You can see it in your opponents' eyes. The ramping has stopped. Turn four, five, maybe six begins, and they peer across the battlefield to assess who are the destined winners and who are the inevitable losers. Who they need to eliminate to get to the top. They've collectively agreed that YOU are the archenemy, and they've got to do something about you as soon as possible.

It's far too late for that.

Behold the budget Bond Villain (TM) Damia, Sage of Stone. The gameplan is as follows: We want to rattlesnake, hard. We need to ascend in mana as soon as turn one and begin the lockdown as soon as turn three. We want to completely liquidate our opening hand specifically to reach 7 mana, which means we need the cheapest, fastest mana... even if it is delayed, with no regard to card disadvantage. That's the gambit: allow Damia to refill your hand and the game is over for them, it's all just a matter of time.

Once Damia is on the field, there's just no time to waste: give her shroud or hexproof at the earliest possible moment. She makes up for her cost the first time you refill, but the turns beyond are where we really make a killing. Spend your seven as fully as possible before each of your upkeeps by casting, foretelling, or discarding. This will maximize the amount of cards Damia can draw us, which is important both because we aim to play several game-ending, standalone, multi-faceted threats as well as need guaranteed interaction to support such a lofty goal. Deathtouchers of every variety punish anyone from stomping us out, because that is how we fold.
