The Boros spellslinging commander we've all been waiting for. This build leans much more heavily on Firesong's ability to give lifelink to red spells than on the white-life-gain-for-bolts ability, though there are a few spells that trigger it. A single big X spell can mean massive lifegains, so this control deck can facetank a lot of damage or pay a lot of upkeeps for Glacial Chasm. This life gain can then fuel into Aetherflux Reservoir or Treasonous Ogre.

Typically the deck ramps out rocks and digs for card draw in the early game trying to find one of the value engines:Sunforger and Crucible of Worlds. Using Weathered Wayfarer or Expedition Map, you seek up Inventors' Fair to find Crucible, and then chain these to find other utility lands, like Buried Ruin. Sunforger is the best card Boros control has, allowing you to answer just about any threat for just {R}{W}.

Smothering Tithe is especially exciting with Wheel of Fortune effects, you fire one off and you're looking at upwards of 21 treasures! and a full hand.

22 Jan 2019 - 4P vs Gisela Angel Tribal vs Ramos 5c good stuff vs Child of Alara lands - Turn 1 Land Tax, turn 2 Stoneforge for SoFI, but quickly wish I had gone for Sunforger as decks start getting gnarly when Angel player accelerates greatly but I soon luckily draw a Settle the Wreckage. Eventually land Firesong and Sunspeaker, catch angel player's Avacyn with Settle (this card is so good) and equip sword to FS&SS. Following turn I cast a Star of Extinction to wipe board and net me 100 life, FS&SS attack for more damage. They are killed later but am able to stay in game with crucible of worlds value and eventually Gisela drops, then Molten Disaster (doubled, thanks Gis) and the game is mine. I end at 94 life.

OUT: Doubling Cube, Khorvath's Fury, Steelshaper's Gift, Shielded by Faith, Survival Cache, Flagstones of Trokair IN: Dreamstone Hedron, Earthquake, Stoneforge Mystic, Runehorn Hellkite, Apex of Power, Detection Tower_ The changes made reflect a desire for more reliability along the lines of play this deck likes best: Sunforging and Big Turns. Doubling cube only starts to be better than Dreamstone once you pass 10 mana, and that's assuming the deck wants to tap out on it's turn (it doesn't always) plus Dreamstone plays well with Scrap Mastery, which has proven itself invaluable at recovering from artifact wipes and allowing Big Turns. SFM is just better than Steelshaper's Gift because she can carry the Sunforger. The deck wanted more draw 7s, plus Hellkite can play decent defense and you don't mind pitching it to another wheel. The deck also wanted more X spells, so OG Earthquake makes it in.
