Artifact — Equipment
Equipped creature gets +5/+0.
Ogre's Cleaver Discussion

NensouHiebara did turn down Ogre's Cleaver for the similar reason of a high equip cost, but Colossus Hammer has the difference of making Balan, Wandering Knight a one-shot kill when also equipped with literally any other equipment in the deck. NensouHiebara made a similar argument for Inquisitor's Flail (which made the cut, but understandably has more reasonable costs).
I would play test the Colossus Hammer by removing the Basilisk Collar . First strike and deathtouch seems nice, but no power boost just lengthens games. Colossus Hammer will end games faster and seems like the closest thing to an Eldrazi Conscription equipments will get

Noticed you were a little light on artifacts, so here's a few; Ogre's Cleaver , Harvest Hand Flip (flipside, obviously), Sharpened Pitchfork , Silverskin Armor , Skyblinder Staff , Spidersilk Net , Viridian Claw

A primer has to go more in-depth and compare cards to other options imo. For example...
Why so many deathtouch equipments? Aren't Grappling Hook and Nemesis Mask too mana intensive for what they do?
Why are the other boardwipes better than Mass Calcify ?

Vicious Shadows actually doesn't work (nor does Stalking Vengeance, and for the same reason), because when a creature (or in this instance a token) doesn't die when it's exiled. I would suggest Warstorm Surge instead. Which I just noticed was in the maybeboard. Speaking of cards in the maybeboard, Swiftfoot Boots is probably better than Lightning Greaves here because shroud makes Valduk untargetable for equip costs. This would normally not be a problem; just equip it to a different creature for 0 mana. However with a semi-creatureless brew like this you'd have to do all your equipping on the postcombat main phase.
I might suggest some of the human-based equipment from OG Innistrad; Avacyn's Collar, Bladed Bracers, Butcher's Cleaver, Heirloom Blade could be really cool (and you could run a human or two for good measure), Sharpened Pitchfork is nice, though first strike is kinda useless, Silver-Inlaid Dagger is AWESOME, and Slayer's Plate may get some work done.
Some generally good equipments include Champion's Helm for hexproof, Chitinous Cloak to force opponents to make tough blocker choices, honestly General's Kabuto may be worth is as the ultimate protection card, you could consider Kitesail for evasion, Konda's Banner would be great and pump your tokens (and yes it would give Valduk +2/+2), Kusari-Gama would be a serious 'don't block me or I fuck you' effect, Ogre's Cleaver is honestly insane, Pariah's Shield, though costly, more or less makes you untouchable, Pennon Blade is worth the cost, the classic Short Sword, Sigiled Sword of Valeron is dece, Skullclamp is OH MY GOD, Strata Scythe is equally insane, the swords are famously insanely powerful, Trusty Machete is okay, Vorrac Battlehorns is an easy way to win fast, and Vulshok Battlegear and Vulshok Morningstar are decent.
And yes, I did slog through every equipment in Magic history to find those.
Props to Heliogabale for some good ideas on cuts. I might add No-Dachi, seems a little overcosted (also it's worth noting Mask of Avacyn has the same mana specs for an arguably better effect), Skeleton Key is not going to do anything for very long, Valduk is probably going to be too big too fast to make use of first strike (@ Sparring Collar), Browbeat is 5 damage to an opponent for 3 mana. Realistically no one is going to let you draw 3 cards.
Sorry, this comment was a looong one.

Cut all the LD and mana rocks then focus your efforts on mana reduction and utility redundancy, you win by drawing your deck and playing all your impact cards for free and have more options than the board can deal with. Keep the caravan tho as it draws a card, comes in untapped, produces white mana, and artifacts can be cast for free.
If you're really bored, you should check out my version of this "Option Sram" i've been talking about, I even built my creature list around a card called Heirloom Blade which I don't see many people doing with Srams. Good luck out there, my playgroup is 6+ consistently and Sram gets most of the love but he can still pop off pretty hard.

Here's a bunch of budget stuff I don't see mentioned
Cultivator's Caravan - Taps for Comes in untapped Draw a card
Prowler's Helm - Unblockable
Semblance Anvil - Mana Fix
Oketra's Monument - Mana Fix
Inspiring Statuary - Mana Fix
Relic Seeker - Tutor
Ogre's Cleaver - Damage
Inventors' Fair - Tutor
Mass Calcify - Removal
Karoo - Land
Ring of Evos Isle - Hexproof, costs mana but its more budget hexproof

Balan, Wandering Knight will become the Commander when I next update the deck. I don't change things the instant new cards come out and keep the deck on a set update schedule. The next update should be sometime in October.
Additional Mana Rocks - Not going that route. I don't need to rush Balan onto the battlefield, so the early game will be designated to preparing the board like it was with Eight-and-a-Half-Tails as the Commander. Additionally, Sword of the Animist is my first choice from an early tutor.
Sram, Senior Edificer - Will probably still have a place in the deck. Waiting for Ixalan to be completely spoiled first.
Knight Exemplar - This is a Tribal card. It's not suited for Voltron.
Bastion Protector - Tried it when Commander 2015 came out and didn't really like it. It doesn't do anything if Balan is out of commission and its 3/3 body doesn't allow it to work with Reveillark and Recruiter of the Guard.
Ogre's Cleaver - Too dull. I prefer Equipment that have some form of additional utility beyond P/T boosts. Equip is also a pretty high for what it does.
