There was a name for it, I am sure. When a player endeavors to assemble a commander deck for every colour, every guild, every shard, every wedge, and topping it off with WUBRG, there was a name for it. I only learned it near the end of my journey, and it seems to have been much less important than the journey itself. I didn't need to name it to remember it.

So, here are some lists I hope you remember.

Three-Colour Decks

The Lands Restored | For the sands long left to waste, Hazezon Tamar stirs their order and strife. The governor's steps bid the old to forever remain.

The Gyves of Mendacities | Assured that no path is binding, opposed to neither bloodline, Halfdane thrives through parlous deceit and deems nothing beyond his reach.

The Warriors Follow | Mounted doughty and dauntless, Adun Oakenshield incites the grim and fallen to rise once more toward victory.

Tresserhorn’s Awesome Squad of Cool People | For the hearts that could not rule, Lord of Tresserhorn imperiously reigns. They march a road that he once led, dropping in droves for his honour.

The Bird and His Baubles | For the inklings of life's way, Falco Spara, Pactweaverfoil roosts above. He soars as neither a saviour nor scourge, knowing a beautiful path needn't be a glorious one.

Twinkle, My Starfall Wish | For the fates that never lapse, Illuna, Apex of Wishes looms in wistful starlight. She cradles nightfall in patient solace, granting a wish for a life without.

Memories Amongst Eternity | For the ever-remembered, Kroxa and Kunoros wait. Once the psychopomp guides, like sentries at the solemn gates, they ensure each soul is safe on the river.

Beseeming Perfection | In land unbecoming, Tymnafoil and Sidar Kondofoil memorialize its ambition. They lead those who unfalteringly believe that life goes on, no matter what folly besets.

John Snow's Butt Mill Brigade | For the minds that must be culled, Jorn, God of Winter  Flip considers only booty. He mills those who ponder and pursue ass, wreaking an eternity of torpid frore.

Roar Above the Tide of War | For the battlefields' carnage, Zurgo and Ojutai advents, for above the loudest cannon is the cackle of draconic woe.

Two-Colour Decks

Flourishing Benignity | Spry and sprightly tillage adorns the meadows' end, Karametra, God of Harvests smiling in bloom. She is regnant over ways immemorial, Spring her gracious touch, Autumn her hallowed slumber.

Oh Jackdaw Sing Arrogance | The crows seeking carrion, the ravens presaging quietude, Colonel Autumnfoil sits patient. His cold orders echo as shadows over war's silence.

Consigned to the Graves | Hecklers of the atrophied life far under, Gisa and Geralf rake it awake. They reanimate the mouldering with masterless shackles, dragging them along behind.

Fictitious Grandeur | For the bliss of a day long-lived, Kaza, Roil Chaserfoil flies amongst the river's descent and follows the power it provides.

Lurid Revival | For the glory of mornings lost, Bladewing the Risenfoil only rampages. Centuries lost under barrow, rising for a day that shall never come.

The Big Dog | For the rubs and snuggles, Polukranos, Unchained lurks under the couch. WHO'S A GOOD DOGS? YOU'RE A GOOD DOGS. Pets furiously.

Being Gay in the Woods | For none others but themselves, Halana and Alena, Partners roam the uneasy woods. An arrow pierces prey, a blade rends its life, an art they have shared, a love they have found.

The Life of Brion | Hoping to nurture a connection like he had with his son, Brion Stoutarmfoil plays catch. He plays baseball with other folk, but this commonly results in instant death.

Gather, Friends, in Song and Bounty! | For the feasts and the journeys, Volo, Itinerant Scholar wanders amongst Noble Heritage. With glee, he scribes of curious oddities gilding the land, whereover the quill shan't lie.

The River Anew | For the rithe that always flows, Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca brooks its might. Some intrude on the shoreline; the same don't breach its tide.

Single-Colour Decks

There's Rattling at Life's Cage | For the purity that death offers, Yomiji, Who Bars the Way tethers us all. Life may shackle but death breaks its chains. The spirit decides which is worse.

The Endless Tapestry | For the orphrey that kythes the erstwhile, Hakim, Loreweaver watches its weave. Both mind and dreams are threaded into the ages, never extricated and never lost.

Let the Nightmare Go On.. | For the dreams that taint and benight, Chainer, Dementia Masterfoil prowls afoot. His stride snares the darkness and his chains unroot the sleeper, finding much beneath harsh veils.

Kick You Whilst I Dance | For the revelry that reveres the dusk, Diaochan, Artful Beauty cavorts and plays. All must join the dance, their wiles quelled by wiles.

Roots As Blood-Veins Bleed Sickly Sorrow | Witherless roots embosk an ancient wood, where Kodama of the Center Tree sings its light. Verdure is plaintive, spirits are company, cherishing each other and the paths once walked.

The Five-Colour Monstrosity

The Season of Mechanical Harvest | For the silhouettes amid the dawn field, Reaper Kingfoil watches the crops. Keepers of the tilth, toilers of the glade, ruiners of the mindful.

In Conclusion

I thank you for traveling through my eight-year dialogue. I thank you for enjoying this game. May it always mean something to you.

RufusTheGrufus — Commander being a subjective format, we naturally approach the game differently. As such, you have inclusions I wouldn't prioritize, and likely vise versa if I were to construct this thing. It's always tedious to suggest cuts, but I can offer suggestions with that in mind.

My general philosophy in commander deck-building is that every card must do something individually significant without relying on other pieces, including the commander, to be relevant.

Following that line of thought, Ajani's Chosen is a rather small body that can swarm the board, but four mana is a lot to invest in something that doesn't want to attack or block. Archon of Sun's Grace is a far stronger stat line, but is excluded through personal preference.

Funnily enough, pretty much everything in the "Finishers" category is outside my playstyle as well. Particuluarly Bastion of Remembrance, Mirkwood Bats, and Grim Guardian seem to need a lot to get going. However, I know you want the deck to have a power cap.

The anthems are interesting, however plain unblockability to end the game might just be better. I'd only include it because I think the card is neat; it's probably not optimal either way.

For some other stray shots: Mindwrack Harpy is a little low power and Palantir of Orthanc isn't an enchantment, but you seem to like that one a fair amount. Definitely play what you like.

I don't know of this helps. Either way, I implore you to take these with grains of salt.

RufusTheGrufus - I always love thorough reviews. Greatly appreciated!

I'll admit for Spelunking, I'm typically more meticulous when suggesting a card. It was one of the few that doesn't appear on you're maybeboard, so I thought I'd leastwise bring it up.

As for the Overlord of the Balemurk, it's just fantastic. But you're right that whenever I cast it for its impending cost, I give up on it ever being relevant past that point. I include it because it's a self-milling cantrip that is both a creature and enchantment in other zones, giving it more value. It just happens to synergize with a lot.

One last point: Familiar Ground is a very cool consideration. Never heard of the card. I tend away from alpha strike inclusions as well, but it also just lets your commander attack with impunity. You should put it back in. It's old, niche, and sweet.

Love the list! Excellent elaboration, dynamic gameplan, easy +1.

I would highly recommend an Overlord of the Balemurk. It has been creeping into more of my lists and always feels fantastic.

Spelunking is one that I deliberate whenever I consider its inclusion, but its simply far more explosive than its cost suggests. It at least replaces itself and at most synergizes wildly with cards you are already playing.

I see that Ripples of Undeath. You know its potential. If you're contentedly casting Cemetery Tampering, you'll like this one.

Welp, that's all from me! Happy casting!

Given the effects I see in the list, you may enjoy Sevinne's Reclamation.

seshiro_of_the_orochi - Of course! You've inspired me to build a budget version of this commander. It just looks real neat.

To your query, I have two artifact lists: Reaper Kingfoil is all-out artifact combo, and Brion Stoutarm reanimates artificial idiots to fling them.

Happy brewing!

Love this list. It's very silly and it's very cool. That's enough for my +1.

However, what sort of commenter would I be if I were to abstain from imparted recommendations? Tribute to the Squeaky Mister.

Imma be mindful of budget. Welding Jar is a fantastic piece of utility that furthers your affinity plan. They do substantially less, but Mishra's Bauble and Ichor Wellspring each act the same in that regard.

It's no artifact, but Spiteful Banditry poops out treasure tokens when and after it wraths.

Something I did in my artifact list to increase artifact count is replace lands with Traveler's Amulet style effects. For the same reason, I also run Wanderer's Twig, Renegade Map, Mycosynth Wellspring, and Expedition Mapfoil.

For your big squeakies, I couldn't recommend Ruin Grinder more. It's easy to slot in because it's secretly a Mountain, and it let's you draw in a pinch.

I'm sure you know Portal to Phyrexia, but I figured I'd mention it.

One of the best artifacts in the past few years is Brass's Tunnel-Grinder  Flip. It's just good. I've never been displeased with one in hand, as it always minimally replaces itself and card filters.

A final recommendation that forgoes budget concerns is Memory Jar. It's one of the best draw effects an artifact deck can muster. A one-sided, one-turn wheel is as good as it gets, especially when it's cast with affinity.

Of course, all of these suggestions are brought about by a different mind, so employ only what you see fit. You know which squeakies he likes best, so not all of these may be up to snub.

Love the deck! Stay silly!

KayneMarco - Heh heh. Landcyclers.

November 29, 2025 11:26 a.m.

KayneMarco — Thank you for the upvote! I've seen your lists around the site. They're very neat!

The cycling cost was a little restrictive. Fluctuator doesn't reduce it to zero, and the body doesn't excite me. The extra land that I could cycle to find just proved significantly more versatile
