Silver-Inlaid Dagger Discussion

SilverBlaze109 on Kor Equipment: Modern Competitive?

I (also) run an Equipment deck. But, I run Boros for Goblin Gaveleer. Looking at your deck, I like it. I suggest a playset of Siguarda's Aid. In my experience, I've found that 15 creatures is too few of a number. I suggest 18-20. You might consider more cheap equipment like Silver-Inlaid Dagger or Trusty Machete. You might want the Dagger if you get Mirran Crusader. Prying Blade is also good for mana ramp with Kor Duelist. Overall, I see a problem with consistency as you have too many 1-ofs. But, I like the look of it. Take everything in this post with a grain of salt as you might have a better experience. Have Fun!

SilverBlaze109 on SUIT UP! - A White Weenie Equipment Deck

The swords are a good option. I suggest a playset of Kor Duelist. I suggest replacing Kor Outfitter with something extra copies of other cards due to it being only a one time thing. Siguarda's Aid is basically a free equip plus combat tricks. I wouldn't run Quest for the Holy Relic as it would be slow with only 19 creatures. In my experience, as a Boros Equipment player, with 19 creatures you don't cast 5 creatures and still have the Quest. Your experience might be different though. I would also get a playset of Bonesplitter as it is arguably the best, cheap equipment.Silver-Inlaid Dagger would be better over Trusty Machete due to the extra damage on certain creatures. Overall, you need to get playsets of the best cards to help with consistency. I do like how this deck looks. Great Job!

I was questioning whether or not to include Isochron Scepter in list. It's nuts by itself but it also brings the alure of adding Dramatic Reversal which makes Shu Yun a one shot kill. It's one of those "once you have one you may as wll just add the other" card. But I can see the appeal of scepter even by itself. I will add it and Fabricate to the maybe board for now.

I had Sunforger in my first pass of cards but ultimately chose not to run it. Did you have good experiences with it?

I run the keyrunes becuase they can become creatures with Jeskai Ascendancy to let me keep fueling cantrips - though I'm not sure if the package is worth keeping TBH. while I like the buff/cantrip, it's the main reason for running Alhammarret's Archive and if I replaced all of that with a Paradox Engine I may be able to open up slots. Though the benefits of the cards even outside of combo are good. Thoughts?

Flame Jab is just in there as a way to turn lands int otriggers, but I'm thinking of cutting it for Wear / Tear. Silver-Inlaid Dagger feels really strong, +3/+0 and with double strike it's a huge permanent buff for 3 mana total. But again, I'd be keen for specific thoughts on it.

What do you mean by shooting myself in the foot? too few or too many lands?

I'm trying to steer clear of making the deck too controlly. I play too many draw-land-go control decks and I wanted this list to be more active than reactive.

Is Kraum really that good? I feel like Jori En, Ruin Diver would give me about the same level of value for a lot cheaper. I get that I don't have to play spells to draw cards but wouldn't he inclusion of a second wheel be enough?

Same with Bruse, sure he gives double strike but so does my commander. The lifelink is nice but I'm not sure how necessary it is. What's the added benefit of him over just paying two mana?

Spellslinger Voltron is what I used. Lots of instants to pump, protect and remove.

You could easily run Isochron Scepter and Sunforger. Silver-Inlaid Dagger and Flame Jab are easy cuts.

I would lose the Keyrunes for Talisman of Progress and Mind Stone. 34 lands seems like you are shooting yourself in the foot.

You would probably have better results if your deck was primarily White/Blue;splashing Red. Running fewer Sorceries for more counter spells and utility Instants allows you more flexibility and control.

Kraum, Ludevic's Opus and Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder are great in this deck.

I figure you're limited by your own personal inventory, but you should pick up copies of Hammer of Nazahn and Sigarda's Aid. Both do virtually the same thing and can really speed up your game without being too competitive. That being said, the smaller equipment like Shuko or Silver-Inlaid Dagger are the best place to drop cards for the ones I mentioned. Unless you can consistently have your draw engines out, or have more creatures that care for the number of equipment you have like Goblin Gaveleer, then the low costed and low power equipment are less worth it.

Adding cipher cards would be a nice addition. Hidden Strings and Hands of Binding are both awesome with Invisible Stalker. Curiosity is good on them too. Silver-Inlaid Dagger is good equipment, so is Butcher's Cleaver or Loxodon Warhammer. Truthfully once you get an Invisible Stalker out the deck should start really doing some work, so replacing defenders with creatures to let you dig for them would be cool, Sage Owl Augury Owl Sage of Epityr Sea Gate Oracle, anything that will let you move cards around, I like Sigiled Starfish for that too.

As said before by thehat an indicative budget could help when searching for cards that cuold be add to your deck.

Lingering Souls and Raise the Alarm are very good cards. I'd prefer them to Timely Reinforcements (remember that you need to have less creatures than your opponent or Timely Reinforcements won't give you any token).

As for the lands: consider some Flooded Strand. Personally I don't like so much Moorland Haunt and Forbidding Watchtower and, in my opinion, you should reduce them to 20 in order to don't see them too often. Moorland Haunt is a land that provides you colorless mana and needs 2 specifical mana and a creature in a your graveyard to put a 1/1 token, Forbidding Watchtower enters tapped and needs 2 mana to became a 1/5 creature. Furthermore, I'll reduce to 2 the Mystic Gate. If you don't want to spend money on Flooded Strand consider Glacial Fortress.

I'd cut Acrobatic Maneuver that needs 3 mana cast and you will just use it to bounce a creature and get a +1 +1 on Champion of the Parish or Thalia's Lieutenant if one of them is on the battlefield. If you really want to go this plan I'd add Essence Flux or Ghostly Flicker.

Personally I don't like Silver-Inlaid Dagger. If you want to boost your creatures I'd choose Honor of the Pure.

Another good card you could consider, if your opponent plays lot of creatures, is Ghostly Prison. If you want to control more the board an option could be Detention Sphere or Path to Exile. Wrath of God is a good card but consider also Supreme Verdict.

As for Beguiler of Wills, I understand you really like it, so won't ask you to cut it.
