Porcuparrot Discussion

I've found that running hexproof is a pretty good option with anything that mutates. Dream Trawler might be a good fit here since it is a good finisher in it's own right and the discard from it works well with Offspring's Revenge. Mesmerizing Benthid is a good alternative for the same reason. Porcuparrot is a pretty nice card to consider here as it combos really well with Boot Nipper (Deathtouch Pinger/Repeatable Removal =)).

I feel like I have enough ramp to pull off either of those, but honestly I need the draw power early more than late. It's a setup mechanic for this deck more than a payoff. So, mana cost is the reason, I guess, and also because Frantic Search is a bawler if it were to come up on one of the couple cascade spells.

To a point, at least, I guess. Sorry, I'm arguing with myself as I type this. Now that I'm thinking, I really only included as much mutate creatures as I did for the sake of recurring Illuna's mutate ability. Like, I wasn't going to put Porcuparrot or Parcelbeast into the deck originally, but in playtesting I noticed that I wasn't mutating Illuna often enough. So I put them in there to raise the percentage. In that case, Return of the Wildspeaker might not be a bad card to have late-game.

Damn you and your seed of doubt!

As for cards to cut, you're probably right about both equipment. Seems somehow odd to only have 2 artifacts in the deck. What do you think about cutting one or more counterspell? I already have a decent amount of hexproof and counterproof. The counterspells are there to keep opponents from ramping out something faster than I do. That's really all they're for.

I confess that Rogue's Gloves was my first choice but then I read that It draws in every damage, not only combat, Ruric thar Dork Will give you 3 cards, as Porcuparrot Will give one every time It pins a player.

EDIT: Oops, it's combat damage hahahaha Sorry! I would consider cut both of the equips.

Oh, That's Sad, this Rack was cheap back in 2013/14.

Been dabbling with things on my own Vadrok list, especially as I see the effect Jeska Ascendency can have in the mix. Wow. I've been trying to make sure I had some tap abilities on my creatures. There is some access to Porcuparrot. But the main items I wanted to mention were Mishra's Factory and especially Fatestitcher as ways to generate more mana in the middle of a Ascendency powered turn. The factory is just an efficient manland, nice to park Vadrok on or under in a pinch after a board wipe, or while expecting one. While the Fatestitcher's ability to untap things, as well as be super efficient if he was in the graveyard can really bend an Ascendency turn as well.

Hello Harogi, that’s a great idea!! Thanks for the suggestion! Porcuparrot works very well with deathtouch you’re absolutely right!

I think Porcuparrot would do well in your sideboard since you have a fair few creatures deathtouch, repeatable removal every turn can be crazy useful against certain decks at the expense of some aggressiveness.

Interesting deck, but from my experience playing Porcuparrot in a Deathtouch deck myself (I call it Death Parrot) I can't help be feel like it'll be underwhelming here. If you end up mutating 2 or 3 times on the same creature, you won't want to hold it back to deal 2~3 targeted damage, you'll want it to go wreck havoc!

Also, I would recommend running Offspring's Revenge since the token you get back will still have all its cool mutate abilities, and it being a 1/1 won't matter since you'll mutate more stuff onto it anyway. Should work nicely along with the Mythos of Snapdax that you're already running. I guess it would be kind of sad if Marauding Raptor ate all the babies though. Anyway, food for thought!
