I would suggest cutting: (worst at the bottom)

  1. Scepter of Fugue. In my opinion it's too slow and not impactful enough but i can see why you would play it.

  2. Shrieking Affliction. It's simply too slow. Even if you get someone empty handed it's still just 3 life they are losing. That's not good enough.

  3. Rhys the Exiled. I think Rhys is okay. It's not explicitly a bad card it's just that you can in my opinion run better cards.

  4. Torment of Scarabs. As I've now said many times before, too slow with too little impact.

  5. Coercion. In my opinion, this is the worst card in the deck. it's extremely inefficient and can only be used once. should absolutely not be in the deck.

Now some cards i think should be in the deck: (worst at the bottom)

  1. Memory Jar. This is a amazing card in the nath deck. i know it's pricey but if you can afford it, you will not regret it. I mean it's five mana for 21 elves in a four player game with nath out.

  2. Beastmaster Ascension. It can potentially just win the game out of nowhere.

  3. Planar Void. This really wants to be Leyline of the Void but Planar Void is a hundreth of the cost of a leyline but still works about as well. Sure you have to exile your own cards but your deck has no discernable recurrsion in the first place.

  4. Arterial Flow. You don't care about the vampire part of it, you care that it's a three mana Unnerve.

  5. Herald of Anguish. I have to be honest. this card is not amazing but I just wanted you to atleast know about it. I loved slamming down this when i played my nath deck. At worst it usually makes people discard a card and then it eats a removal spell.

Some cards i think should be swapped: Gnarlroot Trapper > Elves of Deep Shadow. Simply better ramp.

Sheltering Word > Swiftfoot Boots. Better and more reliable protection.

Quirion Elves > Elvish Harbinger? I dunno. this feels like it's a upgrade but it's your deck.

Anyway I hope this helps with your deck!

I love that you can completely shut your opponent down right away with all these discard cards. Tormented Soul doesn't seem very good here though. I also wouldn't run Dark Deal since you don't want to lose too much of your own cards. It might be better to go for some more low mana discard cards like Divest and Lay Bare the Heart. You should definitely run Guul Draz Specter, that would be a great alternate wincondition in this deck. Shrieking Affliction could be of great help as well.

Some other discard cards that could work (but might be too expensive or not useful because you can empty your opponents hand pretty quickly already) are Scepter of Fugue and Mind Shatter.

rufus654,
Hey, you bet!

Another way to make the deck run more smoothly without adding more Lands is just to lower the curve a little. Some of the 8-Rack classics that might be applicable: Funeral Charm, Raven's Crime, Smallpox (also nice if you find yourself with extra Lands), and Wrench Mind.

Scepter of Fugue could also give you something to do with extra mana.

You could definitely use some more efficient discard spells, look up an 8rack deck to get a few cards you could use. Also your commander choice for this deck is rather strange, she's not a good commander and seeing as how most of your creatures are not gorgon shes terrible. Seeing as how this seems to be on a tight budget Id recommend:

Commander You Should Go With In my Opinion:Greel, Mind Raker

Good Discard Spells and Synergy:

The Rack, Liliana's Caress, Dreamstealer, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Larceny, Rackling, Cao Cao, Lord of Wei, Dark Ritual, Mind Twist, Mind Sludge, Mind Shatter, Read the Bones, Raven's Crime, Mind Slash, Scepter of Fugue, Malicious Affliction, Go for the Throat, Walk the Plank, Shrine of Limitless Power, Necrogen Mists, Black Market, Underworld Connections, Greed, and Archfiend of Ifnir

Thats a lot I know but this deck seems to be just what you had lying around (not a bad thing thats how my decks start) so I thought Id try to help a bit, good luck!

needs more bounce - Temporal Adept, Crystal Shard, etc with pitch creatures (like Relentless Rats ) would likely help as well.

if you aren't going as much bounce, take a look into Scepter of Fugue and Disrupting Scepter for handpicking, as well as Honden of Night's Reach for manaless activation

I like the deck, but i would concentrade more on the discard sinstrategy than beatdown.

Instead of bad moon you could go for Liliana's Caress to maximise the outcome of discard.

I'd drop all abyssal and add some more nykthos enablers such as Scepter of Fugue, Gifted Aetherborn, Gatekeeper of Malakir. Or a single gary Gray Merchant of Asphodel

Drop one torment and add the 4th ascension as you first need mana and do not need torments early.
