Kytheon's Irregulars

Creature — Human Soldier

Renown 1 (When this creature deals combat damage to a player, if it isn't renowned, put a +1/+1 counter on it and it becomes renowned.)

: Tap target creature.

Thank you for the suggestions criscofieldsforever! Yea, the one time I ran Selvala the deck definitely played more smoothly from the get-go.

Loxodon Smiter is a pet-card but it probably should be something that does more. I switched to Prowling Serpopard for protection from counters and this will give me a reason to finally pick one up.

Good call on Wispweaver and Sabertooth. Switched one to Woodland Bellower to find Serpopard or Wayward as needed and the other to Lumbering Battlement. I like the idea of casting him and then Day of Judgment so fingers crossed there is no exile removal in response!

Also Baru was not going to be doing as much work without Karametra always present so switched some stuff up and added Kytheon's Irregulars. Always wanted to play with them and I hope to make his tap ability into a political tool.

And Dragonlord Dromoka is a good suggestion but sadly she is too expensive for my wallet at this time.

Haha no way! Ok well in that case...

Akroan Crusader definitely reminds me of Achilles. Even though I think Akroans were meant to be Trojans, see Akroan Horse

Anax and Cymede could be Helen and Paris

Battlewise Hoplite for Hector of Troy

Kytheon's Irregulars as the Argonauts or the Myrmidons

Fleecemane Lion is totally the Nemean Lion

Hero of Iroas is Hercules. Just look at the artwork!

Impetuous Sunchaser is obviously Icarus

King Macar, the Gold-Cursed is King Midas

That's all I can think of for now. What a cool concept. Let me know what you think!

I was a little surprised that I didn't see Favored Hoplite Hero of Iroas Fabled Hero Kytheon's Irregulars Akroan Crusader to represent Jason, Achilles, Hercules, Odysseus, Hector, Perseus or any of those people.

Here some suggestion:

Removal:

Crib Swap (work well with the second ability of Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero ) and replace Celestial Flare

Condemn and replace Dispense Justice

Swords to Plowshares and replace Glimpse the Sun God

Rebels:

Ramosian Revivalist and replace High Sentinels of Arashin i think it will be better in youre Marath deck.

Mirror Entity and replace Hundred-Handed One

Changeling Hero and replace Pious Warrior

Theyre other humans you could replace for theses rebels. Keep them in youre maybebord for now Lawbringer Ballista Squad Lightbringer

Mana Ramp: (try other cards first, just put them in you're maybebord) Knight of the White Orchid Burnished Hart Gift of Estates

Humans: Crovax, Ascendant Hero and replace Salvage Scout

Angels: Reya Dawnbringer and replace Kytheon's Irregulars

Lands: ( replace 5 plains for those cards)

Mistveil Plains

Karoo

Emeria, The Sky Ruin (that cards worth it money in a mono white)

Evolving Wilds

Terramorphic Expanse

I'd take Journey to Nowhere over Pacifism , there are a lot of creatures who hurt you just by being on the battlefield without attacking or blocking anyone. Luminarch Ascension seems like a card that's good in multiplayer where you have a lot of opponents' end phases for it to trigger in and a propensity for stale mates, so if you're playing that way a lot it's a good card. In normal matchups, though, I don't see it doing much for you. Instead of Ghostly Prison , I'd bring in Archangel of Tithes , she's a bit more expensive for you and not as expensive for your opponent, but she's more versatile and comes with a 3/5 body which can really do wonders.

Darksteel Citadel doesn't seem to do a whole lot of good for you, and the occasional life-gain from Seraph Sanctuary is really also something you need to have a payoff for for it to be worth it. Maybe just get some extra plains, or you could get Eiganjo Castle or Okina, Temple to the Grandfathers . You also seem to have rather more forests than I'd really recommend, but good dual lands are expensive, so I get you :) If you can afford them, I recommend Temple Garden , Horizon Canopy , Windswept Heath , Razorverge Thicket and Wooded Bastion .

Shaman of Forgotten Ways seems way too expensive, I'd get Birds of Paradise or more Noble Hierarch s if you can afford it, otherwise Avacyn's Pilgrim , Beastcaller Savant or Bloom Tender can do good work too. I'm also not sure what Kytheon's Irregulars ' role in your deck is, again let me recommend Archangel of Tithes , or alternatively Angel of Jubilation , Shalai, Voice of Plenty , or Indomitable Archangel or Gisela, the Broken Blade . Baneslayer Angel is a fine card, but unless you're facing demons and dragons regularly, Lyra Dawnbringer is probably better. Her ability to be a lord for other angels is really nice.

Iona, Shield of Emeria and Avacyn, Angel of Hope are super powerful bombs, but I'm not sure you have enough ramp to play them consistently. Of course, you know your local meta better than I do, so you be the judge of that yourself :) I'd recommend thinking about dropping them, though.

And last, a shameless plug. I've been playing with an angel deck of my own at my local FNM and been doing OK, it's been mono-white, white-green-red and is now just white-green. You can check the latest iteration here if you're looking for a somewhat different take on this whole business: Noble Angels

No problem, I think it's looking pretty good. Maybe try a few Lead the Stampedes until whenever you can get those Companies?

Remove Abzan Battle Priest x1, Kytheon's Irregulars x2. Now you're at 60.

Last, remove 3 or 4 other creatures; either cut some Cenn's Tacticians (he isn't human, so he'll be missing enters-the-battlefield triggers), and maybe a Honored Hierarch or two (you probably won't need turn-3-ramp very often). Then add 2 to 4 Lead the Stampedes & also Nissa, if you want her (she'll do good here).

Elspeth S.C. probably isn't needed. She's good but she's slow. She makes swarms. You'll already have a swarm by the time you cast her.

If you're running this competitively, some must haves: Boros Charm, Goblin Guide, Grim Lavamancer, Eidolon of the Great Revel,Path to Exile, and Rift Bolt. Your mana-curve seems way too high, although Archangel of Tithes would be great to board, on 20 lands you most likely won't be dropping her until turn 6. She also requires so much white mana...

Having a million one-ofs is great on paper but what you want to do is go for four-ofs of the best cards, and cut weaker/more costly ones. Monastery Swiftspear is crazy strong and should be a four-of, as is Lightning Bolt. Citadel Siege is awkward, and your Mana Confluences are gonna hurt much more than running fetches/shocklands would. Arid Mesa, Sacred Foundry, and Bloodstained Mire should all be in the deck as four-ofs.

Disenchant belongs more in your sideboard, as it's useless in maany matchups. Ajani's Presence is gonna save just one creature 99% of the time, and is not worth running. Phalanx Leader and Ojutai Exemplars should go, as well as Kytheon's Irregulars, too expensive and color-dependant.

If you're not running this competitively, looks good.

Sendaran on Modern Blue White Budget Willbreaker

Lands that target creatures are absolutely hilarious with Willbreaker. Rogue's Passage is one of the best options. Sandstone Bridge, Skyline Cascade and Soaring Seacliff are other options in your colors. Ruins of Oran-Rief can be used against Eldrazi, so sideboard only at best.

Kytheon's Irregulars is another budget option for things you already have. Topplegeist is nice too, although you'll miss on the extra fun from delirium without some other changes. It's still a solid one drop.

And here's a random list of dirt cheap things that get those triggers in different ways: Beacon Hawk, Abuna Acolyte, Benevolent Ancestor, Crossbow Infantry, Jhessian Balmgiver, Viridian Longbow, Zealous Inquisitor. The last 3 are probably the most interesting and flexible even without Willbreaker in play.
