Thoughts: was really lacking in card draw for a large portion of the game; clearly Aminatou's +1 isn't enough. Ended up having to use my Wishclaw Talisman to tutor for Cloudblazer and later Mulldrifter.

Theme: flicker tribal!

Ideal power level: 7~9. Currently would like to be at the fabled 7.5, as I'm not willing to compromise the theme for a higher power level (I'm not interested in heavy control/turns Aminatou). Would like to be able to hit 8.5~9 with an optimised list someday (although I won't be getting the tutors/mana rocks required for a while, or ever), but at that point I'm more likely to swap to Brago (or even Derevi) for a flicker strat.

Goal/wincon: some combination of Altar of the Brood/Vela the Night-Clad/Corpse Knight + Felidar Guardian + any other instant flicker effect (i.e. Aminatou, Wispweaver Angel. might be possible to do something like Strionic Resonator + Felidar Guardian + cycling Ghostly Flicker and Ephemerate with Archaeomancer with Altar out).

Strategy: leveraging flicker effects and impactful etb/ltb effects for value. Eventually assembling an infinite combo to mill/drain everyone out.

Jhoira (DOM) artefacts - Elsha Top - Mardu vampire tribal/lifegain.

Other decks played: Ghired populate - Tuvasa enchantments - Estrid enchantments.

Other decks I know people have: C19 Rakdos precon - Kaalia of the Vast (angel tribal) / Sharuum the Hegemon (artefacts) / Sliver tribal / C18 Jund & Esper precons / C17 Grixis & Ur-Dragon precons.

  • need more card draw.
  • need either more boardwipes or ways to deal with creature-heavy strategies (tbf my first game with the most recent iteration was a bit janky as a Sorin, Solemn Visitor emblem got resolved very early on)
  • mana is pretty bad; a lot of my cards are very expensive (kept having to put Ashen Rider on top of my library with Aminatou's +1 as I needed to hold mana open for interaction and thus could never resolve it; I did manage to resolve Spine of Ish Sah however and flicker it, so that was cool); this might be solved now that I've added lots every viable manifest card to the deck so I can cheat high cmc permanents into play.
  • better threat assessment (but that's on me, not the deck)

as of the most recent game with this list, the flicker strategy works /very/ well, and hitting Mulldrifter, Wishclaw Talisman, some sort of recursion (Mortuary Mire, Archaeomancer, Scholar of the Ages) and any instant flicker effect (i.e. Ghostly Flicker, Eerie Interlude, Flickerwisp, etc) ensures that I can keep digging really deep with Mulldrifter & recur any lost creatures/spells with Archaeomancer/Scholar. In my most recent game, as a response to a Sorin, Solemn Visitor emblem, I kept using Eerie Interlude to flicker Archaeomancer (+ any other creatures I managed to resolve) on upkeep, getting Eerie Interlude back from the yard on my end step. Once I managed to hit and resolve Flickerwisp, Soulherder and Wishclaw Talisman, I had more or less unlimited flickers, card draw, tutoring and recursion. If I'd managed to hit and/or thought to tutor for Strionic Resonator I could probably have comboed into a win with Corpse Knight on the field. In the end I lost to getting overrun by angel tokens, which is partly bc of a lack of boardwipes, and partly bc of poor threat assessment.
