Maybeboard

WIP; goal is around 70% power-level.

Thoughts and considerations before, during, and after cutting down to 100:

Deliberations:

  • Swapped From Beyond for Awakening Zone, and Cryptolith Rites for Crippling Fear (maybe shoulda swapped Phyrexian Altar, will see.)
  • How good is Squirrel Nest [without Earthcraft] really? (Though it does do nasty things with Sylvan Anthem or Altars.. Heck even Cradle.) Actually, maybe From Beyond is just better here, since it doesn't have to tap a Land to be used, and technically also ramps you. Or just cut it for something else?
  • From Beyond can find Smothering Abomination , does that make it better than Awakening Zone ? Should I run both? (Neither?)
  • Arachnogenesis is good to stop aggro and make tokens, but is it needed or mostly just for memes?
  • Krav, the Unredeemed ? Sheoldred, Whispering One ? Whisper, Blood Liturgist ? Priest of Forgotten Gods ? Have second thoughts about these, but they're probably worth keeping..- Lightning Greaves ? Commander is easy to re-cast, and not as likely to be targeted as others.. (or is it? I heard from people that Chatterfang gets targeted/removed often. That's concerning, so I'll squeeze it back into the list..) Also great synergy w/ Cryptolith Rites (if I add it) when tapping newly made tokens..
  • Cryptolith Rite vs Phyrexian Altar ? Sac outlet is nice, but so is having tons of reusable mana (and Greaves is back in the list, so it can really put in some work now.)
  • Added Crippling Fear as a board wipe, but not sure I really need it what with Chatterfang's ability and Gravepacts..
  • The most important question may be if I keep Grave Pact , as it/ Dictate of Erebos is kind of the cornerstone strategy of the deck, but maybe having two sources of such a powerful/feels-bad-to-play-against effect is too much? Maybe it isn't, but still a consideration for pruning. Especially since the Commander can just sac a bunch of Squirrels if you need to kill something. (Dictate is the better of the two because less pips and Flash allows for some blow-outs.) Though my friend convinced me to keep it in, since it's a main focus of the deck's aristocrats strategy.
  • I could add the Scurry Oak and Ivy Lane Denizen combo, easy to tutor/pod into as well, and they'd work decently just by themselves (though Denizen could get unwieldy with all those counters going everywhere..)

Thoughts on stuff already cut

  • Cut a couple 5-drop token generators, keeping only the essentials [that also give immediate value.]
  • Cut Temur Sabertooth , while using it to buyback creatures to re-use ETBs is cute, and he can save some key pieces when faced with removal/boardwipes, I'm not sure this is the deck for it..
  • Not 100% sure on Mana Crypt ; yeah Crypt allows for T1 Commander plays which is awesome, but maybe too awesome for my desired power-level? Other than that I'm 100% sure on the rest of the artifact package.
  • Finale of Devastation too easy a win-con?
  • Too much card advantage? Cut Sylvan Library to keep power-level lower?

PS. Did I forget anything important, and/or anything in the Sideboard, I should put in the Main?
