Sigil of Valor

Artifact — Equipment

Whenever equipped creature attacks alone, it gets +1/+1 until end of turn for each other creature you control.

Equip (: Attach this to target creature you control. Equip only as a sorcery. This enters the battlefield unattached and stays on the battlefield if the creature this card is attached to leaves the battlefield.)

Hi KBK7101, I think your deck looks pretty solid to start off. I do have some suggestions on cards I think you can eventually upgrade. First few cuts I think you can make safely are:

  • Sigil of Valor, Akki Ronin, Peerless Samurai - These can likely be cut since they only care about a singular Samurai, Warrior, or Creature attacking alone, and I think that goes against the Go-Wide token theme you want to implement.

  • Slumbering Dragon, Blood Reckoning, & Search the Premises - These are for sure meta calls. I cut Pillow Fort effects from my deck because my play group would remove Isshin, then tank through standard triggers, or they'd leave me alone, and I wouldn't get any of the benefits. Your mileage may vary depending on your meta.

  • Velomachus Lorehold Maybe. Mostly because they look for Instants and Sorceries. I do like that they have Haste, so you don't have to wait. Ultimately up to you.

I think all of the stuff in your maybe-board could be swapped in pretty safely. Hopefully once Commissar Severina Raine and Inquisitorial Rosette get some In-Universe printings, you can add them to your consideration.

I'd also highly suggest Plumb the Forbidden, Deadly Dispute, and maaaaybe Liliana's Standard Bearer as some more potential draw options in a token strategy.

Both Purphoros, God of the Forge and Mishra, Claimed by Gix  Meld are excellent damage finishers in a token strat (but are definitely expensive upgrades).

Like the idea, have you looked at any "if this creature attacks alone" type abilities like Rafiq of the Many, Sigil of Valor, or Security Bypass?

Hey Breastiny, good to see other people brewing with Isshin!

I'd see about maybe running Kentaro, the Smiling Cat as a cheap mana-fixer, to ensure you never have the wrong colors. Fumiko the Lowblood is an excellent card here; your opponents are forced to swing, even with creature they don't want want to attack with. They will either attack other opponents (helping you win) or attack into a pumped-up Fumiko, which will lose them their creatures. In a true Samurai tribal deck, Nagao, Bound by Honor, Takeno, Samurai General, Konda, Lord of Eiganjo and Godo, Bandit Warlord can't be omitted.

As niche picks, consider Iizuka the Ruthless and Opal-Eye, Konda's Yojimbo. The former will put your foes on the back foot, as they never know when the double strike might come through. The latter provides defensive utility, especially late-game when you have access to more mana.

On the non-Samurai end of things, some Equipment that synergizes with Isshin seems like a good call. Sword of the Animist gets even better by fetching you 2 basics instead of 1, while Sigil of Valor and Reaper's Talisman double up on your other 'attacks alone' effects. Other Equipment improved by Isshin includes Argentum Armor, Delver's Torch, Moonsilver Spear Sword of Hours and Trepanation Blade. If you find yourself in need of additional (non-Samurai) cannon fodder, Captain's Claws and Sigiled Sword of Valeron will do in a pinch.

Hope this helps! Good luck :)

Crackdown is a great card to run in a meta with attacking creatures, unless there are multiple mono-white decks in your meta.

Fireshrieker is a great equipment, effectively doubling Kemba's power.

Trailblazer's Boots is generally better than Vorrac Battlehorns. Even this deck runs a fair number of nonbasic lands, and if your opponents control even one Hallowed Fountain or Watery Grave, Kemba would become unblockable vs them. It's a great card- highly recommended.

Stoneforge Masterwork is essentially a faster version of Mask of the Valiant- every token Kemba churns out makes her bigger, which is huge since her power starts off so small. Basically any game in which this, Sigil of Valor, or Mask of the Valiant would be drawn is a game where Kemba must be dealt with immediately as you can completely run away with the game with decent sources of evasion or double strike, since she makes her own gravy.
