Jeska, Thrice Reborn

Legendary Planeswalker — Jeska

Jeska, Thrice Reborn enters the battlefield with a loyalty counter on it for each time you've cast a commander from the command zone this game.

0: Choose target creature. Until your next turn, if that creature would deal combat damage to one of your opponents, it deals triple that damage to that player instead.

-X: Jeska, Thrice Reborn deals X damage to each of up to three targets.

Jeska, Thrice Reborn can be your commander.

Partner (You can have two commanders if both have partner.)

Slayroth, I added Smuggler's Share on a whim as I saw a lot of potential in it. It can hit off of many EDH and High Powered EDH meta staples such as Sylvan Library, Rhystic Study, Fetchlands, and Esper Sentinel. However after some thinking on it I decided to swap in Smothering Tithe as it's strictly better.

I didn't have any games with Smuggler's Share yet as i've been piloting other decks primarily. What made me go ahead and cut Smuggler's Share was just playing a game where one player had Smothering Tithe on the field. Everyone paying the tax reminded me of good ol' Rhystic Study - that unique interaction between players where everyone pays the 2 because no one wants the already oppressive Tymna the Weaver + Jeska, Thrice Reborn deck to get even more gas. I'll run Smuggler's Share though, but only in my decks meant for less competitive metas.

Hi, if 0 loyalty cost Jeska, Thrice Reborn and triple damage dealt when dealing damage to an opponent with Sapling of Colfenor and then pay a red mana to activate Break Through the Line and target Sapling, do I get through as its power is 2, and then the damage is tripled?

Profet93: So, Earthcraft is banned in Conquest, so I, on a whim slotted Concordant Crossroads in... and it is so fucking stupid. I cannot begin to describe just how dumb this card is. You generally slap this down with the dorks in hand and Yeva on board... allowing you to just pop off at instant speed. If we play it out without a line in mind, and just because you can, it'll definitely blow up in your face. I found that Winota, Joiner of Forces is the only one we really want to watch out for and the new Devoted Druid + Swift Reconfiguration combo when playing Concordant Crossroads. However, this was not an update I was ready to publicize, but I inadvertently deleted the whole update (plus changelog) and had to commit to posting the draft or nothing at all. I do believe the list should be on this, so I don't mind committing. J-Lo will be revisited most likely as well.

As for Karametra's Acolyte, the list has been wanting this card for the better part of a year... and across all the experienced pilots we all can collectively agree that Selvala, Heart of the Wilds has been absolute shit for quite some time. That pay one green was quite restrictive, the cantrip was almost always beat by an early Kraum, Ludevic's Opus or Serra Ascendant, while only getting 4 mana (really 3) most of the time was a really lame baseline. Selvala could only go off with Ashaya Rangers and Kogla Hyrax combos, whereas Acolyte can go off with all of those along with Temur Symbiote and Temur Hyrax lines. It just gives waaaayyy more mana on average while having a way bigger butt that's more likely to survive Jeska, Thrice Reborn.

seshiro_of_the_orochi, when you say it wouldn't pass the vanilla test, what do you mean by that? What is the vanilla test?

My thoughts were that the way the deck is run is mostly instant / sorcery spells for effects; counterspells, cantrips, targeted burn or bounce, etc. You'd basically play hard and fast and force the boardstate to grow with 1/1, 2/2 and maybe even 3/3 sharks. Occasionally you may drop a 7mv spell for a huge 7/7. Note, Cyclonic Rift only nets you a 2/2.

The real, I would say "wincon" is in the tap ability. Imagine you have 5x Sharks in total and you activate him. Nice, 5 damage. Whatever, not too bad.

Rings of Brighthearth copies it for an additional 5 damage.

Illusionist's Bracers can copy it, so can Lithoform Engine and some others. Strionic Resonator can copy the first triggered ability; So if you cast a spell such as Cryptic Command, you'd normally get a 4/4 Shark token. With Resonator, you can make a second 4/4 Shark.

You can also stack damage via Jeska, Thrice Reborn or Furnace of Rath or others. Impact Tremors and Purphoros, God of the Forge also work wonders in this deck.

Shark Typhoon gets you even more Sharks, and these ones have Flying! :D

Want some more?! Spark Double and Sakashima of a Thousand Faces and Helm of the Host and others to bypass the legendary rule, making you get tons of Sikozen for tons of stackable Shark triggers, blowing up that activated ability!

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE

Clone Legion would net you a huge fucking 9/9 AND would DOUBLE EVERY SINGLE SHARK TOKEN IN PLAY -- AND, omg AND because the trigger is on the CAST of Clone Legion, your beefy 9/9 boi is in play when it resolves, GETTING YOU A SECOND 9/9!!!

And we haven't even BEGUN to talk about untap spells!!

Have 5x Sharks? Boom, tap for damage. Untap, BOOM GET A SHARK AND TAP FOR MOAR DAMAGE - This time 6x Sharks are seen!

Seriously this deck could go off-the-walls with interactions, and I love it so much <3

I'm probably going to build Sikozen this weekend and hope I can find a group that let's me run him :D

Jace, the Living Guildpact

Legendary Planeswalker- Jace

Mythic Rare

+1Draw two cards. Then discard two cards.

0Scry X where X is the number of Gate lands you control

-8Each Opponent gets an emblem with "Play with your hand revealed."

3

Normally I don't explain my cards but in this case I decided to make an exception. The cards are not only meant to play well but to tell a story. While the original I think accomplished the storytelling part, it failed on playability. The first loyalty ability tells of Jace investigating the maze and then wiping his own memory. The second loyalty ability tells of his sentence of completing community service to help along the completion of the maze. The third and last loyalty ability shows how Jace became and conducted himself as The Living Guildpact.

For my challenge to you, reimagine Jeska, Thrice Reborn. I hate the fact the only way you can play the card outside of Commander and its variants if you have Oath of Gideon already on the battlefield.

Give me your best combat loving cards. Stuff like: Aurelia, the Warleader or Xenagos, God of Revels or Duelist's Heritage or Jeska, Thrice Reborn.

This is the same precon I started my Veyran spellslinger deck with. You can do pretty well with just a few changes.

I recommend buying as many cheap blue cantrips as possible and ditching pretty much every card above CMC 5.

I would also try to get Harmonic Prodigy. With Prodigy on the field every Magecraft trigger on Veyran will pump her up 3. 2 triggers and Jeska, Thrice Reborn will let you one-shot an opponent.

If you can pump her up to 21+ and pull off Chandra's Ignition you can kill the whole table. It’s fun and will draw a crowd.

Mizzix's Mastery is very helpful too. Fill your graveyard with the cheap spells, overload Mizzix, cast something like Overmaster and then Chandra's Ignition… it’s a spectacular way to win
