Curator's Ward Discussion

xhuggels on Arcades, the Standard Wall

Curator's Ward might be another way to protect Arcades or traxos, and even if it fails you still draw 2 cards off it.

Pikobyte on Muldrotha, the „Fun“ in „Funeral“

Thanks Cluracin. Sylvan Safekeeper is sitting here and waiting for action. Tested that longer ago and it’s a good card in this deck. It just had some weakness for things like Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Night of Souls' Betrayal or Goblin Sharpshooter. I endet up cutting it for a Diplomatic Immunity. I would definitely re-add Sylvan Safekeeper as soon as I find a card to cut. For now there is just no card I can think of cutting. Maybe if some time passes and my meta does change.

And the deck is not that much depending on Muldrotha as you might think. She makes the deck much better for sure, but you can win games without having your commander ever cast. It is also not that uncommon to have more protection than needed, ending up with Curator's Ward on a Grave Pact.

Cipher_8 on UW Standard Mill (work in progress)

I'm working on a post-rotation Mill deck based around Psychic Corrosion and Patient Rebuilding.

Still gotta see what Ravnica brings us...

Obviously we won't have anything but Ixalan on up, so Amonkhet and Kaladesh cards are not to be included. I'm waiting for some of them juicy Ravnica spoilers to be revealed though because if the deck is going to work we need something from that set to fit it. Especially more draw triggerers.

Mystic Archaeologist is nice.

Surge Mare / Wall of Mist / Shore Keeper / Tempest Djinn so far are my wall/defenders to keep us in play long enough to mill.

Been contemplating The Immortal Sun but at 6 mana it's kind of steep for what is basically a Dictate of Kruphix effect for this deck. It's obviously a powerful card though and does wonders against decks utilizing planeswalkers though it's vulnerable to eat removal right away.

Curator's Ward gives your Enchantments some removal protection. Not used for the draw clause but if you get use out of it all the better.

So far if you're not playing some form of hybrid control mill it's just not going to work. Play corrosion/rebuilding combo, kill everything or control everything, and draw your way to victory. Not enough draw triggers currently though.

And as for control mill that's not what I want to do though. I want a mill deck not a control deck with secondary mill. You end up doing more controlling than milling and if you’re going to focus on control then you would be better served to just have a beater creature finish them off the normal way.

Other Ideas I've contemplated for this mill deck;

Riverwise Augur + Naban, Dean of Iteration is a nice little ETB combo. Draw 6 cards mill 12 off their deck. Set up your next 4 draws. Allows you to get more from other ETB effects too paired with a Naban. Like Skyscanner and Silvergill Adept. Especially if using cards like Siren's Ruse to bounce and repeat the ETB effects. This is not very good but it is a different route to go.

Howling Golem

Fleet Swallower

Nezahal, Primal Tide punishes them for playing any Noncreature spell. It's costly though and I don't see it fitting in our curve.

Curator's Ward could enchant/protect PERMANENTS. I could think of quite a few permanents that that would be nice for.

Hi there, good primer here

if you dont mind, i need to ask a couple of things since i dont have most old stuffs or higher priced one due to being rather new ^^ What are your opinion about Adding Monastery Siege ,Altered Ego and Curator's Ward

if anything i'd appreciate any input for alternatives that can be found in more recent set, started playing commander recently, but have played MtG in general since RTR block ^^

Murphy77 on Traxos' Thopters

The way that I read it, Blink of an Eye, Curator's Ward and Short Sword are all rather weak in this deck and If you particularly want to play them, move them into the sideboard. Ornithopter is an artifact with 0 mana cost that also works as a chump-blocker. Essence Scatter provides some early disruption. Mechanized Production can give you another win condition. I would round out the sideboard with Negate and Unwind. If you have a few Karn, Scion of Urza lying around, they would fit right in, but I wouldn't buy them specially at their current list price.

Ralatorr on Estrid Chain Veil

Have you considered auras that go onto The Chain Veil like Power Artifact, Curator's Ward, Living Artifact, Relic Ward, Teferi's Curse, or Viridian Harvest just to name a few.

Her ability is to untap all enchanted permanents so if you can cheese out an enchantment onto the chain veil she will be able to untap it. While yes she can "make" one with the -1 ability to generate a mask, her -7 mills for 7 and puts all enchantments back into play. You should have been going plus on mana at that point to recast her and from there you can with with Laboratory Maniac or Walking Ballista using cards like Crop Sigil or Holistic Wisdom or any other gy recursion spell to get them to hand and win when you cast them

pjmistry on Artifact Midrange (POST ROTATION READY) BUDGET

I too have been trying to build an artifact deck and love the fact you're using Phylactery Lich! What are your thoughts on Phyrexian Scriptures and Curator's Ward? If it wasn't rotating out, I would also mention Padeem, Consul of Innovation. LOL Out of curiosity have you worked on a non-budget friendly version of this deck concept? If so, do you have it posted elsewhere in this Site? Would truly love to see your thoughts on that and use something like this at the next Store Championship! Thank you.
