Creature — Phyrexian Spider

Reach, Infect

As someone who loves infect, I have to say your list has waaaaaaaaaay too many creatures and lands. Even slower versions like mine, a Monoblack one, run around 12 creatures + 4 Inkmoth Nexus. Infect is a strong mechanic. So, in order to make it balanced, WOTC made the creatures really bad, which is why it's usually a bad idea to run this many of them. And 28 lands is asking to get mana flooded

Nevertheless, I'll give my suggestions without trying to chance to core ideia of the deck. If playing this was is how you have fun and it works for you and your friends, then I just want to help you make it better without modifying its core.

If you want me to give you suggestions more aligned with how Infect is normally played, tell me and I'll be happy to help. I just wanted to respect your deckbuilding style as much as possible with these.

Mortlocke on New hubs to be added

Hello legendofa,

I propose a new hub to be added: Phyrexian. During Modern Horizons 2, 225 creatures were retconned into having the Phyrexian creature subtype to join Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider . Additionally, there were a smattering of Enchantments, Artifacts and etc that ether have the Phyrexian subtype or create creature tokens that do. Thanks to this retcon I now have a deck that has a Phyrexian tribal theme. For your reference, below is a full list of spells that were affected by WotC's Phyrexian errata.

As a lower curve, I would take out Blightwidow as you are not intending to win with poison counters and creatures with infect can only do damage in the form of poison counters. You could add in Sporeweb Weaver. I might also consider cutting Juvenile Gloomwidow and add Snarespinner as it is much more likely to outright kill flyer than to just die and give it a -1/-1 counter. I would also cut Kessig Recluse as you are trying to win mostly by using Assault Formation (I assume) and you already have Deadly Recluse and Basilisk Collar for the deathtouch protection. In its place Chainweb Aracnir and you will have a much more aggressive curve to swarm your opponent with and cast Arachnogenesis. You will probably need to add some card draw as well so that you don't run out of fuel. Harmonize or Lead the Stampede in place of Accorder's Shield will make it better. The reason I chose Accorder's Shield is because to bring it out and equip it the same turn will cost and so will bringing out and equipping Slagwurm Armor, but Slagwurm Armor gives more of a buff. The minor upside to Accorder's Shield is that you can drop all of your mana on a spider and then cast Accorder's Shield same turn.

Good start. I think Spiders can be pretty scary when they get set up. The real advantage of this tribe is the defense they offer, making it very hard to attack you.

You are really low on lands. I think 36 would be a minimum, but 37-38 might be ideal considering how slow spiders are. I would recommend Oran-Rief, the Vastwood to make your spiders bigger. Bojuka Bog could also easily make an appearance here. A few more dual and tri-lands to smooth out your mana wouldn't hurt, either.

Since you're in Green I think you should take advantage of the great ramp. Sakura-Tribe Elder, Cultivate, Kodama's Reach, Sol Ring, etc. would help you a ton.

You're missing a few spiders I would consider important, notably Silklash Spider, Spider Spawning, Arachnogenesis, Hatchery Spider, Nyx Weaver, Jungle Weaver (cycling and a fatty is nice) and Blightwidow. There are also the anti-flying spiders Oran-Rief Recluse and Stingerfling Spider that will often have good targets. In a format where Lightning Greaves is a staple, I like having access to Acid Web Spider.

In terms of synergy with Thantis, Obscuring Haze seems great, Crawlspace seems good at directing combat elsewhere, and Sight of the Scalelords gives your team vigilance and they also get pretty beefy.

In terms of cuts, I would start with the large amount of tricks you are playing. They are okay 1v1, but start to look a lot worse in multiplayer. Some number of Dark Dabbling, Undying Evil, Without Weakness, Kaya's Ghostform, and Minion's Return would be fine.

You also have a series of instants and sorceries that don't offer enough value in my opinion, such as Crash Through and Pyretic Ritual. Explore won't work too well with only 32 lands, either.

I would also think about cutting Viper's Kiss and Atarka's Command.

I don't know if you mistook her for a spider, but Xira Arien is an insect. You could be playing much better card draw instead of her.

Hope this helps!

Some good infect cards: Contagion Clasp, Contagion Engine, Grafted Exoskeleton, Phyrexian Juggernaut, Blightwidow, Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon (if you're not on a budget), Inkmoth Nexus, Corpse Cur, Core Prowler, Virulent Wound, and Crumbling Ashes.

If you'd like a common green wincon, that'd be Triumph of the Hordes. A more budget-friendly option is Predatory Focus.

I hope you have fun having no friends! ;]

Grafted Exoskeleton would work really well here. Karn's Bastion is pretty much a staple for any infect deck (Take that last part with a grain of salt). A good ol' Blightwidow or Cystbearer might be a nice addition. If you're willing to spend the money, a Blightsteel Colossus would be really nice. Tel-Jilad Fallen would work if you're playing against artifact decks. As for wincons, Triumph of the Hordes is a classic, but on a budget, Predatory Focus does the trick, too.

This deck looks pretty cool. I haven't seen many infect EDH decks so far, but this one looks decent. Good luck with it.

I love the idea behind this deck! When I think of GW big butt decks, infect never even crosses my mind. +1 for originality!

You might also want Blightwidow and Grafted Exoskeleton and Shriek Raptor .
