Mask of the Mimic

Instant

As an additional cost to play Mask of the Mimic, sacrifice a creature.

Search your library for a card with the same name as target nontoken creature and put that card into play. Then shuffle your library.

OwlGamer16 on Does this mean infinite turns?

I was looking to make an infinite turns deck when an idea popped into my head. Isochron Scepter + Mask of the Mimic + Emrakul, the Aeons Torn. But what I'm worried about is how Emrakul's protection from colored spells interacts with Isochron Scepter's ability. Can you not target Emrakul since it's technically a colored spell?

Austin_Smith_of_Cards on My Take on Muldrotha

Seems like a pretty solid list, although there are definitely a few suggestions to make.

You probably misread Mask of the Mimic; it searches for a copy of a creature on the battlefield and puts it into play, which is practically useless in commander singleton. I would not count on opponents having the same creatures as your decklist.

You seem to have an especially strong sacrifice theme present in your creaturebase, so I strongly recommend Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest as a perfect payoff.

I don't know how well Extraplanar Lens works in a tri-colored manabase, even with snow-covered lands as insurance. You could also work Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth into that manabase to combo with Coffers.

You need more boardwipes for vs tokens/aggro matchups, especially ones that don't take down Muldrotha with them. Pernicious Deed and Toxic Deluge are the two strongest ones in that category, I believe.

Recommend Animate Dead/Dance of the Dead/Necromancy as a way to effectively play two creatures out of the graveyard a turn. Also great for yoinking from an opponent's yard.

Baleful Strix is so much better than Alchemist's Apprentice in a lot of ways. The card draw is immediate, it's an absolute headache as a blocker, and it also counts as an artifact, which means you can replay it alongside your creature for the turn with Muldrotha.

Happy brewing!

Hey pedr01988,

thanks for your comment.:-)

Changed Summoner's Pact with Traverse the Ulvenwald. Still should be possible.

Mask of the Mimic left for Surgical Extraction to thin your own, or the enemies deck(specially helpfull against Emrakul, the Aeons Torn.

Hello happyjonny1337,

i think the cards Summoner's Pact and Mask of the Mimic won't work as you want them to in this deck.

Summoner's Pact only searches for green creatures and i can't find any in your deck.

Mask of the Mimic can't get you a copy of the sacrificed creature, because the spell will be countered due to an illegal target.

Maybe you should add some cantrips like Ponder or Preordain to find the needed cards. Other options are Gifts Ungiven, Fabricate or Intuition.

In addition you could add some discard or counter spells to buy some time and disrupt your opponent.

Regards

Pedr0 :-)

Spy Kit can take advantage of Bifurcate, Retraced Image(when a B. is in your hand), and even Mask of the Mimic

Neotrup on When token names are the …

1) Mask of the Mimic has to target a nontoken creature, so you'd have to Clone the token to get Splinter. Doable, but pointless. Once you find the card, you'll attempt to put it onto the battlefield, fail, and instead leave it in your library because of the following:

307.4

Sorceries cant enter the battlefield. If a sorcery would enter the battlefield, it remains in its previous zone instead.

2) Yes

3) Depends. For Pack Hunt, yes. Retraced Image is subject to 307.4. And Bifurcate's Oracle Text says "Permanent Card," as well as "nontoken creature."

4) Sure, but Eradicate would let you use any (nonblack) creature token rather than an artifact creature.
