Sire of Stagnation Discussion

@[email protected]_only Glad that you like it. You COULD include All Is Dust is your sideboard, but seeing that you have around ANNIHILATOR 50, I don't think that is is necessary. And While World Breaker , Oblivion Sower and Sire of Stagnation are all powerful cards, they don't have the pure smashing power of Desolation Twin or Void Winnower and that is what im really looking for in my sideboard. I also don't need to include Sire of Stagnation because I have Kozilek, Butcher of Truth who automatically refill my hand regardless of how many cards I had in there prior. While I looked at Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger , Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre has more potential for any possible doomsday devices. Shuffling my graveyard into my library is just an added security feature(just in case. You'll never know what you'll com across). He also has Annihilator which is always a plus.

Love the deck! very similar to my old original zendikar block deck, but with a modern update.

not sure if this has been brought up or not, but All Is Dust is technically an eldrazi. coupled with It That Betrays , this can seriously cripple an opponent.

I think the sideboard for that old deck was 3 all is dust (redundancy against counter magic), 2 Emrakul, 2 Ulamog, 2 It that Betrays, and 2 Kosilek, and then a bunch of other smashers. with the newer eldrazi, World Breaker is a decent optional addition, as are Oblivion Sower , Sire of Stagnation (because if you don't need to spend mana, might as well get some card draw in there), and 1 Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger as additional removal

Thanks for the comment and helpful suggestion, SufferFromEDHD! I love your list, especially the walkers and Sire of Stagnation .

I will get Bitter Ordeal in there one day :) Working on the most budget-y list I can right now. Looking forward to testing this one. I suspect that in the local playgroup it will be left alone as a non-threat until the first Kaya, Orzhov Usurper , kill; then it will be housed out of the game by people with better cards. LOL. Should be a lot of fun.

Here are some big bomby cards you could try getting/using. most of them have to do with milling.

Fleet Swallower , Sire of Stagnation , Mind Grind , Mindcrank , Traumatize , Army of the Damned , Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker ,

Windfall , Whispering Madness , Comet Storm

Okay well I'll just suggest things and you can just discard any ideas you think are too degenerate. First things first, if the deck is focused on blinking ETB creatures for value, card advantage and board control I would run Aminatou, the Fateshifter as your Commander over Merieke. My reasoning for this is you want to be blinking things as often as possible and having a blink outlet in your Command Zone will help you do this reliably and consistently. She does have the drawback that her blink ability is a -1 but blinking card draw or creature elimination will help you advance the game and your position in it so you can comfortably spend a turn +1 ing her or, if need be you can blink her to reset her Loyalty to 3. If you aren't going to change Commanders she absolutely should be in the 99 along with Venser, the Sojourner

Second. You absolutely need to be running Felidar Guardian . It has good toughness for early game blocks and combos infinitely with Aminatou and Restoration Angel + several other cards Soul Warden Vela the Night-Clad Genesis Chamber and Altar of the Brood (the last of which can be fetched with Trinket Mage ). Blink can be a very durdley strategy where you have control of the game but can't finish. Infinite life, damage, creatures or mill is an excellent game ender. (Yes, I know gaining infinite life will not win you the game, but it will make people scoop. Admittedly I don't run Soul Warden in my own deck as I play the Aminatou/ Restoration Angel + Felidar Guardian combo exclusively to end games.

Another auto-include is Panharmonicon . This card is key to blink strategies. Giving you a double does of ETB abilities every time. Drawing four cards instead of two, killing two creatures instead of one, untapping ten lands instead of five. The list goes on. It also goes infinite with Rest Angel and Aminatou + Felidar giving you unlimited ETBs. (In my own deck I have drawn my entire library while also giving myself infinite mana many times)

My final suggestions for things you should include are a trio of ETB creatures. Meteor Golem and Angel of Despair both take out non-creature threats (the angel even takes out lands). Another suggestion, this one a STRONG suggestion is Phyrexian Delver . Not only does he bring your guys back from the grave (triggering their ETBs while he does it) he himself can be blinked to do it over and over again (for life, admittedly. A more than fair trade off). My final include suggestion would be Rune-Scarred Demon . Blinkable tutoring is just as strong as it sounds and while he is 2 more than Sidisi you're also not saccing a creature to do it. I'm not suggesting playing him instead of Sidisi. I'm suggesting playing him in addition to Sidisi. More tutors = better consistency.

Finally, and this suggestion is going to be the most painful to enact, is to lose the cards that are off theme. The slots taken up by cards like Harvester of Souls , Sire of Stagnation Stunt Double Illusionist's Bracers could be more ETB cards, more card draw, more board wipes, more targeted removal. I have more detailed, nitpicky suggestions but it's late and this post is already long (and it's mostly just suggesting upgrades of cards you're already playing).

SynergyBuild: I'm a huge fan of Delaying Shield + Solemnity . Fun times ;)

Beyond that, I am a fan of Fiery Justice in cEDH-ish metas for decks that can't run Fire Covenant , but the loss of instant-speed is a pain :(

I hadn't thought of using Induced Amnesia in Ertai, the Corrupted , that's cute XD and I think that both Cruel Sadist and Sire of Stagnation are awesome designs (I've even milled someone to death using the latter), but I don't currently have a deck for them...

Also, welcome new members _Delta_ and hkhssweiss! I'm not sure why we're getting so much attention recently, but I'm not complaining - more people make this page more vibrant :)

Been really interested in finding corner-case rares, Fiery Justice for example, as a weird worse Fire Covenant , one of, if not the best cEDH board wipe, Mind Twist as a great legal commander card, with the downside of only stopping one opponent, Ertai, the Corrupted as a cool commander with Hatching Plans or Induced Amnesia to get massive card advantage, Sire of Stagnation as a second Consecrated Sphinx ish effect, and Cruel Sadist as really cheap reusable removal or a big threat.

Otherwise, I have just seen some really powerful effects that save your life like Delaying Shield and Soul Echo , which together let you live forever, but alone still save you a turn worst case scenario. They are both great with infinite mana too.
