Illuna, Apex of Wishes Discussion

To me that is definitely something you can get creative with. Focusing on zombie generation, discarding your opponents, Megrim -like effects. And it might actually be strong enough for decks like Nekusar, the Mindrazer to play him in non cEDH settings.

Also they have printed Illuna, Apex of Wishes - so I don't think it is completely off the table to have a Zombie Knight Wizard.

Ramble - Yes it can use the loyalty abilities, it is still restricted to 1 per turn. If you mutate onto Sarkhan it won't be a planeswalker (it isn't after you make it a dragon anyways). Any token copies will be copies of the whole mutate pile, but won't be lands from Ashaya's ability.

I actually have an Illuna, Apex of Wishes deck built around crazy things like this.

griffstick no, non-planeswalkers don't need to worry about that.

I completely understand style over synergy. In each of my decks, I have a single, immutable slot betaken to a selcouth or wacky card.

You may have noticed in my Illuna list that there is a single Temporal Aperture, which has been surprisingly good on occasion, despite being against most of the deck's entire strategy. (It gave me a Jin-Gitaxias once.) I also have a Moonring Mirror in Kumena, a Stillmoon Cavalier in Tymna and Sidar, a Cao Cao in Chainer, and more that needn't be mentioned.

Having Questing Beast as a pet card holds far more power than others, so follow what you enjoy.

Alright. Allow me to break this down.

Due to my inexperience with Mutate shenanigans, I shall focus more upon the ards I find generally lacking.

Now, as often as I read the terms of service, a lot of text does not necessarily mean a lot of synergy. The commander format espouses synergistic decks as opposed to ones fraught with individual card power. I thusly advocate for this card's removal.

Unless you are initiating combos with Brash Taunter, 'tis not a very good card. In a regular circumstance, it is around five damage for eight mana, which it severally lacking. The indestructibility is nice, but the majority of the format's removal is in the form of exile or bounce. I would kill it.

Some of these cards were designed for Ikoria limited, but not for outside of that format. What I would recommend excluding are Everquill Phoenix, Glowstone Recluse, Pouncing Shoreshark, and Dreamtail Heron. They are okay but below average.

Lastly, Blackblade Reforged is a strong card, but I would focus more on the value part of your plan as averse to the big creature plan. Illuna's mutate trigger accelerates your board state, thus making a single large idiot makes the plan susceptible to a single kill spell.

I have tried Soothsaying myself, yet had found the card to be far too much mana to be effective. There is not much to say. It cannot put cards to the bottom, nor can it permit much filtering with little mana spent.

Everquill Phoenix is a fine card, but I would rather have an additional engine piece as averse to a 4/4 flyer.

That shall be all from me, but I may offer additional insights as other edits are made to this list.

Farewell, and may all of fortune have you.

BaneOfLordran thanks. Yeah I gotta agree Kiora bests is a little greedy. Vivien, Monsters' Advocate and Illuna, Apex of Wishes are also kinda on the bubble. I'll throw in roiling regrowth later and see how it plays.

Obosh feels kinda like I've given everybody an Embercleave

Ah, Illuna is a commander that has become a favourite of mine, for manipulation of the top leads to quite a bit of value.

I am notably bereft of much experience with the Mutate mechanic, as my list has only had a Parcelbeast, which was thusly removed, but I may offer insights upon the top of the library.

Momir Vig, Simic Visionary is quite the terrifying engine for this deck. It is a Mutate target if it must be, and it combos with the commander directly. It tutors for a big idiot to cheat upon the field, whilst working with the rest of the deck most splendidly.

I have found Thassa's Oracle to be a fine value card, oft sieving through the top four cards of the library, only to find a cataclysmic ten-drop. Moreover, Illuna may Mutate unto it.

Dream Cache is a card I used to run, yet shall admit to ablating. It does the job quite well, but was insufficient in the wake of Brainstorm.

Whiles being rather expensive, Scroll Rack, Mirri's Guile, Sensei's Divining Top, and Sylvan Library are each some of the greatest engines in the entire deck. Bother not with questioning their inclusion. If you get ahold of one, use it.

Cavalier of Gales is an extremely efficient flyer and put a big imbecile atop the library.

Prognostic Sphinx grants a deep scry each turn and Hexproof, thence being a fantastic card upon all fronts.

One of the most condign secondary win conditions in my list is Lurking Predators. 'Tis as powerful as it reads.

Perhaps the best card in my entire deck is Future Sight, with a worsened version being Magus of the Future. These provide a heaven-high amount of card advantage. Everything cast from the top essentially draws a card, additionally providing information of when to cast Illuna.

Courser of Kruphix is just a fantastically efficient creature, attributing defensive value and information.

Long-Term Plans grant an instant-speed tutor for the most devasting card in the entire deck. Try it and love it.

Lastly, Dream Eater has become a favourite of mine, being a splendid combat trick and top-of-the-library aid, whereupon always bringing a sense of dint and defense.

That shall be all from me, sire, but I do hope that you would deign to peer upon my list, being as such:

Idoneity's Deliverance

I have become most pleased with it.

Fare thee well, and might the best of fortune betide.

Thank you for the clarification. I sort of realized that after posting.

However, the combo overall still works if you use Buried Alive on Omnath, Locus of the Roil instead of Illuna, Apex of Wishes.

(You revive Omnath and use Bloodpyre Elemental to kill him repeatedly.)

(Yes, I should have checked to make sure before posting).
