BruhYouFarted on Overlooked But Awesome Cards For …

Recently, I have been scrounging the Gatherer for new sweet Pauper cards, which has been successful. The catch is, these might not fit into decks in the mainstream or decks built around these would be pretty janky. If anyone could make a list out of any of these, I applaud you. Anyway:

Kobold Taskmaster : Sitting at a steep 30 cents, Kobold Taskmaster gives all Kobolds a boost. In case you haven't noticed, Kobold Tron is legal. ( Crookshank Kobolds , Kobolds of Kher Keep , and Crimson Kobolds ) Kobold Taskmaster can also just provide a boost to Changelings, like Universal Automaton and Changeling Outcast , or just give your board some bones on the meat with Shields of Velis Vel . A playable deck though; that is for you, the victim of my madness, to decide.

Glyph of Doom , Glyph of Destruction , and Glyph of Life : All of these are in here because of a combo with Wall of Glare . Either block all their guys and gain a ton of life, or wipe out all their attackers. If you combine Doom and Life, you can get a one-sided board wipe if you play your cards right.

Mob Justice : This 2 mana spell can absolutely wipe someone out. With the help of creatures from Kuldotha Rebirth , The Kobolds, and others like Hordeling Outburst , Nest Invader , Sprout Swarm , Triplicate Spirits , etc. You could then finish the game with Raid Bombardment , Massive Raid , or Impact Tremors .

Hopefully you enjoyed my list! I still have some cards down my sleeve, but I would like to hear your overlooked cards for Pauper as a comment. I really want to do a part 2, so one will surly coming. Cya.

king-saproling on Birgi EDH: A Tale for the Ages

You may already know this but a copy of a spell isn't cast (unless the card specifies that it is cast, like Isochron Scepter), so Birgi won't trigger for copies. Makes things like Bonus Round a little less exciting :/ But still cool!

These might interest you: Possibility Storm (both the original spell cast and second spell cast will trigger Birgi), Knowledge Pool (similar to Possibility Storm), Cloudstone Curio, Kobolds of Kher Keep, Crimson Kobolds, Crookshank Kobolds, Anarchist, Priest of Urabrask, Dockside Extortionist, Grinning Ignus, Stolen Strategy, Rite of Flame, Electrostatic Field, Firebrand Archer, Thermo-Alchemist

MoJoMiXuP on Can mass land destruction exist …

Hey All, I recently moved and the playgroup at my new LGS is a fair bit more casual than my old one. My oldest commander deck Jhoira's Dream Scheme - III leans heavily on mass land destruction, annihilator triggers, and other such dirty tricks that can leave players with a bad taste I don't want to create. Instead of shelving the deck, I'm trying to think of a way to pivot it into a more casual form that keeps MLD as the backbone.

From a casual player's perspective, would this sounds like a fun idea:

Jhoira's Russian Roulette

The current deck runs 6 beefy creatures. What if each game I asked the table how many bullets they were comfortable playing with in a game of Russian roulette (1 through 6) and then adjust the creatures accordingly. 6 bullets would be nothing changes, while 5 through 1 would be keeping 1-5 of the silver bullet OG beasts and replacing the others with 0 cmc 0 power duds like Crimson Kobolds, Crookshank Kobolds, Kobolds of Kher Keep, Ornithopter, and Phyrexian Walker.

If I polymorph into a Blightsteel Colossus, great, but if I spin the wheel and hit an Ornithopter, too bad for me!

Anyway, just curious what people would think of sitting across from this kind of playstyle. Feel free to tell me its BS and MLD can NEVER coexist with casual, but I'm hoping to bridge the gap!

Many Thanks, - Geoff

Apologies, I couldn't help myself!

DragonSliver9001 Great question! Lightning Bolt can target creatures, walkers, and players, is cheaper mana wise than Counterspell and can be cast after they resolve, however Counterspell can deal with nearly and card, but costs more mana, can stop them before they resolve and get value, and doesn't care how much toughness/loyalty they have.

I think for EDH, Counterspell is the winner, while yes twice the mana is important, EDH has much bigger creatures, and walkers as well, making bolt not hit very much moving into the late game, however counter can hit opposing permanents and also protect your own, letting you set up for game winning plays rather than just slow down your opponents.

It's the obvious choice going in by looking at meta shares, but also makes logical sense!

The real question is Crimson Kobolds or Crookshank Kobolds? Obviously Kobolds of Kher Keep are the best, but what's the second best O.o

If you are looking for more costed spells to cast, its hard to leave out Ornithopter, Memnite, Shield Sphere, and Phyrexian Walker. And since you're in also, you have access to Kobolds: Crimson Kobolds, Kobolds of Kher Keep, and Crookshank Kobolds. I don't know if that helps or not, but it would be fun...

Sheet on Purphoros, The Token God

Just some ideas:

Panharmonicon is a ton of fun in Purphoros decks.

Shifting Shadow has been amazing for me, but I run dragons as a sub theme in my list. It's slightly less good if you mainly run non-creatures, but can potentially deliver a shocking one-of, surprise Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre (or whatever you choose to run). Indestructible means Shifting Shadow moves on to find another creature but your indestructible creature remains.

I like running a few Wheel of Fortune effects in my list to refuel my hand.

Hangarback Walker and Walking Ballista work really well. Also, the free-drop creature cards like Ornithopter, Endless One, Crimson Kobolds, Crookshank Kobolds, Kobolds of Kher Keep, Memnite, Phyrexian Marauder, Phyrexian Walker, Shield Sphere, and Shifting Wall are good options if you have room for them and want to lower your curve.
