Turntimber Symbiosis

Sorcery

Look at the top seven cards of your library. You may put a creature card from among them onto the battlefield. If that card has mana value 3 or less, it enters with three additional +1/+1 counters on it. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.

Turntimber Symbiosis Discussion

Came across Agadeem's Awakening  Flip which would almost work as a clunky recursion combo assembler if flooded, so I definitely think that is worth considering. Field of Ruin like I mentioned earlier, is solid land hate that replaces itself with a colored manasource. Kazandu Mammoth  Flip / Blackbloom Rogue  Flip / Tangled Florahedron  Flip would be a 'land' that could be found with Collected Company, just be careful of how many tapped lands are included if you decide to include any of those.

Mistveil Plains could help with the mill matchup, and it works to give you a Chord of Calling target if needed, plus it is findable with fetches. Oran-Rief, the Vastwood lets you get a lot out of Kitchen Finks, so it may be worth an inclusion. It would also help if you transition to an aggro strategy during the match.

I've personally always liked Reflecting Pool as a singleton psuedo-mana fixer and one or two of the filter lands (Wooded Bastion / Fetid Heath / Twilight Mire) in 3+ colored decks to alleviate the burden of all the life loss cards (shocks + fetches).

Castle Garenbrig would work as some slow ramp, probably not worth it, but figured I would mention it. Turntimber Grove / Llanowar Reborn would help to get more out of Devoted Druid and the like, although it probably isn't worth coming in tapped (the Grove would sort of be a combat trick when found with Elvish Reclaimer as well). Turntimber Symbiosis  Flip / Emeria's Call  Flip would be some other clunky options, that I just don't think are worth it.

Hey SirHerpaderp,

thanks for the compliment, luckily I had a great deal I found from the pre-covid spike and got the Survival of the Fittest at a steal. and I've been working on this since the commander was released so when I first purchased these goods when at their cheapest.

So technically I have 36 lands in this deck. 4 of them are mdfc lands:

These are amazing extra spells on their face side and can be cheated into play off certain abilities this specifically say "play a land" (ex.The Gitrog Monster&Oracle of Mul Daya) and not put a land. (ex.Explore&Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath

Another great upside to them is that you can use bounce lands such as Golgari Rot Farm&Guildless Commons to pick these lands back up.

The Final the key to this deck's Mana is Life from the Loam which is a repeatable mill target that fills your hands with lands to dump into Nostalgic Dreams.

Only down side to the mdfc is you cannot play them off loam. However, that's why Timeless Witness and Nostalgic Dreams are in the deck.

My advice for new pickups out of the new Kamigawa set so far are the black channel land and that sick new dragon. Not much else has spoiled yet so idk what else lol

I think you should cut: Brutalizer Exarch, Conduit of Ruin, Frost Titan, Giant Adephage, Myr Battlesphere, Oblivion Sower, Pelakka Wurm, Phyrexian Ingester, Rashmi, Eternities Crafter, Rattleclaw Mystic, Sagu Mauler, Simic Sky Swallower, Sphinx Ambassador, Stalking Vengeance, Tornado Elemental, Plasm Capture, Pandemonium, Sunken Hope, Tezzeret the Seeker, Chromatic Lantern, Darksteel Ingot, Disaster Radius, Explosive Vegetation, Heat Shimmer, Rude Awakening, and Spelltwine. As for lands, I do think you should replace: Izzet Boilerworks, Spawning Bed, and Temple of the False God.

I think you should add: Temur Sabertooth, Genesis Ultimatum, Etali, Primal Storm, Skyshroud Claim, Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma, Sakura-Tribe Elder, Chaos Warp, Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient, Terror of the Peaks, Kodama of the East Tree, Reclamation Sage, Kogla, the Titan Ape, Consecrated Sphinx, Selvala, Heart of the Wilds, Wood Elves, Ilharg, the Raze-Boar, Diluvian Primordial, Prime Speaker Zegana, Release to the Wind, Return of the Wildspeaker, Nature's Lore, Three Visits, Garruk's Uprising, Guardian Project, Unnatural Growth, and Arcane Signet.

I do think one option that you have is replacing all signets with mana dorks like Birds of Paradise, Llanowar Elves, and Elvish Mystic

If you are able to find more slots, I think you should consider: Hullbreaker Horror, Thryx, the Sudden Storm (dependent on count of spells with 5 cmc or more), Soothsaying, Mulldrifter, Beast Whisperer (dependent on final count of creatures), Rishkar's Expertise, Turntimber Symbiosis  Flip, See the Unwritten, Balefire Dragon, Scourge of the Throne, Bane of Progress (I feel like you do not have a ton of high value artifacts or enchantments that would cause this to cripple you), Momir Vig, Simic Visionary, and Genesis Storm.

Yldris always seemed like such a fun commander to me, probably because Maelstrom Wanderer was one of my first commanders. Biggest thing I see write of the back is your man base. Your deck is really blue with barely any black. might I suggest cutting back on a swamp or 2. Along with the mana base I highly suggest adding some MDFC's as most of the are fantastic. I would avoid Agadeem and Shatterskull because X spells (you might wanna cut Villainous Wealthbecause of that too), but Turntimber Symbiosis  Flip, and Sea Gate Restoration  Flip are both big spells to play after connecting with Yldris. Bala Ged Recovery  Flip, Glasspool Mimic  Flip, and even Song-Mad Treachery  Flip kinda goes with your theft theme. With the MDFC's I've been able to cut my decks down to 34-35 lands with barely any noticeable performance issues. I have even gone down to 32-33 in lower curve decks. Also I would cut decimate. It is too often a dead card when there isn't one of everything on the field and worse off might have to target your own things in dire situations just to remove key piece from someone else's board. I hope My advice helped you out! Have fun and may the Gods of Chaos be ever in your favor.

It’s pretty confusing, but it is a “Doomsday” combo that can be set up in Turn 3 and start/kill Turn 4.

Turn 3: Cast Recross the Paths, as the card resolves you reveal your entire library to show there are no lands. Since the card says “…put the rest of the cards on the bottom of your library in any order…”, you get to order the deck to:

After stacking your deck, you clash with your opponents and reveal Turntimber Symbiosis  Flip, put it on the bottom of your library, and put Recross the Paths back into your hand.

Turn 4:

In your draw step, draw and reveal Reforge the Soul to trigger miracle and cast it. Draw:

Now we should have one untapped land, follow the steps below:

  1. Play Shatterskull, the Hammer Pass  Flip untapped
  2. Cast Pact of the Titan
  3. Cast Infernal Plunge, sacrificing the 4/4 Giant; 3 Red floating, 1 lands Untapped
  4. Cast Pyromancer Ascension; 2 Red Floating
  5. Cast Manamorphose, add 1 Red and 1 Green, draw the third Manamorphose; 1 Red 1 Green floating
  6. Cast second Manamorphose, trigger Pyromancer Ascension, put 1 counter on it, add 1 Red 1 Green, draw the fourth Manamorphose; 1 Red 1 Green floating
  7. Cast third Manamorphose, trigger Pyromancer Ascension, put the second counter on it, add 1 Red 1 Green, draw Bala Ged Recovery  Flip; 1 Red 1 Green floating
  8. Cast fourth Manamorphose, trigger Pyromancer Ascension, resolve Pyromancer Ascension and put a copy on the stack

    2 Red 2 Green floating

  9. Cast Desperate Ritual, trigger Pyromancer Ascension, resolve Pyromancer Ascension and put a copy on the stack, resolve both 6 Red 2 Green floating

  10. Cast Bala Ged Recovery  Flip targeting Manamorphose, trigger Pyromancer Ascension, resolve Pyromancer Ascension and put a copy on the stack. The copy will target Desperate Ritual, resolve both spells 4 Red 1 Green Floating

  11. Cast Manamorphose, trigger Pyromancer Ascension, resolve Pyromancer Ascension and put a copy on the stack

    • The first will add 2 Red and draw the second Bala Ged Recovery  Flip
    • The second will add 2 Green and draw anything 4 Red 3 Green Floating
  12. Cast Desperate Ritual with Splice Onto Arcane with the second Desperate Ritual, trigger Pyromancer Ascension, resolve Pyromancer Ascension and add a copy. Resolve both add 12 Red 12 Red 3 Green Floating

  13. Cast second Bala Ged Recovery  Flip targeting Desperate Ritual, trigger Pyromancer Ascension, resolve Pyromancer Ascension, make a copy targeting a Bala Ged Recovery  Flip, resolve both 9 Red 2 Green Floating

  14. Repeat step 12 to add 12 Red mana 19 Red 2 Green Floating

  15. Cast Bala Ged Recovery  Flip to return Manamorphose and Bala Ged Recovery  Flip

    17 Red 1 Green Floating

  16. Cast Manamorphose, add 4 green draw 2;

    15 Red 5 Green Floating

  17. Repeat step 13, return Desperate Ritual and a Bala Ged Recovery  Flip

At this point, steps 12-17 will loop and lead to an arbitrarily large amount of mana and card draw. With that you can do a bunch of wonky things including:

For the record, I don’t play belcher, but I learned the combo after getting belched so many times haha
