XYRIS, THE WRITHING STORM

Hello this is a deck focused on our commander, it's a casual deck, not trying to be a cEDH deck. The main idea is to cast our Big Boy and get a bunch of snakes with wheel effects or combat damage. Once we have a lot of little snakes, we'll make tons of value with enchanments which pump our whole team or let us do direct damage to our opponents.

Update 7.4.2020 utm: Show

The deck is a little more focused than yesterday, I have removed a lot of cards and the main themes are clear now.

1. Keep your commander alive

2. Spells to draw a lot of cards and wheel the opponents' hand, so no card advantage for them

3. Punish card draw and discard effects of the wheels with damage

4. Get value of tokens by combat hymns, nº of tokens = dmg, sac tokens

5. Plan B: creatures who get pumped or do dmg in relation with draw and wheel effects

I'll keep removing less useful cards next day. I keep myself away from expensive cards life Doubling Season and similars, they'll in the sideboard in case you want to use it :)

Update 8.4.2020 utm: Show

The deck is now close to be ended, a lot of repetitive effects were removed, extra wheels, extra combat pump, extra mana rocks. We are 10 cards left to go. Any idea which should I remove?

Update 9.4.2020 utm: Show

1. Outpost Siege is out, targets just one player

2. Combat Celebrant is out, depends on be able of attack and the cmcm difference with othe extra-combat cards it is little

3. Grand Warlord Radha is out, this one was hard 'cause you can attack, do the damage and add mana, but it depends on a solid boardstate with creatures with haste or last turn creatures. The same happens to Cryptolith Rite or Druids' Repository, but they are cheaper (cmc) and less weak to removal.

4. I am doubtful about Descent of the Dragons, 6cmc for transform most of my snakes into 4/4 dragons that could be blown out in one table cycle? or a pseudo-boardwipe that gives a lot of power to my opponent and a way to effectively block my commander...? I think it's out!

5. Molten Psyche it's been a hard choice, but thinking carefully...maximum maximum damage I gonna do with this is about 14 for about 8 mana, 1 wheel and Molten Psyche. That t is the best case scenario, but I need three artifacts too...bufff, too many conditions, so it is out!

6. I was between Font of Mythos and Anvil of Bogardan, finally i took out the 1st one because does not give card advantage to my opponents, even I get the double of 1/1s (etb damg, T dmg and sac dmg).

7. Like this is a 4 players game, I cut down Massive Raid cause just targets 1 player, as the niv-mizzets but Massive Raid relays on some draw spell and then keep the snakes alive and cast it.

8. I thought Nadir Kraken was a great add but, even it is a mana sink, There's something undefined about it that does not fit perfectly. Maybe the need of mspend more and more mana on it just to get a 1/1 which depends on other cards to be really effective.

I introduce Alhammarret's Archive instead of Geth's Grimoire, it's less sinergistic with some specific cards, but interacts with much more

I just saw another deck of Xyris, the Writhing Storm called "on the planeswalker" kind of mimicking this deck, I supposed with out knowing, and said to myself, let's do a last update. Once you take distance from a deck you can see perfectly and more clearly which cards fit in and which not. This time I have pulled off Door of Destinies 'cause need creatures to be cast; Fecundity, wheel effects are better; Parallel Lives because it's to expensive and Torbrad, Thane of the red fell because snakes aren't red. I put in more Overrun effects, Spark Double and Scourge of the Throne
