Abzan Runemark

Enchantment — Aura

Enchant creature

Enchanted creature gets +2/+2.

Enchanted creature has vigilance as long as you control a black or green permanent.

LivingThing on Ghave's army of counters

Overall a solid deck, but there are some cards im not sure why you added

  1. Vampire Nighthawk
  2. Abzan Runemark
  3. Siege Rhino
  4. Ravenous Chupacabra
  5. Blisterpod
  6. Wreath of Geists
  7. Groundswell

These were some cards that either were just bad, or didn't contribute to the game plan of the deck in a meaningful way, such as Vampire Nighthawk .

Kogarashi on If an enchantment is removed …

Counters remain with the creature, even when the source that placed them there goes away. This is different from stat buffs that come from enchantments, which do go away (compare Abzan Runemark , which gives +2/+2, to Eternal Thirst , which places counters).

I'm not sure you really need hexproof creatures other than Sigarda. She's nearly impossible to remove once you give her Indestructible, and the point of this sort of deck is to stack up one creature to scary proportions; and since this is commander you'll always have her. I'd suggest more creatures with good blocking capability like Sentinel of the Eternal Watch, Silent Arbiter, or Nyx-Fleece Ram, or utility creatures like Auramancer and Heliod's Pilgrim. I'd also recommend Sigarda's Aid so you can flash out auras as needed.

A few good enchantments you're missing out on: Battle Mastery, Ghostblade Eidolon, Abzan Runemark, and Shield of the Oversoul are all very powerful buffs. Flickerform makes Sigarda almost invincible (it takes coordinated opponents to take her down). Some tutors would be useful Open the Armory and Three Dreams are fantastic.

Don't overlook equipment in this sort of deck, you have a lot of enchantment synergy, but there's some fantastic equipment out there Darksteel Plate, Hero's Blade, and Sword of Vengeance to name a few.

I've found Tragic Arrogance and Cataclysm to be very powerful board wipes in this sort of deck.

Fatred on Commander Adventures - Free EDH Quest Variant

@CommanderAdventures I've read over some of the cards in the Starter Set and I'm anticipating playing this, however I noticed that the word "get" is used in some rules text rather than the proper "gain(s)" or "has".

For example on Gideon's Vengeance the dismiss wording is "Each opponent gets 5 life" the proper wording should be "Each opponent gains 5 life".

This might Combo in a sense with another quest that has some completion reliant on gaining life but such is the ways of Magic the Gathering.

After I noticed this the rest of the cards that have the word "get" for an ability or keyword now feel off, the Vengeance dismissal costs for example are some of the offenders.
If creatures receive keywords like Lifelink or Indestructible the word before should be "gain(s)" or "has" for situational granting like Abzan Runemark for example. If a Permanent receives a counter of any sort they "get" said counter.

Now I may not have done enough research into it but of all the cards I do know and of the ones I've searched on Gatherer the following holds true:

A player or Permanent can "get" counters (energy, experience, +1/+1, -1/-1, etc...).
A player or Permanent "gain(s)" or "has" a Keyword or Ability bestowed upon them (Lifelink, Hexproof, Intimidate, etc..).

miampizza on Karametra, God of Harvests

The Landfall ability indeed triggers along Kalametra's.

Some cards I would switch out include:

Abzan Kin-Guard 4 mana 3/3 lifelink is quite weak.

Aetherwind Basker Has no synergy with the deck.

Ajani's Comrade In my opinion Scavenging Ooze would be much stronger in terms of utility and reliability

Argothian Elder Land untap is useful if you're using many utility lands, which you are not. Could be replaced by any mana dorks like Elvish Mystic or Avacyn's Pilgrim

Aven Mindcensor This guy should stay if your playgroup is playing combo-heavy decks, otherwise he's useless

Blinding Souleater Little synergy with the deck

Salt Road Patrol Lacks utility

An-Havva Inn and Ancestral Tribute Very defensive cards, but Trostani, Selesnya's Voice or evenPelakka Wurm would benefit the deck more.

Angelic Blessing It looks rather weak compared to Collective Blessing orCathars' Crusade

Aether Vial A pricy card mostly used in tempo decks like Merfolks. Not very useful here since we should have plenty of ramp anyway.

Accorder's Shield Less synergy than say, Sword of the Animist

Chimeric Staff Looks like a weaker Chameleon Colossus to me.

Arboria Kinda goes against Karametra as a whole since you WANT to play creatures to pump out lands.

Absolute Grace+Absolute Law I mean, if you're only facing red and black, this should stay. Otherwise, it's an even deader draw than Great Wall.

Abzan Runemark Weaker than Rancor or many other boosting enchantments.

There might still be a few cards I find odd or out of place, but for now I'm slightly running out of time, so I'll proceed with some general must-have cards:

Sol Ring, Selesnya Signet, Command Tower, Oblivion Ring, Chord of Calling, Solemn Simulacrum, Tireless Tracker, Sun Titan, Eternal Witness.

Also wow Living Plane if you own one it's great, though if not it's quite the pricey card.

I can give you an extensive list of potentially great cards if you want me to, though tonight this is all the time I had, my apologies.

sonnet666 on I Need Help Making My …

Wild Research has a color identity, and is not legal for your deck.

The only way I can think of to attach lots of auras to Uril at the same time is to play Retether, Open the Vaults, or Replenish while you have Uril out and a lot of auras in the graveyard already. Either that or play Primal Surge and hope you don't hit a non-permanent. Up to you whether you think either of those are a good idea.

The ONLY ways for you to deal infect damage with Uril in Naya colors are Grafted Exoskeleton and Triumph of the Hordes. There are no other cards that grant infect to a creature outside of blue and black.

Symmetrical card draw is very bad in EDH, since it just gives people more gas to answer you or win the game ahead of you. Font of Mythos, Horn of Greed, Howling Mine, Omen Machine, Temple Bell, and Rites of Flourishing should all be cut. Wheel of Fortune and Reforge the Soul are usually better because you can wait to cast them until you have no hand and your opponents have lots of cards, but you actually have better options in green, so I'd recommend cutting at least Reforge.

Replace with the following: Sram, Senior Edificer, Kor Spiritdancer, Rishkar's Expertise, Sage's Reverie, Soul's Majesty, Abzan Beastmaster, Mesa Enchantress, Verduran Enchantress, and Eidolon of Blossoms (maybe).

You also NEED better ramp. Tithe, Cultivate, Journey of Discovery, Elfhame Sanctuary, and Kodama's Reach are all sub-par and should be cut. 41 lands is also WAY too high. You'll be able to ramp much more consistantly if you cut that down. You can go down to 35 lands without a problem, and then after that you can cut one land for every 0 CMC mana rock you add to the deck. (Don't worry about Exploration, Burgeoning, and Oracle of Mul Daya being less effective. The extra draw factor will offset that. I would probably cut Azuza though, since she doesn't give you much if you aren't flooded with land.) Out of your lands, Jungle Shrine, Maze of Ith, Mikokoro, Center of the Sea, and Temple of the False God are all kind of bad and could be cut. Some better utility lands would be Kessig Wolf Run and Hall of the Bandit Lord.

All of the following are better ramp than you have: Mana Crypt, Mox Diamond, Chrome Mox, Lotus Petal, Lotus Bloom, Ancient Tomb, Nature's Lore, Three Visits, Coalition Relic, Boros Signet, Selesnya Signet, Gruul Signet, Llanowar Elves, Fyndhorn Elves, Elvish Mystic, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Dryad Arbor (tutored off of Green Sun's Zenith, Harrow, Crop Rotation (into Ancient Tomb), Gemstone Caverns, Chromatic Lantern (maybe), Joraga Treespeaker (maybe), Skyshroud Claim (maybe), Trace of Abundance (maybe), Fertile Ground (maybe), Utopia Sprawl (maybe), and Wild Growth (maybe). You may also want to consider Herald of the Pantheon or Hero of Iroas to reduce the cost of your spells.

Now, on to the auras. You have a ton of auras that don't really do... anything? I get that you want to buff Uril as much as possible, but EDH is format of card advantage, and you really shouldn't be playing cards that just read, "your commander gets +2/+2."

I would cut all of the following Abzan Runemark, Angelic Destiny (this really doesn't give you much for 4 mana), Asha's Favor, Burrowing, Call To Serve, Cave Sense, Crown of Awe, Dust Corona, Eternal Warrior, Griffin Guide, Gryff's Boon, Inviolability (He already going to be the biggest thing around, why do you need this?), Murder Investigation (You have no support for these tokens.), Nimbus Wings, Serra's Embrace, Triclopean Sight, Vigilance, and Vow of Duty.

And here's what I recommend in their place:

Double strike: Battle Mastery, Runes of the Deus, and Duelist's Heritage. Literally the best effect you can Uril, since it will double all the other buffs you're giving him.

Massive Gains: Ethereal Armor, Eidolon of Countless Battles, and Helm of the Gods (not an aura but w/e). If you're going to have cards that just buff your commander, it might as well be for a LOT.

Extra Card Advantage: Sixth Sense, Keen Sense, and Snake Umbra. These guys are cheap extra draw factor.

Trample: Rancor (best), Armadillo Cloak, Unflinching Courage, and Eldrazi Conscription (maybe). After Protection, Trample is the most reliable way to get damage through in your colors.

Haste: Instill Energy, Messenger's Speed, Cartouche of Zeal, Fervor, and Fires of Yavimaya. Hasting a Voltron commander is the best way to get your beats in asap.

Extra protection for your commander: Shielded by Faith, Spider Umbra, Hyena Umbra, Felidar Umbra, Bear Umbra, and Flickerform. (Speaking of protection, Tajuru Preserver, Grand Abolisher, Vexing Shusher, Gaea's Herald, and Sigarda, Host of Herons are all good ways to make sure Uril can't be messed with.)

Also put in Spirit Loop. It's cheap and comes back if Uril leaves play somehow.

Other miscellaneous stuff:

Heliod's Pilgrim, Open the Armory, and Plea for Guidance are other tutors you could include. Open the Armory also grabs Grafted Exoskeleton and Helm of the Gods if you put them in, so I'd recommend it.

Nomad Mythmaker might make a useful recovery tool.

Mayael's Aria buffs Uril, gains you life, and can straight up win the game for you, nuff said.

If you can find the space, you could really use better board control to deal with problem permanents. Here are some good removal spells in your colors: Swords to Plowshares, Beast Within, Chaos Warp, Oblation, Krosan Grip, Oblivion Ring, Qasali Pridemage, Return to Dust, Hull Breach, Winds of Rath, Chandra's Ignition, Austere Command, and Wrath of God.

And that's all I can think of at the moment. Good luck.

As i said, vigilance certainly is useful and its good to have access to it. However, you currently run 8 cards that provide it, and several of them aren't great to begin with, but become just plain bad once you draw more than one vigilance granting effect. I would personally cut Vigilance, Eternal Warrior, Abzan Runemark and Triclopean Sight. In the posts above there are plenty of suggestions far superior to those cards, and you can add Heliod's Pilgrim as another tutor for Daybreak Coronet whenever you need vigilance. Once you're at it, Murder Investigation and Inviolability can also go, both effects are way too narrow to actually matter.

Okay, I've played around with this some more and am working out some ideas.

These comments are in reference to my own hexproof deck: Godzilla and trying to learn from Wahrghoul84's experiences and hopefully provide what little insight I can.

So, finally, in some way, I agree. You don't need Utopia Sprawl unless you're playing 3+ casting cost spells. Since you aren't it's probably more a hindrance than an advantage. So I bow to your wisdom here.

As far as types of enchantments, I've recently replaced Abzan Runemark and Leafcrown Dryad with Rancor, Hyena Umbra and Spider Umbra and noticed a marked improvement. My hand is now coming down into play where I used to sit on cards. So, again, I also bow to your wisdom here.

But here is where I'm diverging. So far, I prefer Aura Gnarlid, Kruphix's Insight and Ancestral Mask to Angelic Gift and Kor Skyfisher. I realize you get some speed and card drawing from Angelic Gift and Kor Skyfisher, but the hammer you can put down mid-game with Aura Gnarlid, Kruphix's Insight and Ancestral Mask is immense. And if you can couple an Aura Gnarlid with an umbra, it gets really ugly for your opponent fast.

It was pretty common in my playtesting to be attacking with a 1/1 hexproof, a 10/10 hexproof and an 8/8 unblockable umbra'd Aura Gnarlid on turn five. But that was only all possible with some combination of Aura Gnarlid, Kruphix's Insight and Ancestral Mask. But I admit, this is probably the key difference between a full aggro hexproof deck and a mid-game hexproof deck. And for now, I am willing to settle for the latter.

So that said, I get the idea behind Kor Skyfisher to attack quickly, but I struggle with why you're playing Angelic Gift. You can use it to draw a card. Fine. But flying doesn't really get you anything on it's own and since your're not playing Ancestral Mask, Aura Gnarlid or Yavimaya Enchantress your enchantment count isn't critical. It would seem like for just drawing a card, Frog Tongue is better because it's cheaper.

Overall, I feel like you'd be better off just playing a good enchantment. I feel like Briar Shield, Lunarch Mantle, Favor of the Overbeing, Glaring Aegis or Sun Clasp are better options. So far you've had far better ideas than mine, so what am I missing here?
