Plaguemaw Beast Discussion

Evolution Sage , Karn's Bastion , and Contagion Clasp are all budget-friendly ways to help you deck proliferate, if you have enough of that going on to boost it. Plaguemaw Beast is fun, too.

Enjoy Slimefoot! He's a blast to play!

I like the way this is shaping up (pardon the pun). Blatant Thievery might be better than Fallen Shinobi .

As far as abusing the proliferate theme, I think you should add in Evolution Sage and possibly Plaguemaw Beast , especially if you have sac fodder to use.

Ok. So depending entirely on YOUR meta, I'm not a fan of a bunch of the lands. You have 4-5 of the 'pay 2life or it ETBs tapped'. That's 8-10 life. Sure you got lifelink on a bunch of guys, but cmdr isn't guaranteed. I'd consider swapping those out, unless it was purely because you have those already. Atraxa has 4/5 mtg colors, I'd run the Exotic Orchard as stats say your opp will likely be running 2-4 colors, meaning you'll have 1-3 colors in common min.
Your utility lands like the Bastion and Gavony are great choices for this. On the same related note check if you have a Coat of Arms , tribal almost demands you run this card and it can get OP real quick. I ran a Sigarda/human tribal and it wasn't uncommon to have 30 tokens with 30/30ea. They'll still die laughably to a disk or other similar wipe, but meh: 30x 30/30s.

Well...That is all I got at the moment. You're really going heavy tokens so that's fine, just be sure to stay focused and not trying too many different things. :)

Oh, yeah. Let's say there are 4 creatures on the board with -1/-1 counters on them. You tap the 'Beast, sac a snake, and proliferate on all 4 of those creatures. That gives you 4 more snakes. Four for the price of one is not too shabby, and that's being pretty conservative in this deck, I think. He basically says, "tap, sac a snake, proliferate, and make more snakes."

Now, let's just pretend we equipped Plaguemaw Beast with Thornbite Staff ....

I think you'd be pleasantly surprised at how much work Plaguemaw Beast can do...

I'd only throw in tutors if there are cards absolutely critical to winning. Otherwise, just let the deck play.

Karn's Bastion and Plaguemaw Beast are two I can see you should probably get. And Evolution Sage .

Will get back to you soon with more...

I think Plaguemaw Beast would be a solid inclusion.

Perfect_Phyrexia: 1) Love the username, haha, of COURSE you'd be the one to suggest Yawgmoth ;) and 2) Yeah, he's in here, and absolutely AWESOME in testing. Just be aware that you're limited by the number of creatures your opponents possess unless you also have Nest of Scarabs (in addition to Hapatra). I need modify the primer to include the synergies with him!

BlueAutomatic: Mixed results TBH. He gets better as the deck plays in more competitive pods, since you can steal early mana dorks, and he's helpful if you can get a wide placement of counters before a board wipe... But I'm considering cutting him, yeah. He's amazing in my proper Yawgmoth deck though! Lol.

OptimalGreen: I've been considering it actually! Obviously not as good as Yawgmoth, and does take 5 mana before it does anything... but not bad either. If we wanted repeatable proliferate at that CMC, though, Plaguemaw Beast exists.
