Sword of the Ages

Artifact

Sword of the Ages enters the battlefield tapped.

, Sacrifice Sword of the Ages and any number of creatures you control: Sword of the Ages deals X damage to target creature or player, where X is the total power of the creatures sacrificed this way, then exile Sword of the Ages and those creature cards.

I dumped an old school Sword of the Ages in my build as an additional wincon

Karametra's Acolyte and Sylvan Caryatid are nonbos with your commander, you should play 3 fewer lands, Sword of the Ages is not a very good card, and you don't have enough payoffs for your commander. I only really see Giant Solifuge, Phytotitan and maybe three other cards that are positively affected by your commander. You should either play more equipments and lean into voltron as a subtheme or fewer and go straight aggro. What is your plan to recover after a boardwipe? How well does the deck function without the commander?

Apologies for splitting this across two posts.

Here are the cards I would consider cutting based on a cursory look at your deck. Since I am not intimately familiar with your deck, some of these suggestions might be incorrect:

  • Retether - you do not have very many targets for this spell (5 total), reducing its effectiveness.

  • Surestrike Trident requires an absurd amount of mana investment, and provides little utility.

  • Mindcrank is a solid card with good combo abilities, but I did not see anything that directly interacted with it. While you cause significant life loss to trigger Mindcrank, I am not sure it justifies a card slot.

  • Amulet of Vigor does not do much for you, other than provide moderate improvements to your land base and allowing a faster trigger of Sword of the Ages. Fixing your lands would effectively eliminate the need for this card.

  • Hero of Iroas and Kitsune Mystic / Autumn-Tail, Kitsune Sage, like Retether, does not have enough targets to justify inclusion.

  • I do not think Norritt provides enough utility to spend 4 mana on a 1/1.

  • I do not think you have enough targets to justify Panharmonicon either.

Yea, I have the big three colorless tutors in the maybeboard. I'm going to be testing them out more extensively soon.

I like Vow of Lightning as much as Assault Suit, which is a bit, but not a whole bunch. I usually don't play pod games, but instead 1v1s. There just isn't anyone who plays EDH in my area anymore. So while they are amazing in a pod, in 1v1 I want to trick my opponent into discarding their hand into using her which doesn't do much if they can only attack me. Vow of Lightning is also an enchantment and doesn't have much recursion value like Assault Suit with Goblin Welder or Daretti, Scrap Savant. I'll definitely add it to the maybeboard and test it out.

Worldslayer is hilarious, but I can't stand the thought of not having mana. Especially if I don't have the right combo and all I can do is Traitorous Blood her for the turn, attach and swing. Then they get Hazoret and Worldslayer and I have nothing. I'mma stay away from this one for just a tid bit.

Sword of the Ages was added because it could target more than 1 creature and because I could recur it from the graveyard with Goblin Welder or Daretti, Scrap Savant in the case that I either discarded it or my opponent(s) recognized the threat and destroyed it. And this was when I had like 140+ cards so I actually had creatures with large P/T to make it viable for a one-shot-kill. I don't have much in the way for recurring Instants. Sure Shreds of Sanity could work there, and hell even my Charmbreaker Devils, but I dislike Shreds of Sanity for the inconsistencies. It would be better if it had flashback and no exiling itself. I guess the Devils could get it.... fine, you convinced me. I'll add it in and test it out. As for Repercussion, the same argument as I posted in response to Zimmers_0: She's attacking me and my creatures and I don't always have the right cards to defend, thus even blocking with a Stuffy Doll will double that damage to my face.

Fetches are here for thinning purposes as well as the Crucible of Worlds combo. I don't play mono-red much and I hate how little ramp they have, so I at least need consistent land drops.

Hmmm. This deck is jank AF...but I'm always on board with jank!

cracks knuckles Let's get this show on the road.

You said you're having trouble finding your combo. The only unconditional tutor in red is Gamble, unless you want to play high-cost artifacts like Ring of Three Wishes or Planar Portal. But since your Bazaar Trader can do the same job, Goblin Matron can find him. If your playgroup plays the Wishes as first intended, you can also use Burning Wish to find a Harmless Offering from outside of the game.

This deck could happily embrace Vow of Lightning to keep Hazoret from whacking you. Confusion in the Ranks could also be a very good card here, since Hazoret the Fervent has haste and thus is a prime target to be stolen by everyone.

Have you considered Worldslayer to equip to Hazoret when you control her? You could also use some more removal (particularly Chaos Warp and Blasphemous Act) to remove those pesky Peacekeepers (which get in the way of your fun!).

As cute as Sword of the Ages is, I feel like Fling might fit your purposes better here. Also, Repercussion is a must when you can hit your opponents with cards like Nahiri's Wrath :D

What's with the fetches here? You don't have any library-manipulation effects and you're in mono-colors.

Deck looks entertainingly unique :) You certainly get my +1, lol.
