Mortlocke on New hubs to be added

Hello legendofa,

I propose a new hub to be added: Phyrexian. During Modern Horizons 2, 225 creatures were retconned into having the Phyrexian creature subtype to join Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider . Additionally, there were a smattering of Enchantments, Artifacts and etc that ether have the Phyrexian subtype or create creature tokens that do. Thanks to this retcon I now have a deck that has a Phyrexian tribal theme. For your reference, below is a full list of spells that were affected by WotC's Phyrexian errata.

StopShot on Infinite Combo Help

Expensive solution: Auriok Salvagers + Lion's Eye Diamond

Cheap solution: Auriok Salvagers + Lotus Petal + Training Grounds OR Heartstone

Enduring Renewal would also work when combo'd with any of the creatures listed here. Hangarback Walker, Phyrexian Marauder, Shifting Wall, Stonecoil Serpent, Walking Ballista. You would be able to infinitely cast these creatures for 0 mana.

Strangelove on Hogaak: My Favorite (Infinite) Combo Deck

@SueMe Your reasoning is solid, thank you! It helps the theory-crafting a lot!

Rn I'm looking at all the possible ways to play Hogaak on turn 1... but it's looking like the only way through the mana-gate to play two creatures for a turn 1 Hogaak is with Lotus Petal / Dark Ritual / Chrome Mox / Mox Diamond ...or discarding Bridge from Below and playing a Phyrexian Marauder / Stonecoil Serpent / (etc) for 0. The Bridge combo seems pretty niche, but I'll definitely run Ritual (and Moxs when I'm rich).

If you need another discard outlet, there's Oona's Prowler ... if letting everyone discard isn't too much of a drawback.

Corpse Dance ... do you mean just so you can rearrange your graveyard aesthetically? (note 404.2: that is illegal xD). Delve is one of the few mechanics that actually enables Dance and lets you manipulate the top creature to resurrect whichever you like. Goes infinite with Phyrexian Altar + Symbiotic Wurm .

SynergyBuild on Chulane’s Tale of the Instant Win

So far, while very expensive, Chulane, Teller of Tales's easiest combo is Cloudstone Curio .

The lines are pretty easy. Use all of the one-drop creatures you can, think Llanowar Elves , Mother of Runes , Noble Hierarch , Birds of Paradise , etc. and you can draw your deck as long as you have 2 of them and an untapped land able to cast each of them (2 forests if you have 2 one-drop green creatures.)

Play 1 of the creatures, drawing a card, putting a land into play. Trigger Cloudstone Curio , bouncing the tapped land you used to cast the 1st 1 drop, then when the creature resolves bounce the 2nd 1-drop.

Tap the new untapped land you put into play to cast the 2nd one-drop, drawing a card, putting the land you prior bounced from the Cloudstone Curio into play, bouncing the 2nd land, then when the 2nd creature resolves, return the 1st creature to play.

This loop goes to draw your deck until you hit a 'free', non-artifact creature off of your infinite draw: Cloud of Faeries being the best IMO. It allows you to make 1 mana per 2 cards in your library as you go off, letting you get enough mana to win with Laboratory Maniac in the midst of yout 'storm turn.'

Running Shield Sphere , Endless One , Walking Ballista , Hangarback Walker , Phyrexian Marauder , Ugin's Conjurant , Memnite , Ornithopter , and Phyrexian Walker all work as powerful 0-mana Explore s. Endless One / Ugin's Conjurant work as the non-artifact one-drops for the above combo. Walking Ballista and Hangarback Walker (to a lesser extent) are backup mana dumps for all of the mana this deck can generate as well.

I recommend these highly. Running them, and going hard into the combo I discussed brings other cards higher into value as well:

Trophy Mage , a powerful creature that tutors for Trophy Mage , Trinket Mage tutors a Sol Ring , Chrome Mox , or 0 drop creature like Walking Ballista , giving at worst 2 Explore s for 3 mana or a Explore + Sol Ring . Not bad value on either. Recruiter of the Guard can find Trophy Mage , or almost any dork/value creature, and is just good value too.

Some lists run Spellseeker too, as it can find Eladamri's Call / Worldly Tutor to get any creature, Mystical Tutor to get any instant/sorcery, Enlightened Tutor often for Cloudstone Curio and other artifacts/enchantments, as well as occasionally protection/removal like Swords to Plowshares , Cyclonic Rift , Heroic Intervention , Dovin's Veto , or Nature's Claim .

Just some thoughts.

karnwithpants on Birthing Pod 2: Elf Ooze Boogalo

Skyler1776, the combo is to pod up to Protean Hulk then bring out Ezuri, Claw of Progress , Sage of Hours , Memnite , Phyrexian Walker , Phyrexian Marauder , and Shifting Wall . Have Ezuri hit first then play the other five giving Ezuri 5 counters(2 x cost creatures enter then die). Go to combat, give 5 counters to sage of hours then remove them for infinite extra turns. Do that until you get Laboratory Maniac out.

Pheardemons on Does this interaction work with …

So let's say that I sacrifice Protean Hulk, and search my library for Essence of the Wild, and multiple creatures with zero CMC and toughness such as Phyrexian Marauder, Shifting Wall, and Endless One.

Do all of the zero CMC creatures die when they enter the battlefield, or do they enter the battlefield as a copy of Essence of the Wild? I understand that they all enter the battlefield at the same time, I just don't know if they die because Essence of the Wild wasn't on the battlefield first (due to a state-based action of zero toughness), or if they enter as copies.

Sheet on Purphoros, The Token God

Just some ideas:

Panharmonicon is a ton of fun in Purphoros decks.

Shifting Shadow has been amazing for me, but I run dragons as a sub theme in my list. It's slightly less good if you mainly run non-creatures, but can potentially deliver a shocking one-of, surprise Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre (or whatever you choose to run). Indestructible means Shifting Shadow moves on to find another creature but your indestructible creature remains.

I like running a few Wheel of Fortune effects in my list to refuel my hand.

Hangarback Walker and Walking Ballista work really well. Also, the free-drop creature cards like Ornithopter, Endless One, Crimson Kobolds, Crookshank Kobolds, Kobolds of Kher Keep, Memnite, Phyrexian Marauder, Phyrexian Walker, Shield Sphere, and Shifting Wall are good options if you have room for them and want to lower your curve.
