Hey, you don't have 100 cards, don't need to make cuts just yet ;)

Your deck is missing Marisi as Commander. In the deck editor add the CMDR tag after Marisi text.

Marisi, Breaker of the Coil *CMDR*

Doing this will make Marisi the official Commander and show the card image.

Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Eladamri's Call are some staple cards within the budget here.

Goblin Spymaster is another repeatable way to give your opponents creatures. Bedlam makes it so your opponents kill each other with unblockable creatures since they're not going to be attacking you. Mass Hysteria gives all creatures haste. Grenzo, Havoc Raiser and Agitator Ant can be repeatable goad.

The shadow ability is good with Marisi since opponents are not going to have creatures with shadow thus shadow creatures will consistently do combat damage to a player and trigger Marisi.

More flying creatures will also consistently do combat damage to a player to trigger Marisi.

Land upgrades to consider:

Good luck with your deck.

Thanks Barrysaurus! I didn't have a sideboard for this deck (it was part of the tournament rules) but I would certainly consider putting Lashwrithe there as I really only needed them for match-ups that extended into late-game. One of the biggest problems with this deck is that there is really no turn one plays. While not technically shadow, Tormented Soul would be a nice t1 creature to start chipping in damage. I thought about also running white to add other creatures like Soltari Foot Soldier but in the end I wanted to go simple and avoid any mana issues.

During the tournament, the deck was very strong against one-on-one matches. There were a couple decks that were able to gain life early but it didn't cause too much of an issue. If there was a lot of life-gain, lashwrithe was able to shred quickly once it hit the board. This deck was pretty good against other aggro decks; Vampiric Link is an amazing card as you can boost your own life or put it on an opponent's creature to effectively pacify it. The only really weak match-up was against an aggro infect deck. It effectively negated all my Vampiric Links and also capitalized the deck's very limited blocking options.

The biggest issue was with multiplayer match-ups but that's not surprising, given the aggressive nature (and very limited defensive ability) of the deck.

While my play group plays more Commander these days, I still use it every once in a while. It's still fun to play and has even held its own against several modern decks.

Maybe removing a few more of the straight vanilla fliers? As much to get it to 100 as to keep it to novel cards that spice things it up. I like that goblin ballon brigade makes you work for it... not efficient, but fun(ny).

Oh man, I remember I used to have a Soltari Foot Soldier... totally forgot about that card, but I remember loving the art when I had it 22 years ago. Bonus points for this one.

I like the cards that are giving other people creatures.. What about Descent of the Dragons as a removal for things that are hurting your strategy, and as a trade giving them beaters to hit your other opponents? Sharing is caring after all. Terastodon could also be excellent in the flavour of removal.

An eventual card to add—if this deck proves to be fun enough to keep together and do 1 or 2 little upgrades for—would be Blade of Selves. Myriad cards could be great to explore in general, but it's nice to be able to choose which creature has it.

Primal Vigor? A sweet global enchantment, especially when you WANT to give other people tokens and counters.

I wish there was black in here... Clackbridge Troll (eldraine) would be fun.

Loving the chaos!!

What's the appeal of Gingerbrute? Sure it's cheap and got haste but you have to pay to make it unblockable* everytime, and it doesn't do much otherwise. (If I really wanted a 1 CMC evasion creature I'd probably just go for Soltari Foot Soldier or something.)

For better or worse, I feel my deck is too bottom-heavy for Selvala's Stampede to be a haymaker at CMC 6.

I'm standing by sunny Elspeth for now since she herself can live trough most wraths and get to rebuilding with a token per opponent right away.

(Also I kinda have the urge to brew a superfriends Marisi deck now, we'll see if that goes anywhere)

perhaps a Mind's Eye over Vanquisher's Banner and a Kindred Boon to hand out to key soldiers. Tragic Arrogance is like a Cataclysmic Gearhulk, but you get to pick what your opponents are losing. the Odric, Lunarch Marshal is handy for passing out buffs, and Odric, Master Tactician is great for combat manipulation. Mirror Entity is a great soldier that provides a great base stat change. Ranger of Eos is also a soldier and fetches some handy 1 costs, like your Legion Loyalist and Soltari Foot Soldier. Overall, cool deck. +1

Okay, so if this pairing, we are doing tempo things again, you're doing proactive hand destruction while I'm doing reactive permission, but we both get crushed pretty hard to if the board gets wiped. Living Death so you can tutor it for those matchups where we need to be expecting to get wrathed?

The way I think about discard is you-choose-what-they-discard is better than discard-at-random which is better than opponent-chooses-what-to-discard. You don't have to force them to discard everything, the right thing is enough. I'd run Cloak of Confusion over Mind Rot to make a one drop with evasion into a hypnotic spectre.

Pharika's Chosen -> Soltari Foot Soldier Do you still have this one? evasion better than death touch?

Go for the Throat -> Cull the Weak You're leaning really heavily into small creatures now and have a lot of powerful x spell and wincons that rely on quite a lot of mana, so it's likely you will have a creature to sac to power out an adNaus/hatred/hellfire/mindTwist. also useful for the turn you adnaus as a redundant dark ritual for a sickening dreams/collective brutality

how are you going to use Unearth and Reanimate here? small 1/1 flier fells bad to reanimate with these, maybe consider slotting Fellwar Stone, MindStone in to help out with the mana situation or the other cards named above?

Shadow Creatures... I had a mono-white Shadow deck back in the day that wrecked. Check this out,

T1: Soltari Foot Soldier

T2: Archery Training, Flickering Ward

T3: Empyrial Armor

T4: Serra's Blessing

They can't block or target your creature (pretty much) and you can pick off their attackers with Archery Training. I also ran a lot of bull like Story Circle, and Scent of Jasmine, but Magic was a different game back then...

I don't play EDH, but I've always thought that I want to make a deck that uses Mogis, God of Slaughter as it's Commander.

I love meta breaking brews that aren't supposed to work but do. I have a devil deck that has proven to be the experience you talked about called Sinful Devils that got everybody talking at FNM last week. The people I beat and the people that beat me were excited that I was playing the cards that I had together. There were many dynamic moments that put the decisions in your opponents hands, and it sounds like a deck you may enjoy.

In fact, that was reason I came here was to tell you about that deck since you had mentioned Impact Tremors on my Modern Goblins. I read your introduction and basically everything you said hit home. Very cool.

Also, Squirrels.
