White Plume Adventurer
Creature — Orc Cleric
When this enters, you take the initiative.
At the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, untap a creature you control. If you've completed a dungeon, untap all creatures you control instead.

This is a great list but I think you need more lands and mana rocks. Also just a heads up that transforming cards like Ojer Taq cannot be played as their transformed side; you would have to play it as a creature first and transform it before using it as a land.
Personally I would make these swaps:
Second Breakfast -> Windbrisk Heights
Vizier of Deferment -> Shefet Dunes
Ajani, Inspiring Leader -> Bonders' Enclave
Transmutation Font -> Arch of Orazca
Fortifying Provisions -> Fountainport
Bill the Pony -> Minas Tirith
Drannith Magistrate -> Manakin
Flaming Fist Officer -> Hedron Crawler
Odric, Master Tactician -> Gold Myr
Oltec Matterweaver -> Ornithopter of Paradise
Syr Ginger, the Meal Ender -> Mind Stone
Thraben Doomsayer -> Coat of Arms
Gingerbrute -> White Plume Adventurer
Food Coma -> Magewright's Stone
Hobbit's Sting -> Drumbellower
Dawn Charm -> Halo Fountain
jzt0 on Abdel Adrian - Comboing Off …
1 month ago
My situation: Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward has Assimilation Aegis in exile with his ability. Candlekeep Sage, White Plume Adventurer, and Prismatic Lens on board, with Werefox Bodyguard in hand. At the end of my turn, my friend casts an overloaded Cyclonic Rift. I respond by casting my Bodyguard, targeting Abdel. If we are now both fully tapped out, am I able to combo off to my heart’s desire, essentially winning through the Undercity losing 5 life (Trap Room), getting a large amount of mana through Lens, BEFORE his Cyclonic Rift resolves? Please let me know if I need to clarify! Thank you!!

With today's banned and restricted announcement, I have added Expressive Iteration and White Plume Adventurer to this list.

Totally understandable Althuran. Isshin can do a lot with attack triggers, I think I should have reframed my question a bit more specifically. Are you looking to:
- Create a swarm of token creatures using attack triggers
- Make use of attack triggers when single creatures attack in combat, such as Exalted effects like Akrasan Squire, or Peerless Samurai
- Pillow fort effects and Goad control with things like Marchesa's Decree, Revenge of Ravens, Caltrops, and Vengeful Ancestor
- Dungeon Venturing value from stuff like White Plume Adventurer, Nadaar, Selfless Paladin, or Triumphant Adventurer
- Extra combat steps with things like Karlach, Fury of Avernus or Aurelia, the Warleader
- A mix of all of the above
From my own experience playing Isshin, I think he's strongest when you focus on one of the avenues above, and sprinkle in bits of the other avenues for support, especially given what you tend to encounter in your playgroup or local meta.
Phyrexian Arena being cheaper is definitely nice. I will say though that Arena is at its best when played around turn 2-3 if you can pull it off. In later game it feels kinda clunky to wait a whole turn to draw a card, especially if you are in a position where you need answers more immediately. Tome of Legends does have the need to pay and tap to draw, but the trade off is that you can then be selective with when you draw.
All draw options have drawbacks that make them more or less reliable, as well as faster/slower. I guess it depends which potential drawbacks you are most willing to trade off for in your own play experience.

Lmfao that's awesome EvolutionBaby. How are you liking Jan Jansen, Chaos Crafter? I threw together a theoretical list a while ago, that was basically just a combination of my Osgir, the Reconstructor deck and treasure support from my Prosper, Tome-Bound deck.
Monarch is a lot of fun, and it's much easier to keep track of for sure. I considered White Plume Adventurer for my Party deck, but left it out (for now), because of the whole Monarch house rule being introduced. I didn't want to create headaches of having to track both Initiative and Monarch at the same time.

Crow-Umbra I played White Plume Adventurer during my last game night, but with different deck, Jan Jansen, Chaos Crafter. I was able to make a deal with a guy who missed a land drop, and… that was it. I pulled an infinite combo two turns later ;) anyway the initiative have a politics potential, but in my opinion, it’s a little bit weaker then monarch.

Oooo a Goad Isshin list. Glad to see some twists in addition to go-wide Isshin lists.
There's plenty of cool tech out there for Isshin. I have a few things for you to consider for your theme:
-
Mercadia's Downfall - Combat trick for yourself, or use it on your opponents' Goaded stuff.
-
Vengeful Ancestor - A little surprised you didn't have this one in list already.
-
Xantcha, Sleeper Agent - Not budget, but guarantees attacks against opponents & can draw cards/punish outlet for its controller.
-
Keldon Twilight, Angel's Trumpet - Forced combat enablers.
There's def more forced combat & Monarch stuff out there if you're interested. Monarch & Initiative ( White Plume Adventurer) could also be a fun way to introduce politics & get people to swing at each other.
My playgroup has a house rule where every game has Monarch in it by end of turn 3 by default. It's made our games much more dynamic & interactive, also adds a big political element to negotiating swings to get Monarch.

Surprised you’re not running Radiant Solar, White Plume Adventurer, or Nadaar, Selfless Paladin to really make the dungeoneering theme work best. Also, Lae'zel's Acrobatics and Cloudshift can help the blink. And if you’ve got a bit of a budget for upgrades Displacer Kitten is an adorable and efficient way to flicker your stuff.
