Sideboard

Maybeboard

Life is like a box of chocolates, and this deck is like a box of big boyz. You never know what you are going to get.

Another boring Atla Palani, Nest Tender EDH deck but this time without filling the deck with exactly the same creatures because I like me some oldschool beasts. Targeting a power 7 deck without going crazy on lands and tutors.

What I like the most: To play it you can be stupid like Forrest Gump What I don't like: If you don't get a good opening hand with a mana ramp/fix to cast the commander in turn 3 and a sac outlet you are royally screwed. Any suggestion to improve upon that?

Instead of going full ramp and dinosaur tribal, I tried to theme it around producing and sacrificing consistently my eggs (tokens or changelings) to drop some tractors and do some secondary shenanigans like gaining stupid amounts of life. These decks usually have an infinite combo to produce infinite tokens, but I hate these types of combo so I went for Ashnod's Altar + Thornbite Staff, which allows to pull all the creatures from the deck into play. I only selected a tutor for the combo which is Ring of Three Wishes. (Ashnod's Altar + Atla Palani, Nest Tender + Thornbite Staff )

For protection against boardwipe I carry: Heroic Intervention, Rootborn Defenses, Shields of Velis Vel and Mirror Entity. In case you pull the combo of get in a long game and get wiped, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth allows you to continue rolling with the deck, a part from being an absolute unit. I would prefer to run Emrakul and I do in some boards because I can never cast it, but it's banned and Ulamog has indestructible so Kozilek it is.

Greater Gargadon is the real MVP of the deck. If you get it in the mulligan you have very good odds of getting a huge creature on turn 4.

Suggestions are always appreciated

The Sideboard has cards I have and I'm considering for the deck, and the Maybeboard is filled with cards that I considered including, feel free to suggest moving cards from there too.

Looks a little bit light on sac outlets:

Pyrohemia would be great as a "sac outlet" to sweep your board clear of eggs, and also do some bonus control against your opponents. It also happens to synergize really well with the Enrage mechanic (which you aren't running a lot of, but it's a bonus still).

Idol of Oblivion was made for Atla Palani, excellent draw card here.

Having played Trostani Populate as an edh deck before, in my opinion Growing Ranks is just too slow to be worth it. Depending on your table, Runic Armasaur or Shapers' Sanctuary might be good cards to up your draw power some more. Wolverine Riders is also another possibility if you want more token generation in that slot (note: each upkeep), but it can't make eggs.

Hi, thefiresoflurve

True that Growing Ranks seems too slow, I removed it earlier but forgot to save the edit XD

I'm not 100% on board with Runic Armasaur because I have mostly only creatures I would be "happy" to pull almost anytime. But Wolverine Riders seems certainly interesting, because while it doesn't make eggs, I have some mechanisms to turn everything into eggs, so it wouldn't be a bad pull. Plus, I have some cards that generate some value with creature sac. On a different note: an all the deck versions that I have tested and in around 15 games, card draw only served me if I was royally screwed with my commander, if I had egg game going on I almost never played things from hand, so not super worried about card draw for now.

Idol of Oblivion and Pyrohemia seem like fire suggestions, apart from the fact that I wanted to cut artifacts and enchantments to add more removal.

Thanks!
