Creature (1)

I love the art on Progenitus, and I always wanted to have protection from everything. Building a multicolour deck offers the opportunity to play multicolour creatures from obscure colour combos I wouldn't bother building a deck for.

The Prismatic Bridge makes an interesting Commander. Not too much of a target, and as an enchantment, harder to hit. Rather than inexorably assembling a "good stuff" win condition, it pops out random creatures every turn. My challenge was to pick creatures that would synergise whoever drops.

I leant on "upkeep" cards, like Damia, Obeka and Sphinx of the Second Sun, and I went with Dragons as a theme, supported by Angels like Avacyn and Shalai, and found a lovely little gang of five based around haste, double strike, creature theft, artifact theft, and the delicious thump of the Ur-Dragon hitting the board.

Not sure I would call this the best 5 colour deck, but it is might be the most fun 5 colour mtg deck.

I was surprised how easy the colour and ramp comes together. I didn't want to water down the Prismatic Bridge's creature drops with the usual green mana dork suspects, so I used a raft of mana rocks and land search sorceries. Bloom Tender is a ridiculous ramp opener, Vorinclex is a mana finisher.

It is very quiet building capacity until turn 5, then suddenly takes opponents out in turn 6, with a hasty dragon storm of beating wings, rending talons, stolen stuff, and double and quadruple strike from Atarka, Najeela, and Gisela "Blade of Goodnight".
