"Wrath is no vice when inflicted upon the deserving."

Hello! This is my Angel Tribal EDH Deck. I used to have "the best" white cards but, while powerful, it failed to live up to being a "SMITE THE UNWORTHY" deck. Overall this deck is for fun, no "try harding" here. (But winning is always fun). White is my favorite color and I love hearing suggestions.

Compare/Contrast - Reasons why some cards are used over others:

Active vs. Passive Commanders:

Why Avacyn, Guardian Angel? There are many other "op" angel commanders to use so why pick something mediocre compared to Avacyn, Angel of Hope? It's all about having an active or passive play style. I used to run Avacyn, Angel of Hope with lots of ramp, tutor for Worldslayer - gg. While fun (because I won) every game I played felt the same. I also used to run Linvala, Keeper of Silence as my commander because my play group had a lot of active creature combos. Those games I only brought out my commander as a response - and some games I never brought her out.

The reason I have come to love Avacyn, Guardian Angel is her ability to play politics. Not only does this maker her an active commander, her ability allow you to target ANY creature and ANY player. Make friends. Make enemies.

Compared to ever other Mono-White-Legendary-Angel out there Avacyn, Guardian Angel is a commander who can come out at any time without being "annoyingly op" like Iona, Shield of Emeria, Akroma, Angel of Wrath or Reya Dawnbringer.

Mana Dump:

UNUSED MANA IS WAISTED MANA!!1!

As a Mono-White player it is important to you, more than anyone, to use all your mana effectively.

For starters, Avacyn, Guardian Angel has a built-in mana dump for early or late game use. Overall white sucks when it comes to having interactions during opponents turns. So having THE ONLY Mono-White-Legendary-Angel who can DO THINGS during opponents turns is sweet.

White Counter Spells:

No one sees them coming. All the more satisfying when you snipe a juicy card. The three best ones are Dawn Charm, Mana Tithe, and Rebuff the Wicked. The other white counter spells are either limited in their counter potential or not real counter spells.

Equinox, maybe if your playing against a "F-You" Red Deck?

Frontline Medic, not an angel.

Illumination, limiting.

Lapse of Certainty, cute, but they will just cast it again.

Order of the Sacred Torch, very limiting (depends on play group).

Presence of the Master, I like enchantments so...

Enchantments:

Kindred Boon > Deathless Angel, Shielded by Faith - Overall Kindred Boon is cheaper than Deathless Angel and provides 'indestructible' for the same mana cost permanently instead of temporarily. Shielded by Faith (although flavorful) only gives ONE creature 'indestructible'.

Runed Halo > Gideon's Intervention, Nevermore - I understand that preventing something from being cast is "better" but this isn't a "try hard" deck. I think your opponent should be able to play their fun cards - they just can't cast them against you. Let your opponents kill themselves while you sit safely out of harms way.

(( Work in Progress: Plan to explain why I did/didn't pick all my cards. Stay Tuned ))
