Cloak of Confusion

Enchantment — Aura

Enchant creature

Whenever enchanted creature attacks and isn't blocked, you may have it deal no combat damage this turn. If you do, defending player discards a card at random.

Thanks! I've gotten to test some now and what I'm finding is also what I estimated to be true which is that it struggles with all out aggro decks like stompy and slivers, but has a decent match up against everyone else. Cards that can buy time against those decks are invaluable

Curfew is a good option for aggro and has other uses such as Gurmag Angler and reanimator strategies

Enchantment Alteration great against boggles and can be played when drawn for a sneak attack unlike counter magic

Diabolic Edict / Chainer's Edict boggles, stompy, slivers

Cloak of Confusion I've had a love affair with this card since I first saw it and have been looking for a home for it since and I think the faeries sideboard might be it. While sitting on a hand of countermagic backup as you often do, resolving this can be devastating against control, tron and tons of other decks, dont underestimate RANDOM discard!!!

Okay, so if this pairing, we are doing tempo things again, you're doing proactive hand destruction while I'm doing reactive permission, but we both get crushed pretty hard to if the board gets wiped. Living Death so you can tutor it for those matchups where we need to be expecting to get wrathed?

The way I think about discard is you-choose-what-they-discard is better than discard-at-random which is better than opponent-chooses-what-to-discard. You don't have to force them to discard everything, the right thing is enough. I'd run Cloak of Confusion over Mind Rot to make a one drop with evasion into a hypnotic spectre.

Pharika's Chosen -> Soltari Foot Soldier Do you still have this one? evasion better than death touch?

Go for the Throat -> Cull the Weak You're leaning really heavily into small creatures now and have a lot of powerful x spell and wincons that rely on quite a lot of mana, so it's likely you will have a creature to sac to power out an adNaus/hatred/hellfire/mindTwist. also useful for the turn you adnaus as a redundant dark ritual for a sickening dreams/collective brutality

how are you going to use Unearth and Reanimate here? small 1/1 flier fells bad to reanimate with these, maybe consider slotting Fellwar Stone, MindStone in to help out with the mana situation or the other cards named above?

only_the_finest Thanks for the suggestions. This deck sometimes has trouble dealing lethal damage which is the main reason Shadow Slice is in the deck. Cloak of Confusion seems pretty nice, ill try it out to see how I like it.

I see Greater Auramancy in your maybe. I feel it's too good to pass up in a Zur deck, and after that reconsider Copy Enchantment to give it shroud.

I guy I played against ran Luminarch Ascension and Mobilization along with Attrition and it was annoying. Other ones that may work with it (or be useful by themselves) are Sacred Mesa and Waste Not. The guy also used Reconnaissance.

In addition to Waste Not, you could add in Chains of Mephistopheles since you don't actually draw, or add in Cloak of Confusion, Oppression or Mind Slash.

If you find yourself against token decks, Illness in the Ranks and Virulent Plague could be useful

Of course, I always played at least 4 player games whenever the deck was in play.
