kamarupa on Golgari Scavengers

I have some suggestions. Feel free to ignore them!

  • Unearth instead of Treasured Find.

  • The Ozolith instead of or in addition to Fate Transfer - it's quite a expensive, so maybe you don't want to invest in it, but it's cheaper to cast and as a permanent, works statically, which is quite nice. The downside, in addition to its hefty price is that it's Legendary.

  • Corpsejack Menace has long been a staple in golgari counters

  • You didn't include "Budget" in your description or Hubs, so I'll suggest Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth as useful lands. They might help your opponents mana-fix, too though. And of course, if they're too expensive, just disregard this. Other lands to consider: Castle Locthwain, Bojuka Bog, Darkbore Pathway  Flip, Blooming Marsh, Deathcap Glade.

  • Thoughtseize is a classic black spell, but only 2x isn't much, especially when it's your only means of removal. Golgari is arguably the best color combination for removal ever. Abrupt Decay and Assassin's Trophy are at the top of a long list of great removal spells, and both are exclusive to golgari. I'd suggest 2x of each, but either would be useful. The other could go in your sideboard. Since you are already running some sac outlet creatures, Fatal Push would be a good fit, too.

  • Bow of Nylea is always good. It's another Legendary, so no more than 1x.

Gidgetimer on Gitrog, Ravenous ride and MDFC

You will not be able to put the back face lands into the battlefield off of The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride.

The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride allows you to "put land cards from your hand onto the battlefield" not "play lands". The difference between the wording is slight, but important.

In all zones except the stack and the battlefield MDFCs only have the characteristics of their front face. MDFCs like Disciple of Freyalise  Flip can not be put onto the battlefield from The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride's ability. MDFCs that are lands on both sides allow you to only put the front face in off of The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride (Darkbore Pathway  Flip could be put into play, but Slitherbore Pathway  Flip could not).

If an effect were allowing you to play lands from somewhere besides your hand, or allowing you to play extra lands then you can put any face of a MDFC that is a land into the battlefield.

OOOOOO thank you so much for the feedback! I cannot wait to test out some of these suggestions.

I honestly count Ignoble Hierarch as .5 of a land. So technically, this deck is a 23 land deck based off of how I brew. I used to run more lands, but found myself getting flooded. On top of that, we don't necessarily need to hit a land drop every turn to win. I definitely agree on the modifications of the mana base. I actually just purchased a Castle Locthwain to test. I also plan to test out a few Darkbore Pathway  Flip as well.

My meta is full of creature based strategies like the ones you mentioned, so the difference in opinion on Force of Despair is understandable. It just never seems to let me down in the games I have played.

Cankerous Thirst is a card that I am still actively testing. Testing has been going well, as it pumps our midrange threats and gets rid of pesky blockers. I definitely understand where you are coming from when you recommend replacing it with cheaper removal.

The reason I argue for Dreg Mangler over more Glissa Sunslayer is because of haste. Glissa is great for utility and walling off creatures, but this deck thrives on dealing chunks of damage quickly, which I feel like Dreg is better for; especially when paired with Mimic. Also, Glissa is legendary, which discourages me from running too many copies.

I never thought of Grist until you mentioned it. That might very well be an add in I have to test next. I don't see much of a drawback in running a few copies.

Thanks again for the feedback! :)

thanks a ton. Underrealm Lich and Acidic Slime are on my to add list already. and for Blightstep Pathway  Flip i was just saying the other day i need to do some land work on this deck to make it run more efficiently so thank for pointing out to change to Darkbore Pathway  Flip.

i had never heard of Blood Artist or Grim Haruspex but ill make sure i grab them and find a way to work them in same with Krosan Grip and Indrik Stomphowler.

Good deck all around. I do have a couple of suggestions based on my long history with Meren.

1- Replace Blightstep Pathway  Flip with Darkbore Pathway  Flip. I'm assuming that's what you meant to enter?

2- Underrealm Lich is super underplayed in these reanimation-based decks, but it's beyond useful. It fills up your graveyard and protects you from milling out.

3- Blood Artist is pretty much a must-have for any aristocrats deck.

4- Grim Haruspex is incredible for card advantage.

5- Cards like Acidic Slime, Krosan Grip, and Indrik Stomphowler as most graveyard-hate cards are artifacts and enchantments and you'll want to be able to shut those cards down whenever you can (think Tormod's Crypt, Rest in Peace, Leyline of the Void, Relic of Progenitus, etc). You have some, but you could have more.

I like the deck themes you're working with; this looks pretty different from my build but I think this could help improve your power level a bit.

There are some better budget lands than the ones you are currently running. I've put parentheses around some that aren't quite as cheap and bolded the ones that are definitely in your price range.

Painlands: Llanowar Wastes, (Karplusan Forest)

Check lands: Dragonskull Summit, Rootbound Crag, (Woodland Cemetery)

MDFC lands: Cragcrown Pathway  Flip, (Blightstep Pathway  Flip), (Darkbore Pathway  Flip)

Scry lands: Temple of Malady, Temple of Malice, Temple of Abandon
