Lyev Skyknight
Creature — Human Knight
Flying
When Lyev Skyknight enters the battlefield, detain target nonland permanent an opponent controls. (Until your next turn, that permanent can't attack or block and its activated abilities can't be activated.)

Testing out a couple of cards I’ve had my eye on the past few of years. Going to swap out Detention Sphere for Eerie Interlude and see if I like the extra blink/protection. This decision has been a long time coming. After hundreds of games over the past 5~ years of me using Brago, I think I used D Sphere 3 times? I have other modes of removal in the deck, and would prefer a extra means of blink value and protecting Brago from a board wipe. The other change is Lyev Skyknight, a long time pet card of mine, to Soul Herder. Loved Skyknight in RTR block, one of my favorite cards, but I think that having more blinking options would help boost the speed of the deck. The next couple of changes I’ll likely make after I play a few test games with the new cards will be Out: Dissolve Angel of Serenity and In: Disallow Agent of Treachery. These changes will be made at a later date.

Deputy of Detention might be a better option than Lyev Skyknight since it allows you to exile each copy of a card your opponents control until it leaves the battlefield rather than just detain 1 card for 1 turn. Plus it's the same CMC

captainamerica: Unlike most control decks, this one does not have a designated finisher. Rather, the idea is to get out a bunch of smaller bodies as you lock everything up, and then swing in with a bunch of 2 or 3 power creatures. Lyev Skyknight and Dungeon Geists often end up doing most of the damage, since they can detain or exile any other flying creatures and then get through for 3 points each turn.

Hi. Looks like I posted after you on Commander Deck Help. The thought police will get me if I don't post card recommendations on your deck.
- I'm not sure what Teferi, Temporal Archmage is doing here. Maybe it has some hidden purpose or broken combo I just don't see, but if that's not the case, I would cut that for Proteus Staff.
-
Scrolling through the comments, it seems like you want to avoid Felidar Guardian. I think this deck would make a great Eldrazi- Hey, wait, hear me out. Aminatou gives topdeck control. She can also blink things. Her ultimate is garbage. All in all, not bad. I think you could take a nice little polymorph route on this. I like free Eldrazi. You should too. Just look through these cards, and tell me what you think.
- Mass Polymorph
- Polymorph
- Proteus Staff
- Reweave
- Riptide Shapeshifter
- Synthetic Destiny
- Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
- Emrakul, the Promised End
- Void Winnower
- It That Betrays
- Blightsteel Colossus
- Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger
- Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre
...that would be your endgame. For the early and midgame:
- Noxious Gearhulk
- Meddling Mage, depending on your meta
- Duplicant
- Champion of Wits
- Riverwise Augur
- Sawtooth Loon
- Bone Shredder
- Big Game Hunter
- Nekrataal
- Ovinomancer
- Ravenous Chupacabra
- Lyev Skyknight
- Counterspells
So, your gameplan would be to play Aminatou on T3, play creatures that kill things/draw cards when they enter, blink them with Aminatou repeatedly to kill opponent's things, draw into counterspells, and generally destroy their will to live. Once you have a comfortable lock, +1 Aminatou and put an eldrazi titan on top, polymorph a draw creature into it.

+1, Venser, the Sojourner's +2 might work really well with Lavinia of the Tenth, Azorius Justiciar, Lyev Skyknight, Azorius Arrester, Azor, the Lawbringer, Reflector Mage, Dovin Baan, Jace, Unraveler of Secrets, Narset Transcendent, and Detention Sphere.

Classic U/W Control, counter things, exile things, etc. More info on the deck under comments. I'm a new player so I greatly appreciate insight from seasoned vets, especially other pilots of U/W Control. :)
Edit: Thank you all for your feedback! I changed the deck quite a bit. I still need help with:
Win cons: Currently my major win cons are the two Aetherlings, but I know there is a lot more I could play with.
Mana base: I can't afford Celestial Colonnade yet, besides that how else do you think I could improve my mana base?
Creatures: Should I cut more creatures out for more counters? More cantrips?
Cantrips: Do I need both Opt and Serum Visions? What about Sleight of Hand?
Counters: Besides the obvious Cryptic Command, any idea how I could improve my counter base?
Enchantments: Detention Sphere or Ixalan's Binding?
If any of you need help as well, I would be nore than happy to provide it! :) Happy holidays!

@Apple01DOJ, Hour of Need turns small creatures like Lyev Skyknight, Azorius Guildmage, Banisher Priest, and Spell Queller into bigger creatures. Its especially useful for Lyev Skyknight, because that ability only works once.
