Last post here. This will be a list of suggestions. If I place an "***" next to one I strongly reccomend you try to find room for it. Regardless, all of these suggestions should be considered as I think they're all good. I wouldn't be suggesting them otherwise.

LANDS

MDFC's:

Bala Ged Recovery  Flip

Agadeem's Awakening  Flip

Turntimber Symbiosis  Flip

Fell the Profane  Flip*** (highly suggest cutting a basic swamp)

Disciple of Freyalise  Flip

Branchloft Pathway  Flip (swap with a basic if you get this)

Brightclimb Pathway  Flip (swap with a basic if you get this)

Darkbore Pathway  Flip (swap with a basic if you get this)

Normal lands:

Thespian's Stage

Wasteland*** (I suggested this as a swap actually but I wanna relist it here so you don't forget)

Dust Bowl*** (Strip mine, wasteland, and dust bowl are the best lands that kill lands in the game, period. Run these 3 and you do not need any others.

Path of Ancestry (3+ color decks are gonna want any-color lands. You'd be surprised)

Mana Confluence (3+ color decks are gonna want any-color lands. You'd be surprised)

City of Brass (3+ color decks are gonna want any-color lands. You'd be surprised)

Horizon of Progress*** (3+ color decks are gonna want any-color lands. You'd be suprised) (The reason I added asterisks here and not the other 5 color lands is its ramp ability. You are running 40 lands so that ability will do work AND it's sac/draw ability will also be nuts in your deck. Did I mention it also taps for all 5 colors AND colorless too? Lol such a good land for you and in general)

Glacial Chasmfoil***

Underground Mortuary*** (helps with graveyard, is fetchable)

Lush Portico*** (helps with graveyard, is fetchable)

Shadowy Backstreet*** (helps with graveyard, is fetchable)

CREATURES

(You want several more "play additional land'' effects in this deck. Believe me the deck will be way more powerful with a critical mass of these effects.)

Ancient Greenwarden

Dryad of the Ilysian Grove***

Traveling Chocobo

Wayward Swordtooth***

The Gitrog Monster

ENCHANTMENTS

Necropotence***

Attrition*** (you have tokens out the wazoo to sac. this is also repeatable, reusable removal on a stick. even if your opponent has black creatures, its still a sac outlet.)

Grave Pact (double value if you have this AND attrition out. I would've put asterisks here too, but idk if you have enough sac outlets. Its good without sac outlets obviously, but with more it would be an auto-inlcude as opposed to a very solid suggestion)

Survival of the Fittest (would've put asterisks here too but you need roughly 25+ creatures before this is really worth running. This appears to be the case with most cedh decks that run this and it's also been my personal experience. This is a suggestion that you could include or ignore tbh.

ARTIFACTS

(RUN BOTH OF THESE!!! VERY IMPORTANT)

Conduit of Worlds*** (also gives you general recursion for every card in your deck except instants and sorceries)

Crucible of Worlds***

SORCERIES

Ravages of Warfoil****** (extra asterisks lol. This is a functional reprint of Armageddon. Doubles your chances of MLD!)

INSTANTS

Teferi's Protection (reason for this suggestion is it's heroic intervention #2 for the purposes of comboing with Armageddon/ravages of war. You'll destroy all lands on the board except your own. Be prepared for people to ragequit lmao.)

zapyourtumor Some really great suggestions here! I absolutely love Phyrexian Tower and Spymaster's Vault. Those additions open up some really fun early game interactions! I feel like I'll need at least one Bojuka Bog in the sideboard. If the primary color for Wastewood Verge weren't I could see myself running it, but more of deck requires to cast. The reason I like Darkbore Pathway  Flip is because the main thing I care about is having on board and untapped mana on turn 3. Darkbore Pathway  Flip has no check to entering untapped and lets me choose what color I need based on what else is in my hand.

I have taken a look through hollowvine and crabvine looking for inspiration while building this list, but I'm aiming for something a little different with this deck. I can certainly see that those decks have the ability to cheat Vengevine out a little bit faster, but they rely on the randomness of mill and looting. The mantra I had going through my head putting this list together was "Every strat looks great until your opponent top decks every piece of removal they could possibly ask for". So if everything were to die, how well can you re-establish? Tenacious recurrence is what I want. I wanna kill my own stuff and bring it back so often that removal can have plenty of targets but still feel dead in my opponents hand.

I have some suggestions. Feel free to ignore them!

  • Unearth instead of Treasured Find.

  • The Ozolith instead of or in addition to Fate Transfer - it's quite a expensive, so maybe you don't want to invest in it, but it's cheaper to cast and as a permanent, works statically, which is quite nice. The downside, in addition to its hefty price is that it's Legendary.

  • Corpsejack Menace has long been a staple in golgari counters

  • You didn't include "Budget" in your description or Hubs, so I'll suggest Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth as useful lands. They might help your opponents mana-fix, too though. And of course, if they're too expensive, just disregard this. Other lands to consider: Castle Locthwain, Bojuka Bog, Darkbore Pathway  Flip, Blooming Marsh, Deathcap Glade.

  • Thoughtseize is a classic black spell, but only 2x isn't much, especially when it's your only means of removal. Golgari is arguably the best color combination for removal ever. Abrupt Decay and Assassin's Trophy are at the top of a long list of great removal spells, and both are exclusive to golgari. I'd suggest 2x of each, but either would be useful. The other could go in your sideboard. Since you are already running some sac outlet creatures, Fatal Push would be a good fit, too.

  • Bow of Nylea is always good. It's another Legendary, so no more than 1x.

Gidgetimer on Gitrog, Ravenous ride and MDFC

You will not be able to put the back face lands into the battlefield off of The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride.

The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride allows you to "put land cards from your hand onto the battlefield" not "play lands". The difference between the wording is slight, but important.

In all zones except the stack and the battlefield MDFCs only have the characteristics of their front face. MDFCs like Disciple of Freyalise  Flip can not be put onto the battlefield from The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride's ability. MDFCs that are lands on both sides allow you to only put the front face in off of The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride (Darkbore Pathway  Flip could be put into play, but Slitherbore Pathway  Flip could not).

If an effect were allowing you to play lands from somewhere besides your hand, or allowing you to play extra lands then you can put any face of a MDFC that is a land into the battlefield.

OOOOOO thank you so much for the feedback! I cannot wait to test out some of these suggestions.

I honestly count Ignoble Hierarch as .5 of a land. So technically, this deck is a 23 land deck based off of how I brew. I used to run more lands, but found myself getting flooded. On top of that, we don't necessarily need to hit a land drop every turn to win. I definitely agree on the modifications of the mana base. I actually just purchased a Castle Locthwain to test. I also plan to test out a few Darkbore Pathway  Flip as well.

My meta is full of creature based strategies like the ones you mentioned, so the difference in opinion on Force of Despair is understandable. It just never seems to let me down in the games I have played.

Cankerous Thirst is a card that I am still actively testing. Testing has been going well, as it pumps our midrange threats and gets rid of pesky blockers. I definitely understand where you are coming from when you recommend replacing it with cheaper removal.

The reason I argue for Dreg Mangler over more Glissa Sunslayer is because of haste. Glissa is great for utility and walling off creatures, but this deck thrives on dealing chunks of damage quickly, which I feel like Dreg is better for; especially when paired with Mimic. Also, Glissa is legendary, which discourages me from running too many copies.

I never thought of Grist until you mentioned it. That might very well be an add in I have to test next. I don't see much of a drawback in running a few copies.

Thanks again for the feedback! :)

thanks a ton. Underrealm Lich and Acidic Slime are on my to add list already. and for Blightstep Pathway  Flip i was just saying the other day i need to do some land work on this deck to make it run more efficiently so thank for pointing out to change to Darkbore Pathway  Flip.

i had never heard of Blood Artist or Grim Haruspex but ill make sure i grab them and find a way to work them in same with Krosan Grip and Indrik Stomphowler.
