Barkchannel Pathway Discussion

Thanks depthcharge2, I appreciate it. Glad to hear you were able to budgetize this in a way that works for you. Misty Rainforest can be approximated easily enough; Barkchannel Pathway  Flip, Hinterland Harbor or Botanical Sanctum should all be fine, or else Thornwood Falls if you’re looking for the cheapest option available.

Surgical Extraction is harder to replace; there’s the financially cheaper Extirpate, but then you’d need to splash black. I’d probably opt for a different card entirely.

Kumena's Speaker should come out for Phantasmal Image to copy your P/T buffs. the counter spells don't really fit in an aggro deck. you'll be casting creatures every turn and not have mana up to counter with, and you'll empty your hand too fast to play Force of Negation for free. instead you can use Collected Company to help swarm the field and Aquitect's Will to force an island onto your opponent before swinging with islandwalk. Tide Shaper can come out for 4 Misty Rainforest and -3 Merrow Reejerey and -1 Svyelun of Sea and Sky for +2 Kopala, Warden of Waves and the 4th copies of Collected Company / Aquitect's Will (after taking out the counter spells for the first 3 copies of each).

also no need to worry about Boil at all. nobody really uses that anymore, so you're free to just use the better lands like Misty Rainforest and Breeding Pool . Barkchannel Pathway  Flip would also be a good addition.

A Forest was swapped out for the new Barkchannel Pathway  Flip, a straight upgrade. Feed the Pack is one of my favorite cards, but it can be very feast or famine. Its replacement, Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider , has a much higher floor while still being very threatening. Finally, Prime Speaker Zegana has been replaced by Toski, Bearer of Secrets . Both are great at drawing cards, but Toski's indestructibility and lower mana cost edge give him the edge. I really want my card draw to be cheaper.

My thought with Ominous Seas was maybe using MDFC lands. Such as Barkchannel Pathway  Flip and/or Savannah .

Simply because you could trigger them in two to four turns with those spells.

Like two or three off them in your deck could work wonders. Mainly since your deck isn't a a completely locked out combo deck.

Again, I love your deck. I

When I give advise... I read through the deck description. Then I read through the cards. Then... ...then I ad suggestions from my card knowledge. I am constantly trying to being informed how to this or that could help and I love the criticism because my heart is in Standard. I'm trying to work my aged decks into Modern.

Personally I'll never be able to play in Legacy. Can't afford it.

I'll always try to help everyone get a better deck.

(side note note, I i miss Ice Age and Innistrad)

Hey, nice Cloudstone Curio :)

Dual lands that can ETB untapped are pretty important for color fixing with three color Animar to be able to cast him consistently turn three. Consider more dual lands in place of basic lands especially Mountains? Dual lands that can make green mana for a turn one green mana dork should be priority.

Some options within your budget to consider, ordered from less expensive to more:

20 basic lands is too much for three colors and you're not trying to take advantage of Blood Moon / Back to Basics . You want to be able to consistently cast a green one drop mana dork, but that's going to be a problem with almost the same number of Forests than Mountains and Islands. My advice is cut Mountains and Islands for dual lands that can make these colors.

Cut more Mountains than Islands because overall red is less important than blue. You really only need red for Animar thus let dual lands and other nonland sources provide red mana and not basic lands. The more Mountains you can cut for dual lands the more consistent getting green and blue will be while not sacrificing red.

Good luck with your deck.
