinn while the logic is solid behind choosing him, he's each opponent "May" draw, allows them to opt out of the 3+ damage

Duskmantle Seer fit's the flavor, but isn't actually a draw which could easily net you less damage across the board.

Returned Phalanx this card takes up space for no real good reason

Trade Secrets is illegal in the commander/edh format

Swamp/Island/Mountain you have way too many lands in this deck you could probably run 10 less land and still be A-okay, obviously you should playtest it and tweak it accordingly.

Cards to consider:

Arjun, the Shifting Flame my friend runs this guy in a red/blue locust god EDH it forces all sorts of draw on everyone.

Graceful Adept living Spellbook/Reliquary Tower

Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur Later game nets you heavy amounts of draw and makes your opponents lose any card advantage you might give them.

Stormbreath Dragon with the amount of cards you should be forcing your opponents to draw his monstrous will be devastating

Sturmgeist you're going to have a fair deal of cards yourself

The Locust God tokens for days.

Viseling hand sizes will easily be 4+ damage will be dealt.

Howling Mine forces draw

Font of Mythos forces more draw

Archmage Ascension why draw cards like a plebeian when you could tutor all the cards?

Fevered Visions essentially 2 damage a turn every turn.

Forced Fruition easy 7+ damage

Price of Knowledge Damage for days

Underworld Dreams it's like have 2 nekusar

Thank you for the suggestion. The Scarab God is a decent card, however, I feel belongs in another shell. This deck does not cater to zombies, so it does not immediately give an advantage. It requires a hefty price for Mana, let alone its activation and in this deck I only run 18 lands. There are only 2x power slots in this deck and that is currently the Cryptic Commands in the main. I have been thinking about Tombstalker as a 1x, however, that is an entirely different conversation. These are some things:

@poorpinkus: Apparently I'm not very good at the internet lol. I haven't had much experiences with the curses but the experience I have had is that they're good at bringing a player back down when they start to get out of hand. On another note if you want more Dark Confidant type effects then Duskmantle Seer would like to talk.

First suggestion in stick with two colors. From what you have here, Black is a must. Then your second color is either Red or White. The hardest thing in building a deck is putting in just what the deck wants and needs. This deck seems to be leaning Black and Red. So, that means goodbye to Cliffhaven Vampire, Duskmantle Seer, and Sorin, Grim Nemesis (just means later you'll have to build another Vampire deck with different colors!)

Darkshadow327, Answering as requested, I'd cut:

(Just a note: these comments bellow consider a competitive enviroment. If you want it a 'for fun' deck or your local meta allow you to use the deck this way, not worry about these comments. Just have fun, ok?)

Duskmantle Seer - Not a advantage feature, as long you keep lots of hight-cost cards (including other copies of himself). Bob do the same and note that decks that use it keep the CMC curve very, very low (usually the most expensive cmc in this deck is Liliana of the Veil - CMC = 3).

Kalitas, Bloodchief of Ghet - Powerfull effect, indeed. But 7 mana? No way. 99% of your games will reach maximum turn 6. Keep this in mind; if you want to play something in your deck, make it till turn 4.

Blood Tribute - Too expensive. 6 mana its a lot to 'not 'win-the-game-card'. Same for Sanguine Bond.

Ruinous Path - Good to have protection against Planeswalker, ok. But Sorcery speed... You're already using Hero's Downfall - use it at the SB. In main, use more effective removal (last comment have some examples)

Vampire Nocturnus - Good for the tribal, but should be the last point of your curve and 1 copy only.

A (quick) suggestion for your Main:

(Delay spells - 17 cards)4x Inquisition of Kozilek4x Thoughtseize3x Fatal Push2x Dismember2x Collective Brutality2x Remand - over Countersquall (draw a card its good for find your combo pieces)

(Ramp for your combo - 4 cards)4x Heartless Summoning - Cast Bloodline on 2nd turn.

(Combo engine - 8 cards)4x Bloodline Keeper  Flip4x Intruder Alarm

(Tutor for combo pieces - 8 cards)4x Beseech the Queen - Our best tutor2x Dimir Machinations - Tutor for the enchantment2x Gifts Ungiven - Choose copies of the same card thats missing for combo. The good parts is you can pick 4 and keep 2 (just in case your 1st Bloodline face removal)

Maralen of the Mornsong Can be tested (never tested) - sounds fun.

In the SB I'd recomend:

3x Darkness - Death's Shadow, Naya Zoo decks, etc4x Spellskite - Protect your combo pieces2x Ensnaring Bridge - Delay crowd-of-creatures decks2x Mulldrifter - Speed vs fast decks2x Damnation - Cause things become out of control sometimes =)

Well, this must be tested and tunned. But this list can deliver more 'competitiveness', I think. Feel free to discuss card by card!
