Welcome to an EDH homage to the legendary, Miss Trostani Spears.

This is a competitive-ish casual Trostani landfall/fog deck. The deck uses fog effects to help you ramp while you're opponents do all your work for you. It's a work in progress, so def feel free to give feedback.

Win conditions

Break the Ice

The most aggro way to win is to tutor into Knight of the Reliquary and pop Dark Depths using Thespian's Stage. Use populate mechanics to protect the 20/20 flying token from removal.

You want a piece of me?

Ramp up to 8 mana for the classic Trostani Phyrexian Processor super minions. Spend like half your life to make some big baddies. Make sure to wait to release your minions on the stack at the right time. This artifact usually doesn't last a full turn around the table.

Gimme More

Hoard life from creatures entering the battlefield to blast your enemies in the face with Aetherflux Reservoir. Bet you didn't see this one comin.

Till the World Ends

If you really need to close out a grindy game, there are a number of infinite mana combos in here. It takes a few pieces to pull them off, so it's not the most reliable way to win—but it's definitely fun! The outlets for infinite mana are Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage or Kjeldoran Outpost. Both are easy to tutor and recur and are generally unassuming on the board.

The first set of combos use Rings of Brighthearth and Deserted Temple. For an immediate win, you'll need Trostani and Aetherflux Reservoir or you'll need Concordant Crossroads on the board to attack the turn you activate. You can also wait to run the combo at the beginning of the last endstep before your turn. Once you have Rings on the board, grab your combo land pieces with Scapeshift or Tempt with Discovery

Rings combo: Gaea's Cradle or Lotus Vale + Deserted Temple + Rings of Brighthearth

The second set of combos use Maze of Ith and only generates infinite mana during combat. If you don't have Trostani/Aetherflux, you'll have to hope your infinite army lasts a turn around the board. Teferi's Protection and Rootborn Defenses are good for that.

Magus of the Candelabra + Gaea's Cradle or Lotus Vale + Maze of Ith

Voyaging Satyr + Rings of Brighthearth + Maze of Ith ...if you want it, make it happen!

If I said I want your body now, would you hold it against me?

You can also oppressively control the board with Angel of Sanctions and Flickerwisp token armies. Use Mirrorpoolor Mimic Vat to turn your creatures—or your opponents creatures—into bodies for your use. Respond to removal by populating at instant speed with Trostani or her lesser twin, Christina-Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage-Aguilera for ETB effects. Give me somethin' good!

Slave 4 U

Beat your opponents down with an army of tokens, generated from landfall ETB/LTB. Emeria Angel and Titania, Protector of Argoth are the back-up dancers here. Add in token multipliers like Doubling Season with extra land drop effects from Exploration and Budoka Gardener   and you'll have your token swarm. Life from the Loam and Ramunap Excavator keep the lands moving onto the battlefield.

Hit Me Baby One More Time

Or just hang back and let your opponents kill each other. The beautiful thing about Trostani Spears is that she just has to stand there and look amazing while everyone else does the work for her. Leave your mana untapped and when your opponents attack drop Arachnogenesis, Settle the Wreckage, Rootborn Defenses, Rout, Teferi's Protection, or Constant Mists. You can also pull out Glacial Chasm in response to threats with Knight of the Reliquary, Crop Rotation, or Budoka Gardener  .

Once you drop a slapback or two, your opponents will hesitate to approach you when you're mana is open.

Dark Depths + Trostani, Selesnya's Voice / Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage / Rootborn Defenses / Sundering Growth instant protection for your Marit Lage token. You can also populate it to untap it and block by surprise. If Trostani is out, you'll instantly gain 20 life.

Magus of the Candelabra / Voyaging Satyr / Deserted Temple + Gaea's Cradle / Lotus Vale gives explosive ramp

Life from the Loam + Cycle Lands gives good card draw

Knight of the Reliquary + Maze of Ith attack and untap knight after combat damage has been dealt to let you use her ability

Mirrorpool + Sun Titan / Eternal Witness / Titania, Protector of Argoth creates new token every other turn (or every turn if you can untap Mirrorpool). Note that Titania will destroy her copy, but she'll make a new elemental token and if you copy her token you trigger her ETB each time.

Mirrorpool + Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage makes self-populating tokens. Good luck trying to get rid of it!

Mirrorpool + Oracle of Mul Daya play lots of lands during your turn

Seedborn Muse + Trostani, Selesnya's Voice / Mimic Vat tokens every turn!

Titania, Protector of Argoth + Fetchlands gives you an elemental token when she hits the board

Scapeshift + World Shaper bring High Market onto the battlefield, sac shaper and voila! All your lands are on the battlefield.

Green Sun's Zenith + Dryad Arbor turn one ramp

Phyrexian Processor + Swords to Plowshares get your life back in a pinch

Gimme, Gimme More

Since the strategy here involves dumping lots of lands into the battlefield and graveyard, tutor for Runic Armasaur, Tireless Tracker, Sylvan Library or Land Tax early game to keep your hand full. Life from the Loam and the cycle lands are also a draw engine.

You Better Work B--Ch

Heavy control can be oppressive to play against (no matter what deck you play, really). This deck responds to counter-spell heavy metas by attempting to create tokens that can populate themselves. Use Mirror Pool to make a copy of a key creature at instant speed if it's targeted. Then use Trostani or Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage or Sundering Growth and Rootborn Defenses to populate your token to keep it alive. You can also save Rootborn Defenses to protect against board wipes, in addition to Teferi's Protection, and Comeuppance.

For really oppressive control decks, bring a Lapse of Certainty, Rebuff the Wicked, and/or Autumn's Veil into the package.
