Noble Heritage

Legendary Enchantment — Background

Commander creatures you own have "When this creature enters the battlefield and at the beginning of your upkeep, each player may put two +1/+1 counters on a creature they control. For each opponent who does, you gain protection from that player until your next turn." ((Remember the acronym debt.) You can't be damaged, enchanted, equipped, blocked or targeted by anything controlled or casted by that player. Anything controlled by that player attached to you immediately falls off.)

Can I also add +1/+1 counters to my stuff using Noble Heritage or is it only opponents that can utilize that offer?

I'm in the process of brewing a deck with Wilson, Refined Grizzly and Shameless Charlatan with the idea of turning Wilson into a copy of whatever is the best creature on the battlefield. Wilson's cheap to cast and has some baked in protection and nice abilities in case there's nothing great to copy. I'll be putting a bunch of +1/+1 and ability counters on Wilson. Kind of a build my own voltron.

I also built a background tribal deck with Tana, the Bloodsower and Tymna the Weaver at the helm called You Came From Where?. Its pretty low budget (I just bought some cards to slightly improve the mana base) but it can be surprisingly powerful. Its not surprising, but Noble Heritage and Raised by Giants are really, really good with Tana and Tymna. I've made tons of saprolings and gained a whole lot of life very quickly. Basically partner commanders are very strong with backgrounds.

Overall I really like what they did with them. They meet the need that Battle for Baldur's Gate had for the draft environment without really breaking things like the partner mechanic kind of has.

Harmonic Prodigy doubles both the triggers from Baeloth Barrityl, Entertainer & Noble Heritage since background abilities originates from the creature commander. Worth keeping in mind for other creature/background pairings where triggers and wizards/shamans are involved.

Hello fellow Noble!Baeloth aficionado, just wanted to pop in to suggest Harmonic Prodigy since it works with both Baeloth's Treasure triggers and Noble Heritage's counter triggers (because it actually gives the ability to Baeloth, who is a Shaman).

Gleeock: that might actually be the best pairing come to think of it. With Baeloth growing in size every turn, he is sure to keep the smaller creatures attacking elsewhere and the one "big" creature that may outsize Baeloth, you have protection from (assuming they choose to grow a creature). Plus the additional protection means they can't kill Baeloth. It feels like Baeloth+Noble Heritage kind of takes out two issues with the voltron strategy in one go. That could be a very interesting build.
