Torrent of Souls

Sorcery

Return up to one target creature card from your graveyard to play if {B] was spent to play Torrent of Souls. Creatures target player controls get +2/+0 and gain haste until end of turn if {R} was spent to play Torrent of Souls. (Do both if {B}{R} was spent.)

Love the concept and flavor (+1). Do you think Torrent of Souls would fit here? I know it's a bit expensive, but the idea of the presence of a bunch of little devils raising Rakdos back from the grave makes me laugh.

Hi! Thanks for your advices! I'm actually thinking about yours propositions of cards. Actually I bought: Burnished Hart -> Gadrak, the Crown-Scourge - I don't like Gadrak, really, it was bad choice Hellkite Courser -> Forgestoker Dragon - I don't need that card, cause my creatures have flying and they are so strong Path of Ancestry -> I don't know, probably for mountain I have too: Terminate Torrent of Souls - it's better Bond of Revival for me. I'm slowly buying new, more expensive cards. They are in my maybeboard. Discarding a cards is very important mechanic in my deck, but I want to have mana to casting my creatures from hand too. I think about cards like a Glint-Horn Buccaneer (I have) too, but making my deck with discarding mechanic means rebuilding all deck.

This list looks really good. I have a few thoughts:

With regard to combo packages, you generally want to use pieces that can be valuable on their own, while taking as few card-slots as possible. I highly suggest only leaving in the Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker and the Worldgorger Dragon combos. I say this because the other combos require more cards that are dead on their own and/or cost too much mana. Leaving in just two combos, which have some interchangeable parts, means you have more slots for disruption, the deck is more consistent, and the average power of each top-deck you get increases.

You may want to consider haste-enabling reanimation magic, since you can use it to combo off without needing your general on the table. In general, the more you can combo off independent of your commander, the more frequently you'll win; people know 'kill on sight' generals, and can generally keep them off the table. Some spells to consider are: Corpse Dance (stacking the creatures you Buried Alive so Necrotic Ooze is on top of your 'yard), Shallow Grave (same stack) and Torrent of Souls . Obviously, this is a secondary method, but it's worth considering running one of these spells.

Your opponents are going to hate on you pretty hard (as people hate on all combo decks), so counter-disruption is going to be necessary. By Force is a powerful way to knock out Grafdigger's Cage , Nihil Spellbomb and similar stuff. Enchantment-based hate is a lot more difficult to deal with in Rakdos; I suggest using Engineered Explosives and/or Blast Zone to deal with cards like Leyline of the Void or Rest in Peace .

Your manabase is good, but I see some room for improvement. I think High Market is probably better than Miren, the Moaning Well as a sac-outlet, simply because it costs a bunch of mana to activate Miren, the Moaning Well . I may be missing something, but I don't think Piranha Marsh and Sunscorched Desert are very good here. I suggest running basic Mountain s and Swamp s instead.

If you craft your manabase carefully, you can run some pretty disruptive nonbasic land hate. Magus of the Moon and Blood Moon are both big hosers in EDH, and Ruination ain't bad either.

I think you're also running two to three too many lands. You're running the best two-mana rocks, but running some of the slightly-less-awesome ones instead of a few lands can let you ramp to cast your general turn three. Mind Stone , Fellwar Stone and Coldsteel Heart are all good in addition to your Sol Ring , Talisman of Indulgence , etc.

Finally, red has some pretty great hate cards. Pretty much every deck searches at some point, so Stranglehold is a great card (that also occasionally hoses Narset, Enlightened Master decks). Price of Glory is good as a deterrent to countermagic. Depending on your meta, Flashfires , Boil and Omen of Fire can all end games -- I'm not sure what dork at R and D make Boil and Omen of Fire instants, but he deserves a high five.

Right. That's all I got. Good luck man! Hope this helps.

Update 1:

I noticed that my initial list lacked some ramp. Some cards also underperformed, so here's the changes:

Deathsprout replaces Mortify - Not being able to remove enchantments is not an issue as there's still some powerful interaction. The ability to ramp while removing stuff justifies additional cost.

Torrent of Souls replaces Grave Upheaval - A bit cheaper with an additional upside of pumping all creatures so you have payoff for creating all those tokens. Worth sacrificing that basic landcycling.

Camaraderie replaces Gelatinous Genesis - I found Genesis to be a massive win more and conditional card. It gets really good IF you manage to get a lot of exp counters and put Mizzix on the table. Camaraderie is a solid card that does a lot of stuff this deck wants to achieve.

Kiora's Follower replaces Incubation Druid - Despite +1/+1 counters subtheme, I found that it's actually pretty hard to put them on Druid. I also thought it can give mana of any color. Follower is similiar to Druid, but is fetchable, can untap Gates or Deathrite Shaman when I need them or give pseudo-vigilance to creatures.

Astral Cornucopia replaces Commander's Sphere , Mirrodin's Core replaces Mountain - Not putting them in a deck with proliferate theme was an obvious oversight.

Jhoira of the Ghitu replaces Nin, the Pain Artist - I put Nin as a cheap multicolored card that can be also valuable later. But the value than Nin provides is quite expensive, and using it as removal is even worse. Old Jhoira is also cheap and cheating stuff for low cost is always great.

I'm also looking for cuts to put Ramos, Dragon Engine (put him along with Ezuri and live the dream) and Maw of the Obzedat here (great payoff for tokens and costless sac engine)

I would add more creatures, you don't have a ton of offense. Maybe Balefire Liege or Deathbringer Liege , they combo really well with Niv. I know you don't like it, but funnily enough Urban Evolution might fit. theres also the classic Countersquall if you decide you dont like Dimir Charm (which I don't). Deathsprout would also be a nice fit

I don't love Ethereal Absolution Ancient Excavation or Treacherous Terrain . I don't know how important the land cycling is in the cuts im recommending (I'm guessing very) but I like Torrent of Souls over Grave Upheaval and I don't think the cycling justifies these cards

I like the changes! Looks like a solid deck. The last thing I would do to tune it is look at the bottom end of the curve. Gibbering Fiend and Pilfering Imp are cute, but now that you've removed your token producers, you'll have a tough time feeding Demonlord of Ashmouth , Eater of Hope , Xathrid Demon , Shadowborn Demon , and Infernal Offering . You've still got some cards that care about going wide, like Torrent of Souls , Hellrider , and Skirsdag High Priest .

The rate on Hordeling Outburst is good. For a reanimator deck, Skirk Ridge Exhumer , Cryptbreaker , Call the Bloodline , and Silversmith are also good. At the top end of the curve, Abhorrent Overlord could also warrant consideration. Also, in the land slot, if you feel your manabase is good, I like Kher Keep . Speaking of the manabase, Urborg Volcano and Tresserhorn Sinks are better in your deck than Evolving Wilds or Terramorphic Expanse . Rix Maadi, Dungeon Palace is a good utility land for reanimator. Also, Pyramid of the Pantheon and Molten Slagheap are real bad. Myriad Landscape is miles better.

My favorite low-curve option for pumping out bodies is Hanweir Garrison . Hanweir Battlements would be a sweet addition, as well, and I think it's better in this deck than Hammer of Purphoros . You don't really want to be taxing your lands with a deck full of 5+ drops, and I could say the same for Underworld Connections . It looks like a budget Phyrexian Arena , but it's really not. You're pretty good on card draw at this point, but if you really feel the need for another source, Night's Whisper is a clean, solid option.

If you're going to build a deck as cheap as $30, you're probably going to have to lean on a theme to make it functional. That can be supplemented with the fact that even mediocre demons and devils are good at not being coin-flipped away, but stuff like Dance with Devils wasn't even playable in Limited.

I see some reanimator stuff going on, so if you go that route, Torrent of Souls , Zombify , and Profane Command are all solid budget options. You'll want some graveyard stocking power to go with it. Mindwrack Demon , Extractor Demon , Archfiend of Ifnir , pull double duty. Cathartic Reunion , Dark Deal , Faithless Looting , Hazoret's Monument , Khorvath's Fury , Collective Defiance , Shattered Perception , and Tormenting Voice all fit the bill.

Also, Flayer of the Hatebound could power a nice subtheme with your reanimation, and you can stock up on cheap Undying creatures like Demonlord of Ashmouth , Hound of Griselbrand , and Pyreheart Wolf to lower your budget and synergize with Rakdos. Charmbreaker Devils could also be a house once you stock the yard.

Also, maybe improve general card quality by splurging on Bloodgift Demon and Demon of Wailing Agonies ? Demon's Horn , Carnage Altar , Rakdos Riteknife , Devils' Playground , Dance with Devils , Consume the Meek , and Rite of Belzenlok , Archdemon of Greed , Temple of the False God , Tomb of Urami , and Kindly Stranger  Flip are all pretty bad. Akoum Refuge and Bloodfell Caves seem like easy adds, as well.

xephilios on Grixis ooze

Yes I wish...unfortunately no haste... So I can't combo with it

Lunge is the cheapest way to get a hasty ooze from the graveyard

Only other options really are Makeshift Mannequin ... But it actually doesn't work cuz ooze targets it self with Kiki ability so dies to it self

And Torrent of Souls at 5 mana
