Neko-Te Discussion

It looks like Brallin is the source of the discard damage? I see you already have the infect cheese combo. You could also Sigil of Sleep, Curiosity (or any of 4 or 5 cards that do the same thing) and maybe Neko-Te.

Thanks for your feedback, Savag3B3ast !

I really like the infect trick and it is one of the first killing mechanics that sprouted on my mind when I started the deck. From that, I only kept Phyresis, mainly for two reasons :

  • Phyresis seems the only "viable" infect spell in the lot to me. The Grafted Exoskeleton seems too dangerous for Konrad (I think artifact removal or ability to kill him by bypassing the shroud/hexproofs artifacts I intend to equip him). The Tainted Strike is nice and cheap but it isn't permanent. There is also Glistening Oil but it's just a time bomb because I have no counter removal in this deck.

  • At the beginning, I tried to build a deck using all (or most) of the mechanics that triggers Syr Konrad. But that idea, as sexually attractive as it was to me, was clearly unrealistic. So I tried to focus more on one or two of them (here I chose Mill and Reanimation, which are highly synergic), while letting a few spots empty for other Konrad relevant strategies. Things like infect or lifelink to cite the most basic examples.

I've been thinking a lot about Neko-Te these days, but I'm still reticent about it's addition in the list. I don't even know why. But I think it would be a killer in your Konrad-Infect deck. I'll be pleased to take a look at it if you would upload it on the site one of these days.

If you're going to devote a deck to your favorite card (Nice choice, mine's Soulcatchers' Aerie), I would go all in. For example, in Dimir, Mana Skimmer is the Timeshifted version of Somnophore.

Time of Ice, Quiet Contemplation, Back to Basics, Dream Tides, Wrath of Marit Lage, Temporal Distortion, Neko-Te Thalakos Dreamsower, Wall of Stolen Identity, Frost Titan, Queen of Ice, Wall of Ice, Niblis of Frost, Guardian of Tazeem, Icefall Regent, Dungeon Geists, Mesmerizing Benthid, House Guildmage, Tidebinder Mage, Watertrap Weaver, Frost Lynx, Stitched Mangler, Fogwalker, and Vertigo Spawn would probably be my picks for "freeze" tribal.

Alternately, if you're not invested in Dimir, so much as in the creature itself, you could build a Derevi, Empyrial Tactician, or Empress Galina deck, since those commanders probably best represent what the card is doing.

I recommend Mimic Vat. It can double and in some cases triple the amount of damage Konrad deals. When a creature dies, put it on the vat: that's 1 damage from dying, and another damage for leaving the grave if the creature was yours. Then the old imprinted creature falls off the vat, another damage. So 2-3 damage per creature dying instead of 1!

Here are others you might consider: Neko-Te, Witch's Cottage, Memorial to Folly, Crypt of Agadeem, Buried Alive, Champion of Stray Souls, Death Denied, Empty the Catacombs, Footbottom Feast, Bone Harvest, Wake the Dead, Geth, Lord of the Vault, Cauldron of Souls, Dread Summons, Awaken the Erstwhile

Neither.

Neko-Te has an ability that triggers when the equipped creature deals damage to a player. In your example, Lightning Elemental will deal 4 damage to your opponent, which will trigger Neko-Te's second ability. When that triggered ability resolves, your opponent will lose 1 life. The Elemental is not dealing an extra damage, nor is its damage replaced.

It's important to note that the life loss from Neko-Te's second ability is not damage. If something cares about a player being damaged, this ability will not trigger that. For instance, Sower of Discord will not trigger from the Neko-Te life loss, only from the damage the Elemental did.

Neko-Te says "Whenever equipped creature deals damage to a player, that player loses 1 life."

Let's say that I'm attacking my opponent with Lightning Elemental which is a 4/1 creature. The Lightning Elemental is equipped with Neko-Te.

Does this mean that the Lightning Elemental will deal 1 additional damage to the player, making the total damage it deals 5, or does this mean the Lightning Elemental will only deal 1 damage to the player?
