~ Sisay's Weatherlight Crew ~

This is a quick primer outlining my Legend deck called "Sisay's Weatherlight Crew" with Sisay, Weatherlight Captain.
Every 10-20 matches or so, I update the deck from ideas I've had while playing, and track statistics from the games per "season" as a fun little project. Enjoy!

[THE COMMANDER] This deck is piloted by Sisay. Her role as a Weatherlight captain, as compared to otherwise, enables a quicker and wider recruitment of her legendary crew and permanents.

[THE GAME PLAN] The deck wants to utilize Sisay’s tutor ability, first to find silver-bullet answers to whatever condition the battlefield presents, second to deliver a chain of near-invincible power.

[THE POWER LEVEL] On a traditional power level scale, I would rate this deck at 8 out of 10. The deck is consistent and extremely powerful, but does suffer from slow starts and continuous effects like Grave Pact or Dictate of Erebos.

[THE PHILOSOPHY] The main idea behind the deck is to push the limits of a toolbox deck. Legendary permanents are legendary due to their unique and powerful effects, so they should theoretically be well-suited for the job. The fact that they can enter the battlefield as a resolved ability instead of displaying themselves on the stack virtually makes the immune to traditional counterspells, which ultimately makes for more difficult interaction.

[EARLY GAME] For the first few turns, ramp and play legendary permanents until Sisay is a 4/4. Do this at roughly the same pace as the table to not draw unwanted attention – Sisay will be perceived as scary due to her unpredictability.

[MID GAME] Once Sisay is out together with 6-7 lands, tutor for utility. The exact targets will depend on the board state, but the table in Chapter III – Mastery below can give insight depending on need. Do this until Sisay is a 6/6, then start looking for Seedborn Muse or Awakening.

[LATE GAME] Once there is access to Seedborn Muse or Awakening, tutor for power. Given a turn rotation, tutor for:

Turn 1: Shalai, Voice of Plenty.

Turn 2: Nikya of the Old Ways.

Turn 3: Samut, Voice of Dissent + Jegantha, the Wellspring. Use Jegantha, then untap it with Samut and use it again to find a Minamo, School at Water's Edge and Heroes' Podium. Untap Jegantha with Minamo, and use it yet again to find Piru, the Volatile.

Turn 4: Back on your turn, sacrifice Piru to clear the board of small blockers. Then, tutor 5 (!) times for Aurelia, the Warleader, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Rakdos, Lord of Riots, Ruric Thar, the Unbowed and Sigarda, Host of Herons.

With Sisay + Shalai + Nikya + Samut + Jegantha + Heroes' Podium + Aurelia + Elesh Norn + Rakdos + Ruric Thar + Sigarda, the board is facing around 120 damage on the first combat, and about 150 damage on the second. Should this not be enough overkill, use Jegantha and Samut in the second combat phase to get Sakashima the Impostor, cloning Elesh Norn, and Marisi, Breaker of the Coil for ever more damage.

Alternatively, tutor for Helm of the Host and get infinite attacks with Aurelia. All up to the pilot.

On its own, the deck usually presents a game-winning scenario by turn 6-8. Should Sisay face a lot of removals, or if Grave Pact-effects prevents a gradual buildup of legendaries, this estimate will be delayed with several turns.

As far as legendaries go, Selvala, Heart of the Wilds and God-Eternal Rhonas are two very promising candidates to join the crew. Sidisi, Undead Vizier is a super versatile include and was in the deck previously, but was lost at some stage.

Other than that, Bloom Tender will likely be included down the line, as well as Battlebond lands.

As the deck got more fine-tuned and as I got more experience with it, the win percentage increased to almost 50% - very high for a healthy meta. I realized the deck wasn’t as janky as I first thought.

Cards switched after the season Show

Won 3 of 11 multiplayer games, resulting in a 27% win percentage.

This deck could manage a lot of tough situations, but too often got out-valued or mass destroyed in some different ways. Rakdos, Lord of Riots and Aurelia, the Warleader together with Whip of Erebos could definitely turn a game, but again, proved a bit too vulnerable.
