Beledros Witherbloom Discussion

What about using Plumb the Forbidden .

Alhammarret's Archive would be another great addition and Trudge Garden works so well with these little lifegain-effects.

The Elder Dragon Beledros Witherbloom would be a blast in this one

triickii Appreciate the feedback. I'm slowly starting to put together something; I'll post back with the link when ready.

What are your thoughts on some of the newer dragons: Beledros Witherbloom and Shadrix Silverquill ? Similarly, thoughts on the coming-soon Scion of Draco and Tiamat ?

Thanks again!

Just removed Golgari Charm for Beledros Witherbloom

I do like Carnifex Demon in Hapatra and I use to run it but this deck only needs two 1/1 creatures to combo off and i believe there's cheaper way to do so but it's in my sideboard card for sure! Maybe with Beledros in, it can be a power engine, would need to test it! Thanks for the comment!

slowsti It seemed like a great idea for them to test the waters with life gain/drain with Golgari and I was pretty excited when I saw it. The more I looked at it, it seemed clunky if you weren't drawing into enough drain cards or you draw too many drain with no life gain. Sorry your deck build didn't pan out. You could change you commander to Beledros Witherbloom , I played a deck with him and it was a blast. The pests give you a pretty consistent life gain and work well with a sac sub theme.

That's a good point with Exquisite Bond, I'll have to keep it in mind if I like the deck enough to make that an addition as it is an expensive card.

Long time, no updates, so here's a few cards I've been looking over recently:

Overabundance : The main reason I'm up on this card is its interaction with Glacial Chasm , which is kind of like a Heartbeat of Spring except it hurts your opponents. This will draw a lot of hate though

Beledros Witherbloom : Drop him, untap a bunch of lands, gives you a great opportunity to throw down a Torment of Hailfire . Also incidentally makes token blockers.

Crackle with Power : What I think might be a third reliable win condition, it targets, so it does not get around hexproof like Torment of Hailfire and Exsanguinate but it can potentially hit each opponent down quite a few pegs very easily.

Harness Infinity : Pick up graveyard, what's not to like?

Tibalt's Trickery : The reason I keep coming back to this card is as a way to defend against things which could counter of kill vital pieces. I've never been a fan of going all in on just winning without interaction. It makes games so much more involving. I don't think this card works offensively unless you know there's nothing worse they can really spin into. It's not like a Chaos Warp where they might get nothing, they will ALWAYS get something.

The real question is what gets cut to make way and at this stage I honestly cannot say. The one card I do think will make it in definitely is Tibalt's Trickery . As for Beledros Witherbloom , he doesn't guarantee a win, just one or two turns of big mana. He's an enabler, but at the wrong end of the process, and there need to be a whole bunch of other things in play to make him relevant in this archetype. Harness Infinity seems powerful, it's a unique effect, but seven mana and intensive in colours means you won't have much mana left afterwards to really use it. Absolutely, go nuts with Ayula's Influence , but this just makes bear tokens, which require another turn in order to bring them to...bear.

Again, any thoughts/comments/suggestions are always welcome.

For my build Beledros Witherbloom will be amazing (but I do polymorph into 7 cmc things with stuff like Divergent Transformations - not everyone is running a side-polymorph gig like me. Witch's Clinic will actually be a windmill-slap in land for me (& it sounds like you have one) - because, again, lifelink on thantis when she gets bigger per attacking creature is pretty great. IMO Shiny Impetus is ramp that forces aggression which I think is great... If anything I usually get 1 mana any color from it (usually more though) & also force a surprising amount of dmg - I find it to be more thematic in the deck than Cultivate . Clackbridge Troll is a large threat where either people tap him down & I'm happy with 3 life & a card, or someone is taking a good ding, which also makes me happy. Massacre Wurm has done work for me. Journey to Eternity  Flip usually gets forgotten & recursion on a land has won me games. Calculating Lich is a pet card that I like. Rampage of the Clans is one of my favorite instant sweepers that converts the board into vanilla attackers (sounds bad) but there are plenty of times where I hit a point that I just want the field to have creatures... Also has won me the game with Purphuros, God of the Forge

Beledros Witherbloom 's upkeep trigger is really nice, too.

That said, there's a huge difference between those two untap abilities, and they are meant to be used in different ways.
