PHILOSOPHY

This is less a refined cube, and more a proof of concept. The idea is that you should not build cubes with careful synergies and archetypes - this will make the picks too obvious and more like a higher power version of regular drafting. This does have some cool aspects, like reading signals and hate drafting, which is fine if your favorite part of cube drafting is free practice for paid drafting. My personal favorite, though, is when my friend pulled out Arcane Savant + Twinflame as a one-card splinter twin out of nowhere. Basically, cubes have a much greater potential for anyone who loves breaking a new format. It means you can get a way greater, way more interesting set of interwoven synergies and combos, very quickly. A whole new format to explore in a day.

To maximize this potential, I didn't try to balance this cube at all at first - I simply took some interesting commanders with multiple synergies, and then started searching for cards with those synergies and multiple more. Each time I added a synergy, I unlocked more cards with 3+ synergies, and the web grew outwards, until I got close to the end. Then, I filled in the curve with low drops and instants/sorceries in the colors that needed them. I got it all done in a day worth of searching, and from now on I could probably just take a big, random chunk of this cube's synergies, repeat the process, and get a whole new format in half that time.

With that out of the way:

RULES

DRAFT ORDER:

1 pack general, 1 pack commander, 2 packs general. Decksize is minimum 60, no maximum (so that Yorion and Worldknit function). Drafted commanders can be used in your 59.

BACKGROUNDS, PARTNERS

Partners, Choose a Background, Friends Forever, and the Doctor type, etc are all treated as Choose a Background.

Partners, Friends Forever, Doctor's Companion, the Background type are all treated as Backgrounds.

If your commander doesn’t have one of these things, and you drafted Clara Oswald, Faceless One, or The Prismatic Piper, you can have one of those three as a second commander.

FREE STUFF:

People get: Up to 10 total of Scrylands, Bouncelands, Filter Duals, and Artifact Duals for free. (The default should be 3+ color, with 2 color only being used for really broken monocolor commanders + a special partner.)

This isn't a complete list, but these are the biggest ones I intentionally searched for. (For example, Scrying/Miracles is definitely a subtheme, but required no searching.)
