Thank you for commenting on my deck! I appreciate it. FULL DISCLOSURE: I have not played with this Chatterfang, Squirrel General deck since the banning of Jeweled Lotus and Mana Crypt, both of which were in this build prior to being showcased on tappedout. They were replaced with Llanowar Elves and Fyndhorn Elves. Since these two zero-mana artifacts were replaced, there did not seem to be a need for Urza's Saga anymore, which was replaced by a basic Swamp. Anyway, in the rare instances when one of these artifacts was in my opening hand, a turn one Chatterfang was almost always game over, especially if that artifact was Jeweled Lotus, which allowed me to cast a one-drop in addition to casting our General. Aside from these occurrences, the deck is still lightning fast. There are so many different ways to combo-off and so many ways to find the needed pieces, it is almost a detriment to playing this build: Often times I have focused TOO MUCH on the combo pieces as opposed to engaging in some aristocratic game-play from turn to turn by whittling opponents' life totals down here and there. I admit that once a copy of Old Gnawbone becomes available, then it would easily replace Beledros Witherbloom. I originally had token doublers in this build like Parallel Lives and Doubling Season, but decided to take them out because Chatterfang is a token-doubler, should almost always be on our side of the battlefield, and I could use those cards in other decks. They ain't cheap! Tree rats 4life. Happy brewing!!

Just want to bounce some ideas around to help with some deck building dilemma i been having.
Namely trying to pick between a few commanders that share identity ( The Gitrog Monster,Slimefoot, the Stowaway, Beledros Witherbloom ) and the others will probably be in the 99 anyway, or deciding between 2x alternate commanders that'll add a 3rd color ( muldratha, the grave tide or Tayam, Luminous Enigma ) or going ballz deep and settling for Atraxa, Grand Unifier. of course adding colors adds more combo/pieces and they all overlap for synergy but adds a complexity of mana base and filtering support/staple cards more strictly.
overall I do intend for Competitive so the aim has to be consistent and fast paced for board control, but naturally budget side since i cant go out and drop $2Gs on top end cards. granted i do have a handful of combo pieces, solid staples, and "good stuffs" to work with and can probably spring for a couple new cards.

Beledros Witherbloom will create pests for you each upkeep. Culling Ritual is a great token board wipe, with the bonus of extra mana. Daemogoth Titan can make you a boatload of pests when paired with Tend the Pests. The Meathook Massacre can also provide you with an alternate wincon.

Nice deck. To make room for Pyre of Heroes and Dragon Hatchling, you might consider dropping Death by Dragons and Beledros Witherbloom.
Good luck!

I would suggest use Bootleggers' Stash with Beledros Witherbloom to make some good interactions. Even Atsushi, the Blazing Sky maybe switch with Moonveil Regent, because 3CMC with flying, trample, 4/4 it's a fair creature, and create 3 treasures can be used with the reanimation part of deck. Goldspan Dragon can power up even more this strategies, and we have access to Old Gnawbone. It's just a idea to improve more treasures and reanimators sides of the deck.

I'm far from an EDH expert, so get your grain of salt ready, but I don't think it's anywhere near bannable. Sure, it's a big pile of removal on a big creature, and it's in good control colors, but it's also MV 7 and has no self-protection (ward, hexproof, regenerate, etc.). It can basically make one person's life miserable for a while, or everybody kind of miserable, but that's it. Xander is a big scary finisher, in the style of Zacama, Primal Calamity or Beledros Witherbloom.
I don't think it's WotC's style to stealth-hype or astroturf a specific card. If there was a mistranslation, that wouldn't help, but I think it's knee-jeek reaction.

okay....if I were to continue and feed Prossh, Skyraider of Kher and the tokens to Food Chain I MIGHT have enough mana to either cast Tiamat or whatever dragon in my hand like Beledros Witherbloom or Morophon, the Boundless or Ramos, Dragon Engine. So ramp leading to more ramp leading to tutoring leading to searching for ways to MAYBE close the game...
It's funny considering I was considering trading away Food Chain before Tiamat came out.
