Curator's Ward Discussion
Modern is such a fast format, lower mana cost is often worth more than raw power. For example, rather than Curator's Ward I would recommend something like Vines of Vastwood. Furthermore, low cost removal is quite common in modern, like Path to Exile, Terminate, and now Assassin's Trophy. Therefore, big mana creatures like Kalonian Hydra are not as effective as a game ender because you have to untap with it. If you are going to spend 3 or more mana on something in modern, it better do something for you asap. You already have infinite combos to win the game, you may not even need to have a game closer like the hydra. Lastly, I think Kalonian Tusker is the most reasonable card here. It is a good sized creature for it's cost. However, this is most effective in a strictly linearly aggressive deck rather than a combo deck like this. So if you are using it for blocking, or stalling the game out, maybe something like Kitchen Finks would defiantly do that.

Kaneki___Ken I assume most of the base card draw (I don't know the precon, but am assuming some of it is normal, non-enchantment-based card draw) and ramp is useable, all of the stuff you don't think will make a big difference. With Arixmethes, cheap ramp and card draw, Elvish Mystic/Brainstorm type effects, that can get you to Arixmethes and to get him the counters are what matters for a number of the cards.
The rest of the deck should be protecting him, think Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots, and Curator's Ward, then to double his power, with effects like Inquisitor's Flail, Fireshrieker, Grappling Hook, and Grafted Exoskeleton.

I really like the idea. I am curious about some of your card choices though. Curator's Ward, Kalonian Tusker, and Kalonian Hydra are all cards that dont seem to fit the rest of the deck. What was your motivation for putting them in?

It doesn’t look that bad. My Muldrotha deck draws a lot of hate and usually Muldrotha is target of spot removal. Try to avoid that with some more protection to keep your engine going. Diplomatic Immunity and Curator's Ward are some cheap and effective ways to deal with that problem.
You run a lot of ramp too, try to cut some of it for some more pieces to control the board. Night Incarnate is a nice sweeper for token decks or stuff like goblins or elves while it doesn’t hurt you much.
A bit more pricey but very effective way to stop aggro decks is a Spore Frog. It’s really a pain to deal with if you rely on combat damage to win.
Hope this helps you a bit

Are you still maintaining this one? Pretty sure Curator's Ward fits your criteria

in my original build i played Shalai, Voice of Plenty turn 5, and kept 1 open for dive down . the turn after that i would put Curator's Ward on her! its insane how quickly every card aggro decks have become dead weight once you properly defend her.
i have no idea how viable these cards are in commander, but i also used stuff like Board the Weatherlight and Memorial to Unity to find historic spells. having 2 copies each in a 60 card deck is way different than having 1 copy in a 100 card deck though.

Also some cards that have value when dying have proved to be very helpful. Night Incarnate is a great card to punish token decks. Aura Thief and Mindslicer both offer incredible value. The thief steals all enchantments ruining pillow fort and mana doubling strategies for your opponents. The mindslicer is the bane of every control and combo deck and isn’t that big of a thing for you. Both of them are nice rattlesnakes against boardwipes too. Finally Mesmeric Orb is broken af here. Fills your grave and annoys your opponents to death. Hedron Crab would be a nice option to mill yourself or to nullify top of library tutors end of turn if you keep a fetchland open for that case.
Actually I can’t see a real weakness in your deck, but if you like a more mean and control-type of playstyle you may like the suggestions.

I usually wait for 5 manna and keep a dive down up before i play Shalai, Voice of Plenty or Arcades, the Strategist in this version of the deck. Another sweet play is to put Curator's Ward on Shalai, Voice of Plenty, then the only targetable thing becomes the ward. Ive stopped red decks dead on their feet with under 3 life remaining more than once.
I agree with you though, and the deck im currently running i dropped the cards that were wonky. Board the Weatherlight was replaced with a copy of Anticipate and Memorial to Unity, with a slight change in the mana-base. The card found me nothing like 1/3 of the time. And if you are struggling to get your green sources it doesnt help you at all. tetsuko umizawa, fugitive got kicked out because, he is only good in a very specific scenario, and he does to Lightning Strike. Replace him with another copy of dive down and a counterspell. Curator's Ward was also taken out for a copy of Conclave Tribunal and Ixalan's Binding. Overall there are more answers, which made games last longer.
Im currently working on more changes, swapping out Traxos, Scourge of Kroog for Zahid, Djinn of the Lamp, as traxos isnt a turn 5 blocker if i need one, and if you cant untap him, its hard to attack at all.
