Hey there!

I would go for slimming down each category, rather than just creatures/control.

Some low drop creatures can be worth running in the right context, but some of yours can probably be cut: turns 1-2, I'd much rather be casting things like Ponder or Brainstorm to prepare for future turns than drop a Faerie Seer which isn't terribly impactful. Some of your low CMC creatures can stay, like Cloudfin Raptor which is an absolute beast, but if I were you I'd just playtest some of them and see what you like best.

There's no such thing as "too much card draw", as long as you don't deck out or die due to not doing other things that actually win you the game. A good thing to do in blue is make sure your card draw spells are instants, so you can hold up mana for a counterspell if you need it, then if your opponents change phases to their end steps without doing anything crazy, you can cast a Brainstorm / Deliberate.

Draining Whelk can be really good, depending on what you counter. It's a 6 drop Counterspell & 4/4 + flier in one card slot. Only downside is the steep CMC.

Some things you could trim: Wingspan Mentor - a bit slow and win-more: if you have enough creatures out for its counters to matter, you were probably dealing good damage without it.

Charix, the Raging Isle - same CMC as your commander, so you'll probably want to cast your commander instead 9/10 times you draw it.

Floodgate - as above, also you have better control options.

Sludge Monster - slow, not quite a fit here.

Thryx, the Sudden Storm - a bit better of a fit, but still not quite worth it.

Windstorm Drake - small toughness boost is not worth the cost.

Sphinx of Jwar Isle - sometimes it can be nice to know what's coming up next in your library, but this isn't worth the cost and top deck manipulation doesn't really have much synergy here.

You could cut a few of your worse counterspells: Intervene, Crypsis, Nullify.

lastly, with your average CMC, I think you could comfortably cut 4-5 Islands.

Hope that helps. Sorry for the wall of text, but I wanted to explain some of my reasoning on cuts and such.

GL, HF!

Probably something like Nullify. It's very specific for how hard costed it is.

I would watch out for things like Melira, Sylvok Outcast on other people's sideboards. You might need some creature removal for that or else your playing a 20 life game instead of a 10 poison counter one. Nullify and Spell Snare can work just fine for you.

Nullify is strictly worse than Counterspell. Looks neat otherwise!

I would say blue and red, because you could take out any bothersome creatures with Counterspell or Cancel or since there are a lot of creatures, maybe Nullify and for when you get attacked AEtherize and AEtherspouts. Sleep is good too. Now the red would be damage spells like Lightning Bolt or Shock or Mugging. You could put in some heavy hitter damage too like Comet Storm. Red is also good because it has some big creatures, like Hamletback Goliath. For blue creatures, I would put a few Talrand, Sky Summoner so you get a bunch of drakes, and you can kill him from the air. Hope you can beat him!

i would suggest some counter spells, because you dont have many, like maybe add a Mana Leak, Negate and Nullify, other then that, i love this deck.

odiffido on Midrange Izzet Magic? Oh yes!

this is a pretty good deck, I may suggest a few more counters such as Negate or Nullify. also maybe bring your god up to a two of, that might help a bit, and add some more Lightning Bolt. thats all i got.

JaiJackson, you are welcome my friend. Thought I'd touch back in and see how your deck's been. :)

Undergrowth Champion is a heavy hitter in any landfall deck running green, and should be considered running at least 3. He'll win you games. Additionally, I'm not sure exactly how competitive you're wanting to go with this deck (per your previous comment, as I'm not wanting you to lose friends), but I would think about replacing the Retreat to Kazandu in the main for Retreat to Coralhelm. As seshiro_of_the_orochi pointed out, it's an infinite combo. While it isn't the deck's main focus, it's a brilliant touch and it's unexpected. Infinite landfall triggers on many of your cards provide infinite lethal combat damage, infinite creature tokens, infinite mana (which will assist in activating your Moonfolk abilities an infinite number of times), and/or the ability to gain control of an infinite number of creatures. I run an infinite landfall deck of my own, check it out if you ever feel the curiosity! (Avalanche (Turn 3 Infinite Landfall/Infinite Mill))

I would agree that your deck doesn't really need Amulet of Vigor. I feel a similar way about Invisible Stalker and Ambush Viper. (Additionally Roil Elemental, but for a different reason I'll touch upon in a moment.)

  • Invisible Stalker seems appealing as it's unblockable damage, but it's underwhelming in this deck if it's not equipped. It's a slow clock otherwise, and its slot may want to be considered for something more suited for the deck's purpose.
  • I've never seen the appeal of Ambush Viper. Flash is nice, but it can't hit things that fly and its toughness ensures it can't even beat out 1/X's. I've always preferred Deadly Recluse for my deathtouch deterrent for these reasons, but I'm not saying it's a better card. Since you're running a deck that has blue, perhaps consider a counter spell instead? Cards that can cost just as much (if not less) to cast and be just as beneficial (if not more) include Spell Pierce/Stubborn Denial or Mana Leak/Condescend/Essence Scatter/Nullify.
  • Roil Elemental seems like a fun card and can help swing matches, however I hate how high its CMC is for only having 2 toughness. Your 6 mana investment can be taken down by cards as cheap as 1 mana (such as Shock), and it feels like a waste. (Especially since its ability doesn't even last after it leaves the field.) I would take it out for something else more beneficial as well, even though it technically fits the deck's theme.

Hope this is helpful in any way! In addition to my plans for a Bant Avalanche build, I do still tend to a GU landfall deck of my own. (Not going to link that one as well because I already feel greedy posting the first one, but it's on my page if you're curious.) Perhaps our decks can assist each other's as they grow and develop.
