Chainweb Aracnir Discussion

This is truly a mishmash, but out of all your creatures the ones that jump out at me are the disproportionately high number of spiders. Spider tribal could be an interesting direction to move the deck in, although switching to Golgari or at least Jund would probably be necessary. Black gives you access to graveyard interaction that benefits cards like Hatchery Spider while also having a fair number of good spider cards. Some modern options for such a deck are Arasta of the Endless Web , Graverobber Spider , Ishkanah, Grafwidow , Nyx Weaver , Rotwidow Pack , Chainweb Aracnir , Twin-Silk Spider , Spider Spawning , Blex, Vexing Pest Flip, Renowned Weaver , Metallic Mimic , Adaptive Automaton , Obelisk of Urd , and Coat of Arms .
If you are more interested in staying red, one option is to focus on your combat tricks with cards that like being targeted. Silverfur Partisan and Zada, Hedron Grinder are a great pair for such a deck. Cheap buffs with bonus effects like Confront the Unknown and Expedite work well in such a shell, as do cards that care about having many creatures like Might of the Masses .

You get 2 bats. The Chainweb Aracnir leaves the graveyard when it is put on the stack as the first step of casting it. The other four leave the graveyard when costs are paid later in the casting process. This is two different game events.

I control a Desecrated Tomb .
I have five creature cards in my graveyard, including Chainweb Aracnir . I cast the Chainweb for its escape cost by exiling the other four creature cards.
Do I get 1 or 2 bats?

As a lower curve, I would take out Blightwidow as you are not intending to win with poison counters and creatures with infect can only do damage in the form of poison counters. You could add in Sporeweb Weaver. I might also consider cutting Juvenile Gloomwidow and add Snarespinner as it is much more likely to outright kill flyer than to just die and give it a -1/-1 counter. I would also cut Kessig Recluse as you are trying to win mostly by using Assault Formation (I assume) and you already have Deadly Recluse and Basilisk Collar for the deathtouch protection. In its place Chainweb Aracnir and you will have a much more aggressive curve to swarm your opponent with and cast Arachnogenesis. You will probably need to add some card draw as well so that you don't run out of fuel. Harmonize or Lead the Stampede in place of Accorder's Shield will make it better. The reason I chose Accorder's Shield is because to bring it out and equip it the same turn will cost and so will bringing out and equipping Slagwurm Armor, but Slagwurm Armor gives more of a buff. The minor upside to Accorder's Shield is that you can drop all of your mana on a spider and then cast Accorder's Shield same turn.

I was looking for a deck that had Pod in it, looked at the points spread I would want and found this gem with the exact points spread that I wanted.
I have made some changes, visible in RecSurPod, chiefly removing the one-mana discards, adding an important new addition in Fiend Artisan which is yet another pod effect and another very good creature in Soulherder.
I am throughly confused by the inclusion of Chainweb Aracnir. What role does it serve? a more useful creature like Scavenging Ooze or additional searcher like Recruiter of the Guard would be more useful. Current changes I have made:
- Removed Paradise Druid (a bit too much ramp), Brazen Borrower (does not work well with pod effects), Nimble Obstructionist (does not work well with pod effects), Duress, Thoughtseize, Inquisition of Kozilek (the discard suite feels very hit-or-miss)
- Added Fiend Artisan (yet-another-pod-effect), Elder Gargaroth (this is basically a titan at 5 mana), Tortured Existence (both pet card, but also works with the main plan of recursion), Liliana, Death's Majesty (fits the recursion theme very well), Phyrexian Metamorph (I wanted access to an extra clone effect) and Soulherder (one of the best three drops for this deck).
