Neera, Wild Mage

Legendary Creature — Human Elf Shaman

Whenever you cast a spell, you may put it on the bottom of its owner's library. If you do, reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a nonland card. You may cast that card without paying its mana cost. Then put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order. This ability triggers only once each turn.

JelloGresh on What is the Difference Between …

Hi there I'd like to follow up the original question with Neera, Wild Mage. Since its a may (+if) ability, how is the ability going on the stack if I do not trigger it ?

Cause I've read on some youtube comment that, since it triggers only once each turn you could only use the ability on the first spell you cast. Is that correct ?

I'm aware that this deck somehow is a mess.

It tries to be a spellslinger deck like Neera, Wild Mage, Veyran, Voice of Duality or Niv-Mizzet, Parun. Then again, it does that to summon artifacts and get extra use from them, which Galazeth Prismari would probably a better commander for. And then again it also needs dice manipulation to work properly, which Wyll, Blade of Frontiers as a commander could achieve much easier.

Because of this, the deck feels really inconsistent.

Also the "winning" condition of this deck isn't clear. I planned to play much more burn and create attraction loops that mass-cast free burn spells. Also Veyran and Wyll can get pretty strong and deal damage.

I honestly don't know where to take this deck.

Pedrodamus on Tutorless Commander?

Tutors are an inherit part of the game that have been around from the very beginning. If your playgroup has an ironclad "no tutor" policy, then more power to ya. My playgroup doesn't play by those rules, but I, personally, have been limiting the tutors I include in my decks in lieu of new cards I want to test out. My tutor inclusion depends entirely on how strong I intend the deck I'm building to be.

That being said, I've limited a few of my decks to a single tutor. Like, my Rith, the Awakener runs a lot of enchantments, so I have an Enlightened Tutor in there. I run a Mystical Tutor in Neera, Wild Mage because it's just fun to search up a fun big spell to the top in response to her trigger. In contrast, I run quite a few tutor effects in my mono black Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed and mono green Omnath, Locus of Mana decks because they're meant to combo out. I think this tutor sentiment depends entirely on how a playgroup feels about it.

Braids, Conjurer Adept is Show and Tell on a stick, but as far as Izzet and Izzet-including identities, Esika, God of the Tree  Flip, Illuna, Apex of Wishes, Intet, the Dreamer, Jhoira of the Ghitu, Neera, Wild Mage, Sedris, the Traitor King, and The Ur-Dragon seem like the best options.

Can I respond to a Neera, Wild Mage trigger by casting a Mystical Tutor to put something on the top to cheat with the Neera trigger?

GrimVeracity on Neera Wild Mage Copy Deck

lego22499 this seems like a very fun and explosive Combo/Copy deck! I think the key to cracking/breaking Neera, Wild Mage is going to be focusing on lower CMC ramp and interaction without jeopardizing Neera's ability. She can be a tough cookie to crack but one idea that comes to my mind is adding some cheap early game interaction that you aren't necessarily disappointed to hit with the Neera later in the game. Another way to aid in this struggle may be to run a higher than usual land count considering you may not want to be hitting many low CMC ramp/rocks with Neera's abillity and would rather hit the lands to get closer to something BIG hiding in your deck plus it wouldn't hurt to draw some extra lands early... especially Utility lands or lands that have a Cycling ability as this could help with draw if you start to flood out. That's the best I've got for now but I'll give it some more thought as well as feature the deck and maybe you can get some HOT tips from EDH players more familiar brewing around Storm, Combo, Copy, Ect. Anyways cool deck looking forward to seeing how it develops!

Low CMC Interaction

Chaos Warp, Pyroblast, Pongify, Rapid Hybridization, Reality Shift, Swan Song, Peek, Gitaxian Probe, Snap, Prismari Command

Cycling Lands

Remote Isle, Smoldering Crater, Lonely Sandbar, Forgotten Cave, Desert of the Mindful, Desert of the Fervent

Utility Lands

Castle Vantress, Mystic Sanctuary, Wandering Fumarole, Skyline Cascade, Halimar Depths, Soaring Seacliff, Faerie Conclave, Moonring Island, Cephalid Coliseum, Magosi, the Waterveil, Spinerock Knoll, Shinka, the Bloodsoaked Keep, Ghitu Encampment, Madblind Mountain, Hanweir Battlements  Meld, Kher Keep, Hellion Crucible, Reliquary Tower, Wasteland, Strip Mine

The only card that uses it is Caribou Range, and it makes tokens.

Alpina, Caribou God

Legendary Snow Creature - Caribou God

As long as Alpina has protection from anything, each other Caribou you control also has protection from those same things. The same is true for flying, vigilance, first strike, trample, indestructible, hexproof and haste.

Caribou you control have snowland walk

Landfall - Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, create a 0/1 white Caribou creature token. If that land was a snow land, create two of them instead.

3/3

On one of the more recent episodes of Game Knights, one of the players cast Neera, Wild Mage. The animation had Neera say "I cast Fireba--" before hiccuping out bubbles and butterflies, and she says "--bubbleflies?"

So, here's that spell because it was cute.

Bubbleflies

Instant

Counter target spell. It's controller creates a number of 0/1 blue Insect Wall creature tokens with flying and defender named Bubbleflies equal to its mana value.
