I like the this deck concept I have several similar(I'll list one with the simplest concept I use) I love Witherbloom!

My suggestions come in your Lands, ie. instead of 2xCrawling Barrens, I'd run 4x Faceless Haven I'd also suggest running 26 lands if you are going to run with "Manlands". I would use 4x Darkbore Pathway  Flip. No "jungle hollows" nor "Campus" they are too slow for Witherbloom. 9x Snow-Covered Forest and 9x Snow-Covered Swamp . One because the are considered "Basic" Land and two it only takes 3 Snow-Covered Lands to activate Faceless Haven instead of 4 for crawling barrens.

Have thought about adding Plumb the Forbidden ? With Witherbloom Apprentice and Bastion of Remembrance it's like a machine gun and since it Drain Life they can't "prevent damage" from it.

Also the Learn mechanic with cards like Eyetwitch + Sedgemoor Witch is great for more canon fodder like Pest Summoning or Necrotic Fumes .

These are all just my suggestions, take them with a grain of salt. Ultimately what matters is designing and playing a deck you like/love.

Hey, consider Sol Ring ? It's a staple mana rock in Commander. Consider less Swamps and more Golgari dual lands? Green mana is much more important than black. 11 Swamps really reduces the consistency of having a green source turn one for a green one drop mana dork. You don't want to draw all Swamps and no Forests.

You can speed up game play and help color fixing by adding more dual lands that can ETB untapped:

Several of these lands could replace lands that always ETB tapped: Foul Orchard , Golgari Guildgate , Jungle Hollow , Golgari Rot Farm . Elves of Deep Shadow is very helpful since can make black mana. Deathrite Shaman if playing multiplayer since can exile lands from opponents graveyards.

Pretty standard elf tribal. Just a few card suggestions.

Elderfang Ritualist , Tajuru Snarecaster , Thornmantle Striker , and your artifacts are overcosted for what they'll do.

Wildborn Preserver is a strong add, Toski, Bearer of Secrets is a good card for go-wide decks like this (probably only 1-3 though), the rest of the Skemfar Avengers and Haralds will be important for keeping card advantage.

Removal section! You're in Golgari, the colors of the best removal in the game. Poison the Cup is one of the weaker options. Binding the Old Gods , Heartless Act , Bloodchief's Thirst , all three of those are so much stronger than Poison.

Lands now! Darkbore Pathway  Flip is an instant four-of. Faceless Haven (2-3) is also a good idea in a tribal deck, and that means turning your basics into snow lands. Hagra Mauling  Flip can help you prevent flooding, but only if you don't mind a tapped land now and then. Having more than 20 lands will help with that. I'd probably recommend 24 for this deck.

Those aren't exactly budget options, so if you're just working with what you have, I understand, and you've done great!

I have been playing BG Elves for quiet a while and my version looks a fair bit different. Here is some random thoughts & questions to start a discussion:

  • I find Tyvar Kell to be very underwhelming in actual games and cut him down to a single copy, which I am considering cutting as well.

  • No Llanowar Visionary seems odd, any reason not to run them?

  • I find Skemfar Shadowsage to be amongst the most important cards in the deck, it's 4 mana but the impact it has on games is worth it I find and I don't see running less then the full set.

  • How is your mana base performing? Considering adjusting mine a bit and the snow base with Faceless Haven seems interesting. Are they the reason for not running the full 4 Darkbore Pathway  Flip? 18 lands seems a little bit low as well.

Got quiet a few more things, but will leave it at this to start.

Hey, good edit so far. Nice Ezuri, Renewal, Shadow and Warmaster upgrades :)

What's your budget for upgrading? The precon has too many Swamps compared to Forests. You've cut some already, but consider cutting more? Green mana is much more important than black mana especially now that you have added more one drop green mana Elves which is another good upgrade. My advice is cut several Swamps for Golgari dual lands especially lands that can ETB untapped.


Some of the powerful tribal Elves have exploded in price since the release of the precon. If your budget allows these cards are upgrades.


Copperhorn Scout can be another repeatable untap all your creatures effect and it's an one drop Elf. Pair Scout with Magistrate + Lathril to make Scout and Lathril bigger each time you attack. Magistrate first puts counters on Scout that way Scout can survive combat. Scout + Lathril attack which unaps Magistrate to then tap Magistrate to put counters on Lathril.

Staff of Domination is a mana sink/win condition enabler. It's busted because it can untap itself. Use it in combination with a big mana producer such as Archdruid who can make 5 or more mana to make infinite green mana. With infinite green mana you can activate Staff to draw into a mana sink win condition such as Ezuri. Staff can also be used with infinite mana if you have 10 or more Elves with Lathril to repeatedly untap Lathril + 10 Elves making Lathril's tap ability the win condition.

Chord of Calling is powerful with Elves, an instant speed tutor that Elf tokens can help to cast with convoke. Wirewood Herald when it dies is an Elf tutor. Skullclamp is excellent repeatable draw when your Commander can create 1/1 tokens as well as with other repeatable token sources.

Shamanic Revelation and Regal Force are other mass draw effects with Elves. Regal is nice since it's a creature which is easier to tutor for.

Hello,

Deck looks fun, but here's a few other fun things you could consider, maybe as single copies:

Shadowspear You have a lot of big dudes who could gain you a lot of life with the lifelink, the trample can still be nice on your decent creatures that don't already have it, and having the option to get rid of hexproof and indestructible can be nice to have sitting on the board.

The Great Henge You have mostly creatures, and many big ones, so this would be an immediate upgrade to the deck. Even the life gain can be relevant with your Deathless Knight .

Esika's Chariot Could be just a fun thing to play with. It could be interesting to multiply your food tokens with it, or even the giant from Giant Opportunity . Should be easy to crew here too.

Your mana base could benefit from running 4 Darkbore Pathway  Flip and maybe some Fabled Passage especially if you insist on playing Sorcerer's Broom , but personally those would be the first things to go. I'm also not sure how much you like Giant's Skewer but I'm pretty sure you don't need 4 of them either.
