Moritte of the Frost

Legendary Snow Creature — Shapeshifter

Changeling (This card is every creature type.)

You may have Moritte of the Frost enter the battlefield as a copy of a permanent you control, except it's a legendary and snow in addition to its other types and, if it's a creature, it enters with two additional +1/+1 counters on it and has changeling.

Hello, i have some recommendations, specifically with the use of Encore in mind

Dormant Sliver- when encored it becomes a draw Y Times y cards were y is the number of opponents, in a 4 player game thats a four mana draw 9, and then each encore thereafter also draws nine, and sure you need a sac outlet to do combat that turn after you draw but your hand will never be fuller

Leeching Sliver + Thorncaster Sliver both deal great damage on declare attacks, with thorncaster able to clear away specific blockers before they can be declared, if only there were a card to quickly generate a lot of bodies for slivers... oh how about Irregular Cohort? although you will need a haste enabler for the tokens that the etb makes

Moritte of the Frost also lets you copy your 3 best permanents (importantly the legend rule is disabled for slivers you control so keep it in mind in play)

also Ward Sliver getting an encore can give you prot from half the color wheel :)

If the original Moritte of the Frost didn't copy anything (and you're keeping it alive with a Gaea's Anthem or something), yes. If the original Moritte entered as a copy of something else, then no.

A key thing to know is that if something is a copy, the results of that copy effect will become the copiable values for that object if something else wants to copy it. This means, for example, if you use Clone to copy Runeclaw Bear, making another copy of that Clone will give you another Runeclaw Bear, not another Clone.

In your example, if Moritte didn't copy anything as it entered the battlefield, then its copiable values will still be all of its printed text, and any copies created by Followed Footsteps etc. can use the printed abilities to become copies of other things as they enter. However, if Moritte copied a Runeclaw Bear, then its copiable values are being a Runeclaw Bear that's a "Legendary Snow Creature - Bear" with changeling and base P/T 2/2 (having +1/+1 counters isn't copiable). Any copies of that will be the same thing, and you'll run into the legend rule since you'll end up with multiple legendary permanents with the same name.

I'm wondering if I have a copy of Moritte of the Frost on the battlefield just as a creature, and I have something that copies it, say, a Followed Footsteps or another clone effect, because I can have Moritte enter as something else, would I be able to copy another permanent I control without falling under the legend rule?

Hey, you're welcome. Good job with the update, thanks for the shoutout.

Thespian's Stage combos with Dark Depths to get Marit Lage. Stage copies Depths to become a copy with no ice counters that's then saced to create Marit Lage. When you copy Depths due to the legendary rule you will have to choose one of them. Choose the Stage copy and put the original Depths into your graveyard. Moritte of the Frost is a budget snow creature who can copy any permanent you control to be snow.

Expanding on self-mill can fuel Muldrotha and get snow lands into your graveyard to reanimate a lot of them at one time with World Shaper. Shaper has to die to trigger it's land effect. Plaguecrafter is great in multiplayer Commander since it makes all your opponents sac a creature, or a Planeswalker or discard a card. It can sac itself making it a nice repeatable effect with Muldrotha.

Self-mill is like draw plus selection with Muldrotha since you fill your graveyard up with permanents to play.

Cemetery Tampering is repeatable self-mill with hideaway 5. When it enters the battlefield you look at the top five cards of your library and choose one of them. This card is then exiled and you may play it for no mana at your upkeep if you have 20 or more cards in your graveyard. Hideaway can be repeatable with Muldrotha if you have a way to destroy Tampering getting it into your graveyard to cast it again.

Seal of Primordium can repeatedly destroy Cemetery Tampering after your upkeep, after you mill, after you play the hideaway card for free. Seal is excellent with Muldrotha having a repeatable effect from an enchantment to remove an artifact or enchantment.

Repeatable protection for Muldrotha, Marit Lage, etc. can be helpful. Muldrotha is going to have a target on it when it enters the battlefield and Kaya's Ghostform can protect from many types of removal. It's one mana to repeatable cast it from your graveyard on your turn to protect Muldrotha.

One of the better ways to protect 20/20 indestructible Marit Lage is giving it hexproof since then exile and bounce opponent removal that targets can't target Marit Lage. Swiftfoot Boots gives equipped creature hexproof as well as haste and that's also powerful with Marit Lage getting to attack the same turn it's created if it's created on your turn. Siren Stormtamer is one mana to cast and one mana to sac to protect a creature or even yourself. Muldrotha makes Stormtamer a repeatable counterspell for creature or yourself protection.

I have a real loathing for all the "kitchen sink" cards that have been cropping up more and more lately - the type that give you a ton of fiddly little incremental advantages. Strixhaven was especially bad for this. Things like Magma Opus, Culmination of Studies, Multiple Choice, Pestilent Cauldron  Flip, Scale the Heights... there's being versatile, then there's being overdesigned and obnoxious.

The same goes for creatures with a number of "might as well" abilities that are likely to never come up in actual gameplay. Questing Beast is perhaps the worst offender, but Moritte of the Frost, Vadrok, Apex of Thunder, Koma, Cosmos Serpent, Graveyard Trespasser  Flip, Orvar, the All-Form, any double-sided creature... these things aren't even fun to read.

Hey, Croaking Counterpart is a good way to get Frogs because it can copy an opponent's creature including a Commander. Any card recursion is a specialty in green: Eternal Witness, Regrowth, Bala Ged Recovery  Flip, etc. This kind of recursion with Counterpart seems like a good way to get Frogs who can give you some value.

Changelings are Frogs. Bloodline Pretender looks like a Frog, cares about +1/+1 counters and grows whenever Keimi is created. Changeling Outcast is a one drop Frog who's unblockable. Moritte of the Frost can copy a creature you control making it a Frog + adding counters.

For the +1/+1 counters strategy consider more repeatable sources of counters: Oath of the Ancient Wood, Hadana's Climb  Flip, Forgotten Ancient? Winged Temple of Orazca can be a win condition effect with Tatsunari.

Because playing enchantresses and other effects that care about enchantments for ramp most mana rocks and land ramp would be better as land auras: Wild Growth, Utopia Sprawl, Fertile Ground, Overgrowth, Weirding Wood, Wolfwillow Haven. Some mana rock exceptions are Sol and Arcane Signet.

Good luck with your deck.

There’s also Moritte of the Frost who can copy a land.
