Maybeboard

This was originally a pet project that has very quickly found it's way to being a favorite among about 13 decks.

Unlike other lines of play that others may attempt with Golos, this deck seeks to use him as an additional resource, but not a necessary piece that the deck revolves around. The plan is to fetch Cascading Cataracts first to enable indestructible, colored mana production for his ability, and subsequent utility lands upon recast if necessary. Outside of bricking with lands with his ability, he's a solid late game value engine that can get 1-3 of my non-land cards off the top and into play.

There's plenty of ramp, control and removal here. Some of it might be expensive, but we're sticking with a colorless build, so we have to take what we can get.

The deck has been sorted by categories by default to give a better understanding of the role each card plays for the deck.

Despite being "Five-Color", it's really a colorless deck. There is a single "Blue" spell in the deck in Phyrexian Metamorph. Realistically, without Chromatic Lantern or Mox Opal out, there's zero chance I'll be paying the blue mana as part of it's casting cost. 3 mana and pay 2 life for a Sculpting Steel that can also copy creatures? Sign me up.

Still hoping they'll print a colorless means to search up an artifact that doesn't require additional resources... Sort of like a Scour from Existence, but for artifacts or colorless cards and putting them to hand. Kuldotha Forgemaster is a terrible rate and Beseech the Queen is the closest thing to a colorless tutor. Technically Fabricate, Whir of Invention and Enlightened Tutor could do it, but that would require switching around my mana base to accommodate them and the colorless nature of the deck has been it's strength and the driving principle behind it from day 1.

Mishra's Workshop to replace Temple of the False God, one day if/when I can afford it...

Gameplan: Win by dumping the deck, protecting my board, and using Eldrazi and/or the artifact "Rube Goldberg Machine"

While I'm sure that I could go on and on about how Golos was actually a boon for the format, all dialogue that I've seen on Discord/online has been mostly a 50/50 split of those in favor of or against the banning. This deck is a testament to how versatile he could be, and that it wasn't an excuse to run 5-color broken nonsense.

The current Iteration (decklist as is), short of Urza's Saga (which I've yet to obtain), is perfect in my eyes. It's on the colorless value train and Golos takes it up to another level to abuse the mana.

Is the deck a Rube Goldberg machine with various interchangeable parts? Yes.

Is the deck a bit of a masturbation exercise? Maybe >.>

Does the deck win the the same way often enough to be considered boring or a one-trick-pony? Absolutely not.

It's honestly a shame, because this was and still is my favorite deck. Much love and time was put into getting it where it is today. Firm stance that the RC made a shit decision on this one, especially when taking a game ruining card like Worldfire off the banned list. The format hasn't changed enough that a card that had <2 weeks of legality for good reason, should be removed. Sets a bad precedent, especially when they already said in the article that they've talked to WotC and that they don't expect more Golos-like cards as a result.

In a format with a horrendous amount of tutors, 2 and 3 card combos, and commanders that are oppressive if left alone/unchecked, Golos was far from the worst offender. The Rules Committee "sending a message" or whatever is pointless. WotC is pumping out more commander product annually than ever before - Golos was likely to be a flavor of the year or whatever until the next thing that people running 5-color-good-stuff wanted to try... Ex. Atraxa - I know 1-2 people that still run her, and she's ridiculous.

I have half a mind to cut some of the colorless lands and 5 color mana rocks to make it a Urza, Lord High Artificer deck out of spite. He's incredibly stupid, and the deck would be easier to pilot with a single color and gives more artifact-centric cards in blue.
